She sounds like a wicked Alto. Would love to hear just how low she can sing. My choir did 'Hymn of Acxiom'. Not my most favorite of the arrangements I've heard but still amazing to sing! Getting chills listening to her do it in the original form.

guibox3 speaking voices are deceiving...in the Acapella group voces8 the alto1 has a higher speaking voice than the soprano 2 (which she too sounded more like an alto)

This became one of my favorite pieces after I first heard it.
Why, of COURSE I was first exposed to it as part of the Bluecoats' "Tilt".
It's really funny how many times I read comments on this song and see references to that DCI show. Ms. Teng, THANK YOU for this piece... and for allowing that drum corps to use it in their show.

Because it's an important part of what matters to the story being told. This is "documentary", not "promo" work. Someone's kept in mind that "it's about her work, not just her performances... so we should show her working somewhere other than in front of an audience".
It's called "honesty", and for documentary work (especially investigative journalism), there's no higher standard. ;-)

To all those chanting "GO BLOO!", or whatever:
You do know (*don't* you???) that the whole purpose of Teng's lyric is to force you to ask yourself whether you're a person in your own right... or merely a data point in a cloud...
By yelling "GO BLOO!" in response to this vid, you're exposing yourself as exactly the sort of "robot defined by tribe and propaganda" that she's questioning here... and declaring yourself a non-person in response to the song.
Say with me a thousand times: "churches aren't supposed to be cults, neither are colleges... and *especially* neither is anything military"!!! A marching band isn't a philosophy faculty.
Teng is a smart woman who's done "education" on her own terms... and if you're going to adopt this song, you should adopt it properly.
