The alt art of this dragon is hands down my favorite card art. I've never fallen in love with a card so fast. I'm planning on using him in the Orzhov precon as a hidden commander
As a pricy option, Smothering Tithe. You give someone a card making them lose a life and you force them to spend 2 mana or you get a treasure. If combined with Anointed Procession, it is 2 mana or you get 2 treasures.
Ngl, if I was the other player, I would welcome it. Smothering Tithe goes well in almost every deck.

yep, me too... I just got my Shadrix :) Breena's got the lolz and hopefully triggers often on others' turns. But Shadrix seems more consistent and within your control.. would love to hear thoughts if you've tried both!

Yessssss. Ramos brothers. I just pulled the foil etched version along with my commander precon version. Dragon tribal. And five color cascade mutate with the world tree plus maskwood Nexus combo. Its so beautiful.

My little playgroup has already got it into our heads to build commander decks around the elder dragons of this set, as I'm sure the others will be revealed here soon. If all of them have the "choice" aspect of Shadrix, that will certainly be a fun time!

@@Cyberium I like playing two head Giant commander my Merike deck was designed for it but it can also handle itself but i like to keep a deck or two for the possibility for it so this dragon speaks to me
If the other Elder Dragons in this set are half as fun as this one seems then I'm really excited to build around them
I love the full art version. I have a thalisse deck and I for sure am going to pop it in, even if it is not 100% synergistic.

Worth it
Necropolis regent with shadrix actually deals twelve, because you can put a +1/+1 counter on the turn you play him and before you attack. As well as being able to instantly one hit opponents once he does.
Been here since the early days of the channel.. still have my Arcades deck that I based around what Mitch made.. with a few personal touches. Thanks for being such a great content creator Mitch.
I love this Dragon. I'm glad we're getting another Elder Dragon, and in my favourite color combo.
Can't wait to put this elder dragon into my abzan +1/+1 counter deck
Definitely interesting as a kind of midrange commander with a lot of different lines of play.
I like Sword of Fire and Ice with this. Give the opponent a flyer at the beginning of combat, and then ping it after/if you connect.
Any anti-W/B sword would allow you to bypass the inkling, while doubling the combat damage benefit. Sword of Light/Shadow get you creatures back, Truth/Justice proliferate your army, etc.

Solemnity is another way to break parity with the commander by blanking that ability choice.
Also, adding persist creatures + Sac outlet combos with Solemnity while also synergizing with the commander.
It’s an interesting deck because it creates non-bos and combos depending on how you play the cards. Very situational. Makes for an interesting piloting experience. Might be frustrating though. Have to play test it a bit.
I’m so excited to get copy of this guy, also can’t wait to see the witherbloom one, hopefully it’s just as sick!

Revel in Riches, Blood Artist, -1/-1 anthem for your opponents(Elesh Norn), token generators, and sacrifice outlets. Give your enemies inklings, which will die to -1/-1 anthem(s) and ping them due to Blood Artist or give you tons of treasure from Revel.
I like the more hidden ink theme to it that is in the art name and tokens and honestly I would not think it be on a elder dragon of all things

Really excited to see the other Elder Dragon, we all know that the simic one will be the most powerful but we can still hope to see good commanders like this one in the other colors
Flexible is the only word for this commander
The first commander that came to mind when I saw this was Doran. It is basically a flying 5/5 with double strike in that deck
Necropolis Regent is one of my favourite cards. If you give double strike to your creatures is pretty much game over.
I really want it in my Ur Dragon deck. A 2/5 for 5 (but because of eminence it's a 4 drop) seems like a decent monster.
Then I get a phyrexian arena with it seems pretty cool.
They do get a flyer but with trample, my dragon eat them up.
not to mention if you are missing killing power somehow use the 3third abillity and buff the living heck out of them

at first i thought shadrix was neat, but now i really like him.
I love the offbeat ideas you have here...cards I never knew existed, let alone have this kind of synergy. This kind of jank is one of the reasons I love to play.

Sooo damn fast yo.
It's kinda nuts it just has double strike flying baseline. Like I think that keyword combo is strong enough by itself to incentivize playing anthems and buffing up your dragon boi to just win outta nowhere with commander damage.
This card makes me think of Grismold but with more options. Yeah, i'm expecting some dirty tricks with Illness in the Ranks like effects. Cards like Solemnity & Thief of Blood could also be dirty if you want to put focus on the counters part as well.
This is my favourite commander of all time… have you seen the alternative art?!

Shadrix, Anointed Procession, Divine Visitation. Those 2/1 inklings? Well they’re now 4/4 angels and you’ll be getting 2 of them per trigger.
Species Specialist - draw a card for every Inkling that dies.
Can't wait to see the other 4 Elder Dragons. I have high hope the others will be just as interesting as Silverquill is:)
I love this card
I'm going all in on the Elesh approarch to this deck. Basically I'm running a lot of -1/-1 effects like Kaervek, Elesh, Night of Souls' Betrayal, etc to generally shrink the opposing field. It just happens to also shrink my field a bit, but that's why something Shadrix can counteract with +1/+1 counters and, of course, giving the opponent shrunken Inklings.
Since some of these cards will also shrink my stuff and I don't know what order they're coming in, I'm also running Dictate of Erebos and Grave Pact if I feel like making Inklings of my own.
A few sac outlets here and there, a bit of reanimation, some mana serious artifact-based ramp and boom: One ugly deck to annoy my friends with. I call it Shadrix's Uncomfortable Hugs. Thankfully, there is so little synergy with this type of effect that I didn't have too much trouble actually shrinking the deck list down to size. Pretty easy build.

Mitch I think you was mistaken about Necropolis Regent. If that dragon deals combat damage it should be 6 +1/+1(2 for the first strike 4 for the double strike) counters on the first hit because of the double strike. (Oh my with those 2 cards that commander turns into a 2 hit win.

If you give them control of the dragon, yes.
Curse of deaths hold targeting self + aetherflux generator + bishop of Angel's + maskwood nexus yields a complicated infinite loop / life generation win con. Give yourself 1/0 inkling/angel it dies creates a 0/0 spirit /angel it dies and creates another. Each angel gives you 4 life, and you've already gone infinite. Now do this for say 1000 life then sac 50 life deal 50 damage to a player until they die. 1000 not enough? Go for 10000.
If someone gave all my creatures +1/+1 counters but I didn't have any, THANKS is not what I'd be saying to them.
If you're looking to hit opponents with negative anthems and kill things tossing Syr Konrad in the 99 isn't a bad deal pings everyone for 1 and let's you manipulate the tokens for direct damage

I can't wait to brew this. This brings a commander to WB that isn't just life gain or aristocrats and can make some fun times for politics
Yet...it can be used in both of those archetypes and more...very well designed
