I think Kershaw definitely set the tone of the series. In baseball poor performance is definitely contagious amongst a team unless they got a special player that can flip the script. These Dodgers don’t have a player like that anymore

Proof is in the pudding…multiple early playoff exits (in infamous fashions on many occasions) and only 1 asterisk World Series in 11 years to show for it. The dominance of Kershaw in game one gave the Diamondbacks confidence that they could win the series in which they did. D.Roberts should taken Kershaw out of the game way before he did. He didn't look sharp and he wasn't fooling any of the Diamondbacks hitters with his picthes. You see what the Diamondbacks coach did in game three. The first hit the starting pitcher gave up he pulled him, he didn't want the Dodgers to gain any momentum. But on top off all the that the Dodgers BATS were nonexistent! For the second straight year!

    • @johnnythunder196

the drop in CF and how bad kershaw was made them realize they were playing a bunch of clowns and their belief grew enormously. The Dodgers pen did there part in game 2/3 and if the bats would've come alive the Dbacks would've folded but the bats were MIA. Betts and Freeman should have been moved way down in the lineup for game 3 imo (at least 5/6). I would've had Hernandez & Taylor 1-2 & kept Smith third as it was obvious to me he was giving max effort. Heyward would've never played a second for me. Outman would have been benched by game 2.

Such a disappointing and embarrassing way to bow out, but not surprising given the way the gm and front office handled trades and acquisitions this past year. Hurts doubly when the highest paid players are not offensive contributors. Hurts as well when the team can’t afford to acquire new talented players because of the star studded cast they already have. Then you have the same players that struggle every year at the plate or at best are hot for short periods of the season but can’t be counted on to contribute in the postseason.

Failure on the part of batters to score early runs had a direct impact on the way the games were played. The lineup needed to be changed IMO and to move Betts and Freeman further back and allow Hernandez or Taylor bat in the 1 and 2 positions. Moreover, it's time to say goodbyes to CK and Lance Lynn, competitive, hungry teams with robust enthusiasm to beat the Dodgers aren't going to watch pitches or chase. They came to bat with a vengeance. Dodgers must let go of CK now and revitalize the starting pitching staff for next season. Moreover, the post season format is wrong IMO. Old school here and the divisional winners should face off to get to the WS. Orioles with 101 wins lost, Braves are on their heels and may lose after 104 wins. Braves, Dodgers and Orioles gave their fans a great season and may be totally eliminated is these short, who is the hottest teams that never came close to winning their respective divisions. Something just ain't right folks.

This was disappointing, but everyone has to step it up and contribute.
Dave Roberts should not have left Kershaw on the mound when he first saw things were not going their way. He needs to stop doing that.
Mookie Betts is getting hammered in these comments, but he is not the only one who was a disappointment. Max Muncy, who is an amazing hitter, fizzled out.
Perhaps they get another shot at the title next season.
During their time off from the game, they can put their thinking caps on and figure out how to keep their momentum going.

I'm so sick of this argument!!! Sure it has some merit BUT answer me this...What's the excuse for TB, Toronto, Milwaukee & Miami for being swept in the WC round this year since they were not off for 5 days and each team's offense went to SH*T as well??? Look back at the history of the MLB playoffs to see how many times the top seed in each league won the pennant???!!!
This new format is fine and the sample size is way too small to make these outlandish assumptions!!! I'm a Phillies fan and although we reached the WS last year & NLCS so far this year, I would NEVER prefer entering the playoffs as a Wild Card team as opposed to being a top 2 seed with the GUARANTEED 1st Round Bye!!!

I watched this series from beginning to the end. Let me post a stat that I saw last night after the game was over. Freeman, Betts, Muncy, and Martinez all had over 100 RBI'S for the season. That was the most throughout the entire league!!! And yet the Dodgers only scored 6 runs in 3 games!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!! Thats mindblowing!!! I give a ton of credit to the Diamondbacks, they knew no one was giving them a chance and they proved everyone wrong!!! Winning over 100 games year in and year out, and getting bounced in the Postseason every year is completely unacceptable!!! Its time to blow this thing up in LA and start over, and they should start with Kershaw and the manager Dave Roberts!!!!

Every year! Basically it's the same thing! Great regular season! And then bounced out early! Our bounced out eventually! With arguably some of the best teams going into the playoffs! I'm a Dodgers fan! But man ! It seems to be a repeat! Every year! To say the least! I'm not a big Roberts fan! Either! We should focus on our pitching! In the off season!

  • @ralphfreemanjr9

It is the playoff format. The players won’t say it but the week off is not working for the better teams. MLB will have to take a look at this. Dodgers done Baltimore done. Braves almost done. There is a flaw in the system. Fix it baseball. The players can’t say it but I can. The format is not working. It should be best 0f 7 series not 5 after a week off…

Mookie has always been a little streaky, but it's rare that something like this ever happens to him. It's really a shame cause he's such a likeable dude, but he's gotta step it up as a leader for this team. Hopefully he can make a splash next October.
What's ever more baffling is Freddie. We've seen his slumps before, but they never last long, and he never looks THIS lost. Dude looked liked Belli in 2021, that's unheard of for Freddie. In my opinion, he is the 2nd best pure hitter in baseball, only behind Ohtani. This is just crazy in so many ways. Props to the DBacks of course, but damn we gotta hit better than that.
My offseason wishlist is resign Kike, get another proven postseason bat, get at least two proven competitive starting pitchers (along the lines of Ross Stripling or Kenta Maeda, doesn't have to be super stars), and sign Ohtani. We obviously know how to win in the regular season, we need to start building purely for October.

Dodgers could have moved forward to playoffs but not enough batting practice against live pitching and no chemistry yet inspire greatness on the players they had. Simple adjustments could of kept them going all the way to the world serious but once again they come up short.
Discipline and the small things matter.
Once those are solved and I Robles are corrected then they will move forward and achieve their goal.
Plus the fact that every single player and person on the team must believe that the talent that themanagement has brought together mus Absoluyely believe that their TEAM is solid and that they can achieve far more thN what they can do... as a cohesiveness must exist at every level of their organization.m
