    Judge is my favorite from the Silver series. Fire is great, but really slow.

      Very true. I prefer the remake of Fire on Widescreen. Really speeds the game up. Judge is so fun with another person.

      I would have to say my favorites in the Silver Series are a tie between Ball and Vermin. Ball, even on Game B, is pretty slow, but I like how simple and fun it is for the first system. Vermin on Game A is pretty easy, but I mainly play Game B because Game B is much harder and faster. Definitely makes it more fun. Judge is a pretty fun game too, though I haven’t played enough of it to really say if it’s one of my favorites or not.

    Super Mario Bros. (2020) has 2 Mario games + a Mario version of Ball. Hold A for 5 seconds on any mode and Mario will turn into Luigi.
    The Legend of Zelda (2021) has 3 Zelda games and a playable clock + timer. And a Link version of Vermin, too. Hold A for 5 seconds on any mode and it'll trap you in Game C (Pure Hell Mode)

    That's so cool.
    I'm so glad to learn more about Game & Watch. This first series is so revolutionary.
    Maybe I ought to collect them someday.

      I agree! All of the silver series games are iconic. I would definitely recommend getting at least one, if you like G&W, they're really cool in real life! The quality is really nice and there's something special about seeing the LCD work on the original hardware and playing the games how they were intended.

    I actually found a Time Out copy of Fire at an antique shop the other day (or "Fireman! Fireman!" if you're an uncultured _American_ ) and it reminded me that it had been an entire month since I last binged this series. So...here I am.
    Funky, unfortunate fact about the Silver Series: They were released before Nintendo really knew how to work with the LCD technology, so all of them are infinitely more prone to screen bleeding than any of the other G&W units. Which is a shame. Like watching the last Tazmanian Tigers in captivity getting sick, or some other less horrific analogy.

      @JComX  Před 2 lety +1

      Whoa no way! It would be so cool to get an original Time Out brand G&W!
      That makes a lot of sense. The Fire that I have struggles as well. Thankfully no screen bleeding, but it's too dark. :/ I'm glad they refined and perfected the LCD tech as they went along!

    Game and watch its one of my favorite pieces in gaming history and the recently launches of the Super Mario and Zelda G&Ws only makes me happy for finally be able to experiment for my own games like Ball or Vermin in a closer way to the original.
    Btw, if those two consoles comes with games from the Silver series, i can bet that the next G&W Anniversary console will include Fire. Can imagine a Fire version with Samus as the main character saving matroid from falling down? That would be great.

    Another great vid! Liked seeing the breakdown of how the different launch titles for G&W played. Always saw the games but never understood even what exactly they were. And the origin of the judgement move from smash was super interesting! Kind of a lame game tho lol

      @JComX  Před 3 lety

      Thank you! :D That's the most interesting part for me too! Since Smash Bros. was my introduction to him, I've always thought it was so cool learning where his moves came from! But yeah, Judgement is pretty much just a reflex game.

    What was the American version of Judge?

    • @JComX
      @JComX  Před 2 lety +1

      As far as I know it was just Judge, if it came over. Mego/Time-Out, the company responsible for distributing the games in the U.S. and renaming them don't seem to have released Judge or renamed it like the others. At least not that I could find.

    Interesting video. Keep doing the rest. You are missing a few games. Silver series is hard to find. Even in good condition.

      Moles are not bad. The games are fun. I wish they did something else but ball has a legacy. Fire is great.
