A sport engine in the Sport would be nice
I like that they kept it simple. No turbos, DCT's, or gimmicky tech stuff. I'm not crazy about a CVT, but it is expected in this segment I guess. The mpg's aren't amazing, but it also costs less than half of what an EV will cost you too.
The 2.0 engine also still uses port injection, avoiding the eventual, costly maintenance issues from direct injection.
0 to 60 in 3-5 business days.
it seems like a decently executed sub compact SUV. just needs more power and better fuel economy

The front look great! like a Ford Escape and not over chromed like the other Honda.
Really enjoy the format of your reviews. I believe the Sport trim in Canada gets a sunroof, heated steering wheel and duel zone climate controls; but uses the smaller EX-L rims. Also on the Honda Canada website it mentions a rear center armrest as standard on all trims. Funny the way Honda Canada and Honda America have these trim differences.

Great video. I am watching almost all of these videos, but haven't had time to check out all the actual driving ones, and this is the first one I have seen someone is testing a Sport Trim.
The reason for the USB-A in front, and the two USB-C in the console is that the front one is the data connection some more audiophile level drivers still use the wired connection, especially for better stereo systems like the Bose one in the top Civic trim levels and the ELS ststem in the new Acura Integra A-Spec Technology Package.
Also, some people connect a USB thumb drive with their music, which is USB-A. There is only one USB-C/USB-A thumb drive I have seen, and it is only 16G capacity. The USB-C is generally for faster charging if the vehicle or A/C charger is fast charge, like 20W+ for the A/C wall chargers.
I was going to get a new Civic Sport Hatchback with this reliable N/A 2.0L engine I wish the previous HR-V Sport had. This HR-V Sport suits me better for what I want and need. Like the Civic Sport, it is well equipped for the price, with functional stuff like manual adjust seat, less likely to have potential problems.
This engine has greater longevity and dependability than the turbo engine, with less potential problems, and expense for repairs and maintenance, especially if you have a lead foot and tend to thrash and abuse your vehicle.
The engine is not the fastest, but it's sufficient, and keep in mind, you probably lose 1+ second in acceleration with the AWD versions.
K-Tuner recently released a new calibration mod for this engine in the Civic that brings power and torque levels up to the non Si 1.5L turbo engine.
I am fine with the matte black grill and trim that is less likely to show wear and tear from flying rocks, gravel, etc. compared to the glossy trim. The 18" wheels look a lot better that the 17" on the LX/EX-L and has the usual persona of a more pedestrian driver or non enthusiast, with less aesthetic value.
Like the Civic, the Black Honda H Mark and HR-V emblems are available as an OEM accessory package.
The steering feedback, may not be as heavy as in the Civic, but engineers probably did that for a reason, being an SUV. Ditto for the 18" wheels, and the suspension that I believe has slightly stiffer springs for better handling response. I prefer the appearance and ride the Sport has.
Added road noise from the tires is not an issue with me as I am used to it, and will probably be playing my music, and plan to upgrade the speakers and amp later.
I prefer leather seats, but would only get the sunroof if it came with the vehicle and trim I got. But the Sport seats look nice, and is said to be more supportive and comfortable. The upgrade to EX-L is not worth it for me unless ot had the Bose stereo from the Civic.
On the Civic Sport some people have done a muffler delete which is a less expensive way to get better sound similar to an aftermarket exhaust system, if you want it louder. It would probably sound the same on the HR-V.
A hybrid is possibly in the future, but keep in mind thst the HR-V is built in Mexico, and has only had the simpler N/A engine.
Outfitting the assembly plant and training the workers for the hybrid or turbo engines may add more expense than Honda cares to expend.
This HR-V Sport is about the price of the Civic Sport Hatchback I previously wanted, and with all the OEM accessories, destination and stealership scalping fee, should be just under $30K. I will be getting the FWD version, as I live in Honolu, HI and won't be needing the AWD for the places I go.
Honda, Toyota and others do a pretty good job with trim levels reasonably equipped and prices for the specific consumer groups targeted.
They also have the new 2023 CR-V and Pilot scheduled to be released in the coming months.
Tacoma, WA, hence lots of Tacos. Upper trims should have optional 1.5T since its close to Crv size

I’m really hoping that next year will bring a hybrid with a bit more power. I have a 2012 Scion xB that’s starting to show its age, and I’m not looking to go below the ~8.6 second 0-60 I get now. And looking to get some better mileage.
But I love the new design.

The HR-V sold in Europe would have been a nice car, but being based on the same Global Small Car platform used by the Honda Fit, the ride quality would have been inferior and it would have cost a fortune for Honda to adapt the K20C2 for that model. Honda may offer the L15B7 175 bhp and/or the 181 bhp e:HEV hybrid on the 2024 HR-V's for the North American market.

LOL, love the observation of Tacomas...they're super popular in the Pacific Northwest. I believe their dealers get the best allocation of Tacomas anywhere in the country, save Hawaii.
Anyway on the HR-V, I wish they would offer a Sport package with the moonroof, and that would be the ideal spec.

Bring back the 2.4 like in the older CRVS and Accords. I know it's not practical but just a thought. Maybe for the upper trim level? I would definitely be a buyer!
There's definitely enough room in the engine bay. For such a large vehicle, the 2.4 would be well appreciated.

I saw an HRV Sport a few days ago. The window sticker read, "assembled in Mexico". should I be concerned about quality/reliability?
Hrv is simply fantastic and excellent job by honda .❤. Hrv is the class leader .🍾🥂. 1.hrv .2.cx30 .3.corolla cross .top 3 best.
Because of the mpg and predicted reliability I would reverse your top 😉 Time will tell...

My wife and i have both and believe me the hrv is not really the class leader .
You do have rear vents. They are just under the front seats. Lots of cars have them.
I test drove one of these today, absolutely loved everything about it except….The powertrain is horrendous, you punch it from a stop and the engine makes noise but nothing really happens, eventually the awful cvt starts transferring some of the power to the wheels but i was blown away by how truly underwhelming the power delivery was..My 19’ crosstrek feels much, much quicker and i always considered it a dog.

The tuning knob is only on the 7" display, not the 9" display on the EX-L. And only the Sport has the black A/C knobs. The Civic Sport does not have that, or the exterior mirror turn signal indicator lights, blindspot/rear cross traffic monitoring.
The FWD is about one second faster than the AWD for acceleration for 0-60,
etc. I will get a Pedal Commander if I get this.
I don't think the hybrid will be put in the HR-V. It has the N/A 2.0L for a reason. They still could come out with a Sport Touring Hatchback with the 1.5L turbo.
If they do add a hybrid, it should be in the EX-L. Personally, I don't think that the EX-L looks nicer, but it may appeal to the non enthusiast types. The 17" wheels detract from the looks. The EX-L should have 18"wheels also, but in the style wheels it has now.
I have a detailed list of things to add to make the Sport as good or better than the EX-L.
Also, the optional black exterior emblems should come included on the Sport, though some dealerships are putting it on.
The two USB outlets under the center console do not matter if it has USB-C if it doesn't have the faster, higher output.
And it's a Sport trim, expect it to have the Sport turned suspension with the louder bigger wheel/tires, stiffer springs and sway bars.
IMHO I will take the Sport and day over the EX-L, looks much better. There's a nice $100 leather/leatherette seat cover set for the front and back and a lot of other goodies available online.
How is the sound quality?

They have the Hybrid HR-V or some places ZR-V outside of the US. They could just add it to the US lineup. I think it will cost more and has more equipment upgrades some people want.

Looks better than the previous model. I just don't care too much for the round and smooth design on the inside. Not a fan of those fabric seats, insides of the doors and no rear arm-rest.

Idk why we got this instead of the one they get overseas. Honda should be using a global platform like what Toyota’s doing.
And so this is a Frankenstein. Civic and CRV had a drunk night. That’s why to me the HRV looks off from certain angles. I’ll never understand why Honda does not give you a sunroof with the sport trim and they didn’t bother to give this the “touring” pack.

I don't think the HRV is going to sell well with people who have kids or family simply because the rear seats don't have a cup holder.

You can get inexpensive storage caddies that hang on the rear of the front seats with cup holders and lots of storage for various items, depending on which one, online.
Honda really ruined the HR-V and is going backwards in design. The new generation lost the innovative hidden rear door handles, Magic Seats, weighs more so it has slower acceleration, has lower MPG, less cargo space in the back, and that horizontal chicken wire look strip across the dash not only looks bad, but it would be much harder to clean the dust off. The previous generation had a 0-60 rating of 8.6 seconds for the FWD. Now it's much slower, like around 10, 11 seconds or so. And it's still having a CVT transmission instead of a more reliable geared transmission. Honda also ruined the looks of the new generation Civic too. The previous generation looked so much more sportier. Before I was seriously thinking of buying a new HR-V, but most definitely not now. Honda engineers need to be replaced!
The Toyota Rav4 with its 8 speed geared transmission blows Honda's CVT SUV's out of the competition! It's no wonder the Toyota Rav4 is the best selling SUV around.
