  • This is a demo of all the Piano and Keyboard category sounds in the Yamaha Montage M6. These examples were all generated using the built in Audition button. I did NOT play these. I will release other videos showing my live playing, but for now, you can see what the Yamaha Montage M Piano and Keyboard performances are like.

Sounds like a dream keyboard Ben. I had the original Montage. Seems like this one is much improved in many aspects ! Thanks for sharing

    I am using MONTAGE8 & 6.
There are various demo videos about the M series, but this video shows the differences between the early models and the M series. I feel that the depth and expressiveness of the tone has further increased. You'll probably be able to see more of the difference if you test it on an actual machine. I learned a lot. thank you.

Keep in mind, the Montage M contains all the Motif XF and Montage sounds as well.

Ben is the Montage M and addition or replacement to your rig? I replaced my RD-2000 and Hydrasynth Deluxe with the Montage M8x and could not be happier. Always appreciate your thoughts...

Thanks for your question! I don't have the space for an M8X, so I traded a YC88 for the Montage M6. I still have access to the YC 88 and CP88, and I still own the Stage 4 Compact.

Thank you so much for posting this. It is really helpful for my purchasing decision as it lets me hear all the sounds. Couple questions. 1) Do you plan to do this for the other sounds as well (I am really interested in the drum sounds in particular as there aren't any other demos that really show the drum sounds)? 2) Does Yamaha have an option to disable the Oscilloscope display in the upper right? I can see how that oscilloscope could get distracting depending on what I am doing.

Thanks for your comment! 1. Yes. All of them are coming ASAP. 2. Yes, sort of. You can change the display mode to not show this. I do that a few times in this video, however I think the Oscilloscope view is the default. It is a fun little addition Yamaha added, which some people will like, and some will not. I've found I ignore it most of the time.

The board sounds OK, but to me it sounds a little too sterile. It is almost like it has this Yamaha "filter/sheen" over all it´s sounds. It is very difficult to describe, but if the presets was photographs instead, it´s like the same colour grading was applied to all the images (even if they were different). I´m not sure if I like it....maybe it sounds better in real life.

I feel it could be due to the massive reverb Yamaha puts on every patch, and its the same kind of reverb. I do not like this approach at all, but I feel if the reverb is altered the results would be interesting.
But I do agree, there is something digital sounding about the patches regardless of the reverb. Sometimes I like this digital sheen, specially on the FM patches, but yeah it can be strange and jarring.
