The Dead Space 2 Remake Could Be In Trouble

- Motive Studios have been chained to the Battlefield franchise, and this could be terrible news for a potential remake of Dead Space 2. It could also not be, so let's talk about it.

Who knows at this point? It's all way too early to say anything concrete and we'll have to see how it turns out down the line.

Even though I really enjoyed the remake of the first game, I thought it was underwhelming for their portrayal of the story and the characters. Amazing gameplay and details but I didn’t think it was as impactful.
So if they did make 2nd remake, they need better actors and better impacts on the story and interactions. It’s just my opinion and I know it’s not popular but there are things in the OG that just stick with me better. So in regards, I still would like to see a dead space 2 remake. Who knows.

Really? I don’t think I want a Dead Space 2 remake. I heard 2 was super good
2 is the best game in the series. It's also a notoriously difficult game to play nowadays because it's PC port falls to pieces when played on modern/high-end hardware and it isn't available on any consoles besides ones from 2006. Even if they're not doing a full-on remake of the second game and its just a cleaned-up remaster, any attempt to get 2 out of its 7th gen region-locking and onto today's hardware solely for the sake of preservation purposes is worth it, and if that isn't happening at Motive, it's a huge problem for the series.
I think a problem a lot of people have is that they look at the quality of a game in a vacuum as the sole reason for whether or not a remake or remaster should happen, and don't look at any of the stuff surrounding it, like a game's availability or playability on hardware fifteen years after it first released. I think that matters a lot and it's something I always try to consider when discussing remakes or remasters.

I really hope this isn't a bad omen. The Dead Space remake was an absolute masterpiece, Motive is obviously extremely passionate about the IP, perhaps more than a lot of us are! I would love to see them get a shot at doing more remakes and potentially even continuing the franchise! I remember going ballistic when the first revealed the remake, I was so excited! The fact that they exceeded my expectations couldn't have made me happier!

btw for dead space 2 remake there's a lot of stuff they gotta fix imo. the game is still great, but they need to fix the bosses or at least add more boss variety, maybe they can make more creepy designs for the phantoms. also they need to make the controls as good as the OG ds2, that game still feels SO fucking smooth to play and the combat feels awesome ! also they need to make Nicole's ghost more scarier than the OG, there's already so much ideas i have for ds2 remake
Honestly, even if the 'remake' of 2 is just a remaster with minor gameplay tweaks and polishes just to get it onto modern hardware, I'd be happy. 2 is an absolutely phenomenal game and it desperately needs to be pulled out of its 7th gen console region-lock so everyone else who wasn't around at the time can enjoy it alongside the remake of 1.

Honestly it’s too early to tell but this doesn’t bode quite well. It’ll be dead space 3 all over again. It’ll either be put on hiatus for many more years or that it just won’t have their full attention and suffer for it
I've heard rumblings that EA's considering shelving the series because the remake of 1 didn't do Resident Evil numbers, which is the exact same mentality that tanked the franchise the first time. I'm hoping this is just a sign that Motive is expanding and getting their toes into more franchises rather than their plans for a Dead Space franchise revival being vetoed and them being shipped off to another series forever.
