Craig is second only to Carson. Johnny defined the artform. Without him Craig would have had nothing to deconstruct. Also, Colbert was good when he was playing a character on The Colbert Report, but since taking over The Late Show he's become an indistinguishable grey-suited cookie-cutter late night talk show host clone.

It's like comparing Michael Jackson to James Brown one made the mold the other one broke it Carson made the mold Craig Ferguson definitely broke the mold...
