- VN24 - 23.12.2020 - Hamm / Germany - On Wednesday, December 23, at about 14:00 h, a very serious traffic accident occurred on the Lipperandstraße between an semitrailer truck and a passenger car Renault. For reasons that are not yet clear, there was a head-on collision between the 63-year-old truck driver, who was driving westbound on Lipperandstraße, and a 61-year-old Renault driver, who was driving eastbound. The driver of the passenger car did not survive the collision and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
Due to the force of the impact, the semitrailer truck veered to the right and tipped down a slope into a wooded area. The 63-year-old truck driver was trapped in his cab and had to be rescued by the fire fighters. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The public prosecutor's office called in an accident investigator to reconstruct the accident.
To recover the tractor-trailer, the load of rapeseed meal had to be pumped from a suction truck into a replacement truck for hours beforehand. With the help of two mobile cranes, the tractor-trailer was lifted back onto the road.

Ein Lob an die Bergungskräfte, was sie so alles leisten müssen und dann auch noch bei solchen Sauwetter. Gott sei Dank hatte ich noch nie einen Unfall mit meinem Pkw, ich habe schon viele Urlaubsreisen hinter mir.

To impact head on in a road that wide it only takes one vehicle to be in the wrong. Which one was it?
Sehr tragisch! Gute Arbeit des Kranunternehmens, einen kompletten Sattelzug zu heben, aber hier konnte die Sattelkupplung wohl nicht geöffnet werden, um den Zug zu trennen! Ohnehin wäre dies nur mittels bspw. einer Kette aus sicherer Entfernung möglich gewesen, da die Fahrzeugrahmen ziemlich unter Spannung standen!
