- I have been going to burningman for 10 years and was in attendance this year, 2023, also. I give you the real life behind the scenes scoop on what it was like at burnginmany during the rain event and what everyone did to cope with it/ It was not nearly as bad as the media is hyping it up to be.
I got stuck in a storm in the woods, was lost in a remote area without provisions. I had to makeshift a shelter, ride it out for 6 days, with no heat source, hypothermia sets in, starving,freezing wet spring weather. If it were not for the tree that gave me cover, the muddy river I sat in would of washed me away .When the sun finally came out, something told me it was time to get up and go. I could barely walk ,weak, dehydrated, near deaths door. My dog pulled me down the mountain, out of the reckage of my own faults. Never ever take for granted the privilege of mother nature offers. It will teach you what you value most,my dog saved my life.🐺

😆🤣🤣🤣 yeah because lying is in their blood. They will lie 24/7 to help any corrupt democrat. Must be rewarding to get a degree in journalism and then wake up every day knowing you will be lying for the democratic machine to keep them in power.

Actually, there was a lot of hate comments ranging from calling the event as the devil's work to laughing about all the stupid hippies.
I'm shocked that anyone is shocked by media coverage!!! Thought most people already knew our state run media is nothing but fake, managed, and purposely designed to mislead people!!! But apparently not!!
Fox News claimed every participant was doing acid. And that they were idiots for obeying the traffic cones when leaving. It's here on CZcams.

Burning man is a ginormous party. Kinda like an instant Florida spring break party with all kinds of wild and crazy folks without the hotels. Hard ships? Disaster? Now way! You’ve got 70,000 people bringing probably 30,000 fully self contained RV’s with 2 weeks of supplies and grub. You might get inconvenienced, but your not going to starve. Access is by a single lane highway. Not a 8 lane freeway, so it’s going to take a while for everyone to trickle out when it’s done.
My biggest entertainment takeaway was when the tribal Rangers showed up and smashed through the protestors road block an hauled them off to jail. That was entertaining to watch.

@@gzo313 that would be a no. Never gone to one. While there are a number of cool and interesting aspects to it, especially the wild and crazy contraptions and some of the art pieces I have seen videos and photos of, I just have no interest in the overall event itself. Way to big and crowded for me.

Great video. good to hear the truth about what went on. Glad to see Dakota in the background. She seems to be a "real " person. Not that any of your prior crew were not real people. Much of your prior crew seem to be " eye candy". Dakota may be camera shy, but she seems to be genuine.

Great to hear your take on what went on. Getting stuck in the mud generally sucks, but if you have friends, food, water (and toilets), not so bad!

just got back from my 24th Burn - it was wonderful - get your word right! - it is CLAY that is why it is sticky- there were rain issues in '98 and '99 - BurningMan is stronger than America - Burners help each other - those that ran away are the p[eople that refuse to HELP people at any time - add some solar power to your set-up, and a composting toilet ( take the liquid parts home to your roses) - and solar cookers!
Some off your footage Made it onto the networks. I went stealth camping a few wreaks ago and the mosquitos were unbearable. I had a hammock with a bug net so I slept great. Like the boy scout I was prepared. :)
Yeah this really showed how the media does us real dirty! I haven't been to burning man but I really hope to go someday!! I knew the participants are self reliant and prepared to be there till at least Sunday or Monday... it was really ridiculous... it was exactly what most planned for except it was wet instead of dry 🤷♀️

Probably those same Aholes that go to the Colorado River and trash it. People who leave their trash and such. They need to not be let in.....or out if they do get in....lol😂

We left after man burn and it was a 3 hour exodous. Smooth sailing and barely had to stop.
The news needed something to distract everyone away from what is happening in Maui.

Hey, I watch your sailing channel but didn’t know you were a burner! I’ve been 14 times myself, and this Sunday I’m about to go start cruising from LA down to Mexico and beyond on our 43 foot Shannon sailboat. Maybe I’ll see you out in the water, or on the Playa one of these days.

I was at the Costco in Reno on the Saturday before Burning man started, cashier said on Friday the day before a group bought 100K worth of stuff. Probably went back to return a bunch of it.

It's crazy that no one had a hovercraft.
You can get those 2 seater hovercrafts to just crooze around on. If there it's dry you could zoom around the wide open spaces, and if there is rain then it doesn't matter how thick the mud is you'll still be able to crooze around and have fun.
In the UK the RNLI use hovercrafts on mud flats.
Imagine the dust it would blow up when it’s dry as usual!!
I think those 4 wheel dune buggies would have been great to have....

I have worked transporting things for camps and the org even providing refridgerated trailers for some camps and will spend the next week or so removing it all before heading back to baja on my sailboat for the winter I hear was muddy was fun and look forward to going for fun for the first time next year

I didn't go this year, but I checked in with my peeps. My buddies texted me with "yeah we have enough bacon and whisky for at least 3 days so we're 100%. Plus, it's QUIET! Beautiful day, chill people. We're serving breakfast to about 100 right now."
That's how it works out there. You have a problem, you ask for help, Most people will just stepup ;-)

When I heard the media suggest you were stuck and it was a huge problem I laughed. I've never been, but I thought "you're saying the people who brought their own shelter, food, and water for over a week are somehow unable to wait out a rain storm? That doesn't make sense." I'd love to go sometime.

Used to do some Rainbow festivals back in the day; never did Burning Man. Who perzactly is collecting big ticket money for -- as you note -- parking on federal land?
Curious, do people run out of gas while waiting in 7-10 hours of traffic?
Happened to me when we were stuck in traffic during a bad storm. All of the gas stations were closed for a very long distance. I found an Inn in the middle of nowhere, and they siphoned gas from an ATV and gave me enough for me to get to a gas station an hour away. A lot of people with RVs have generators so they might have extra gas jugs from their stay at Burning Man. I now bring an extra 2 to 3 gallons via a rotopax so I have enough for those crazy situations. A lot of times people get into issues when there aren't any gas stations near the location or they are really busy. So people, me included don't fill up and arrive at the location with maybe half a tank or less of gas. For me I use my plug in hybrid vehicle as a built in generator so I have to keep an eye on gas usage when charging my car EV batteries over a 6 day boondock camp out.

Not really. A car will idle for a very long time before it uses up a tank

No you turn off when your not moving and you know to fill up when you're driving into the middle of nowhere, I've waited .out of a day at bonaroo and a few fish festys and it gets close but most people are prepared

Bobby, did you leave before the second rain or stay through the entire event? I saw video of rain and flooding before the event officially started and then video after another storm. The video of people stuck in the mud and camp sites flooded or turned into mud pits isn't fake. Plenty of vehicles were stuck in the mud, although some of them took their own path out of the area. Some people bailed out early when more rain was forecast. As you said, there were 70k people......and a smart person knows they are not all the same, therefore odds are there were many who were not so prepared. It sounds like many weather or fire events where there are many variables where some people get through relatively well and others end up in trouble, with some of the outcome based on their actions and some based on luck.
Got in line at around 1145. Got on highway at about 530. It only took me about a little under 6 hrs in line.

Exodus out of BM is always at least 5 hours minimum, totally sounded blown out of proportion by media

Typical Media hype everything is horrendous for sale , regardless of actuality . Anyone who has gone camping , anywhere , knows it has got to rain sometime . Most people prepare for a day or two more just in case . You got a few days of hanging with friends made a few new ones sounds like typical large camp . Used to go to a camp in Pen. around 10,000 , we had years when it rained a lot and others when it didn`t. You just deal , get on with it.
According to the media everybody at burning Man had covid and Ebola virus😮 glad to see you beat the odds and made it😂

It was recently reported that the man that passed away at burning man this year was due to a drug overdose.
Sooner or later, everyone will find out about what caused this unfortunate individual's demise... I wonder, on average, how many people pass away in a week (and how many do so from a drug overdose [and if you want to really check closely, whether from a pharmaceutical, or an illegal drug...] ...) in a city of 70,000 people in The United States of America. For that matter, ANY area of land that contains 70,000 people in The US most probably suffers more deaths in an average week than this Burning Man gathering did.
It is not the first time someone dies at Burning Man. Sometimes happens at the event, sometimes on their way home. In fact on the ticket it says "You assume the risk or serious injury or death..."
For real, I was watching thoae videoa from the media and people in the comments were wild. so much hate and wanting to see people suffer. Like who hurt you?
"Like who hurt you?" The ilk at Burning Man were wishing harm and death on people who didn't wear masks 3 years ago. So....... one has to ask who hurt them.
Looking back, masks didn't matter, but people were perfectly willing to hate on people about it. Same with the jab. We've gotten a huge amount of hate from this ilk of people for the last 3+ years. Turn about is fair play, in this instance.

Now all these people are coming home from Burning Man acting like they survived some sort of massive natural disaster.
