It’s actually extremely common for Scandinavian men to have names like that. Take Stefan Karl Stefansson, the actor who played Robbie Rotten, for instance. It’s because some Scandinavian countries don’t have surnames, so they just add “son” to the end of their father’s name.
As a Norwegian, someone saying “some Scandinavian countries don’t have surnames” is hilarious. All three of them do have surnames. The -son, -sson, and -sen endings all stem from an old tradition (that still exists in Iceland) of making your son’s surname the father’s name and the son ending. In Iceland they have the -dottir ending for daughters as well. The point here is that a Scandinavian man could actually be named Johnny Johnson, and he would most likely be Swedish.

re: Johnny Johnson, that was actually SUPER common in early scandinavian immigrants. It was common to be named after your father (especially if you were first born son), and you didn't have last names, your last name was taken from your parent. So you would be John, son of John, or Johnson. My earliest relative to come to the Americas from Norway was named Erick Erickson

“Yohnny” would be the Swedish way of pronouncing “Johnny”, more or less. J’s are Y’s basically.
....but the Swedish version of "John" is "Johan," and while it's certainly plausible that a "Johan Johanson" would change his name to the English variant "Johnny Johnson," it seems kinda silly that the p s y c h i c would pick up "Yahnny Yahnson" instead of either "Johnny Johnson" or "Johan Johanson" (which, when pronounced the Swedish way, sounds pretty distinct from "Johnny Johnson")
But hey, that's just my impression... for all I know, it could've actually been common for immigrants named Johan(n) to have a kind of nebulous, shifting mix of their native and English versions of their name, like "Yohnny." Considering there's no actual evidence of him existing in the first place, I think Dan said it best: it sounds like someone telling a story and making it up on-the-spot... using names that are _technically_ possible but seem a little too convenient to be _plausible._

I was laughing at the name Johnny Jonsson until I realized that he was supposedly scandinavian and that name makes perfect sense. I'm from sweden, my mom is a huge fan of looking at anchestry and history stuff and in scandinavia people would give their child the fathers name, for exampel 'Daniel' and then just put 'son' or 'dotter' (meaning son or daughter) as the childs last name. So that would make their last name Danielson. BUT it was also common to give the child, if it were a boy, the fathers name as the FIRST NAME TOO! And not just one son oh no, they would name like three sons Daniel Danielson, son of Daniel. We had like 5 Bengt Bengtson IN A ROW because these people would literally name every male family member Bengt Bengtson, son of Bengt Bengtson, brother of Bengt Bengtson- yeah you get the drift. Just imagine how confusing that would be.
So yeah. Johnny Jonsson sounds ridiculous. But its not that weird giving the time and that he was apparently supposed to be from scandinavia.

I'm not sure why, but this gets me every time!
I've had things that I was able to debunk, like the floors sounds like someone walking down the hall in a new house, but the one time, clear as day, that I can't explain was when I was a kid, and my great grandpa died a few days before and I had no idea. I saw him on the side of the road and I was telling my mom to go back, that she forgot him. And my mom tells me she was freaking out at that.
Astro Wolvez when I was younger I told my mum that a man with red eyes was standing in my doorway. I remember it happening too and at the time she told me it was just a dream, to go back to sleep, don’t worry. Years later she was watching one of those shitty fact or fiction programmes and sure enough a story about ‘Shadow people’ was brought up that linked up almost exactly to the detail of my own story to her.
