You should do a video where you read the books that Joe from the TV show 'YOU' recommends/reads. I think it would be interesting as he is a bookworm himself.
Happy Birthday 🎉 Jack! 25 is NBD. Oh to be 25 again. We get better with age. The 30’s were great. The 40’s are even better. Enjoy your 20’s while you can. Take this time for yourself before life “expectations” take hold and savour it!
Happy Birthday Jack! Always love your videos♥I have a video idea: would love to see you “tear” ranking all the books that made you cry. We all know you love sad books and so do many of us, I think, haha :)
'Naïve. Super by Erlend Loe' is the greatest book ever about turning 25. I give it to everyone in my life when they turn 25 or feeling a bit lost. A real gem
Jack I turned 30 this year and so far it has been great! At least for me it's been more economic security, freedom to do whatever I want and not really caring what others think because you finally figured out who you are. So enjoy your 20s and dont fear the 30s ❤
I came here to say the same thing. My early 20s especially I felt so worried about time slipping away from me, being able to do things, every birthday felt like this loss of youth. However I'm currently 30 and I fully agree, I feel so much more settled into my life and much more relaxed about everything. It feels like I woke up at 30 and suddenly realised there are really no rules to how you're supposed to live, so far it has been wonderful.
@@rebeccawickham7317 It's okay. Everyone has their own timing. The point I am trying to make is that time makes thing better, not worse. You will come into your own.
I honestly feel like the older you get the more chill and non caring you become, the easier the relationship with yourself, and the more freedom to explore yourself.
Someone gave me A Swim In A Pond In The Rain for my birthday and it's sat on my shelf for a while, sadly forlorn and forgotten. Your video makes me want to take it off the shelf, dust it off, and give it a go. Thanks, Jack! And Happy Birthday!!
I get 50% of my books from thrift stores. So fun to find deals (although I gotta say $8 for a thrift store book is wild, but I guess that’s NYC for ya)
I’ve recently read August Blue and Stay True! I thought August Blue was beautifully written, although I personally didn’t connect as strongly with the main character. Stay True is so good; it can feel a bit academic at times, but I felt very invested in the author’s life and his friendships.
I get freaking out about 25, but you'll spend much more time being over 25, and it will be glorious! Happy Birthday, can't wait to see your 30th birthday video!
Happy Birthday Jack. So you're nearly 25, I'm 54, so I'm old enough to be your mum. I can actually say, my 40's and now 50's are the best years of my life.
Omg you’re just a lil bb!! I felt the same way at 25, but you quickly realize how young 25 truly is. The trick is not to waste your time worrying about age, you’ll blink and it’ll be gone. Easier said than done!! Happy birthday :) 🎉
Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a great day and may you have a great year ahead. It’s truly a milestone to remember. Sending my warmest regards.
A Swim in the pond in the rain .. Number One Favorite Book of all time! And I am really really old grandmother of 5 and have been a voracious reader my whole life
Deborah Lacy's Hot Milk was one of my favourite reads this year! August Blue just came in the mail, so I will be joining you in a cheers to August in October!
Have your existential crisis at 25 by all means. I had one. I guess we all do? But now that I'm older I regret thinking like that at that age. Huge waste of my time. There's so much life ahead of you.
I'm curious if you've read Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, part of it being about New York and an intriguing read. Also feel you on about summer ending so soon lol Always got some interesting monthly books, love it 😇
Ohhh happy birthday, our bookish superstar!! 🍾🥂🎉 By the way, I highly recommend Hot Milk by Deborah Levy, it's a slow but suffocating book about a dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship. I loved it!
Happy Birthday Jack! You being a Libra makes so much sense to me aha ! I’m also 25 this year in December (Sagittarius) but my boyfriend is 23 and it literally does make me feel like an OAP 😂 He’ll be 24 in January but it means I’m 2 years older than him for one month, which literally makes me feel like the late Queen Elizabeth, corpse-like 😭😭😭
I read august blue a few months ago and I couldn’t tell you why it was gripping me but it did… smth about her life and the way it was laid out had me going huh. while also wondering what would happen next😂😂😂
Happy birthday Jack. ❤🎉 I’m reading, the Third Policeman by Flann O’Brien, Please Kill Me the Uncensored Oral History of Punk, Appointment in Samarra by John O’Hara, and Portait of the Artist as a Young Dog by Dylan Thomas.
In the run up to my 25th birthday everyone was doing the quarter of a century thing and i was getting freaked out so me and my family flew to milan for a long weekend on the day of my birthday. Ended up being a great time
Holy cow Magen fox just released her first book and you have to read it now and talk about it with us, I don’t read it yet but I will be after you until you do read it
Happy birth month! Lmao, I turn (25) in December.. mourning my early 20s with you. Heres to a quarter of century of breathing... or whatever (pls don't kill me violently, think of my cat- Marvin is a rescue). Stay True sounds cute
You should read The Hour of the Star by Clarice Lispector. Her writing is beautifully lyrical and it is exactly the kind of story that fits your reading taste. The premise is a writer writing about writing in general and telling a story about a woman who is oblivious and disconnected from society all set in Rio. There's so much social dissection and weaving through being a woman in society, especially a woman in the 70's. "Forgive me but I'm going to keep talking about me who am unknown to myself, and as I write I'm a bit surprised because I discover I have a destiny. Who hasn't ever wondered: am I a monster or is this what it means to be a person?"
Anyone. Have you read the dustlands series by Moria Young. Red blood road, rebel heart and raging star. It’s on my listen to TBR because I struggled with the writing as I’m dyslexic and it was a very unique writing style is genius. I heard good things about it and was wondering what you thought?
Jack would you please make a video about Persian literature?? 🥺🇮🇷i bet you would LOVE our mythology and your amazing bookshelf is really missing this 2500 years old culture/mythology! We really deserve to be known just as greek mythology and you are a big help for that!🥺❤
Your life doesn't end until you're dead, no reason to be upset about aging! It sounds so cliché, but just try and make the best of the point you are at now, and remember that you probably have a couple of decades ahead of you to achieve and do things you can't at this moment. In reality, here are only a few things in life that have a time limit of some sorts in which to do/achieve them*. So, happy belated birthday, hope you're not serious about your quarterlife crisis. If you're looking for something extra to read; yesterday I read We All Want Impossible Things by Catherine Newman, a short book about a woman who takes care of her best friend while that friend is going through the end stages of ovarian cancer. I rated it 5 stars, which might be a tad generous, but it felt pretty much perfect to me. I think you'll like it as well: it's sad and happy and beautiful, it's very quotable, it's a beautiful exploration of grief, love, friendships, relationships, humanity, and imperfections. Sounds right up your alley, if you ask me! *aside from some specific degenerative diseases, but I'm referring to people in Jack's situation here
Not for a newer release, especially in NYC 😊. That’s literally a 1/3 of the price. That’s the going rate where I am in Michigan and our COL is much lower than other states.

1:38 Since you love New York Stories, you should read New York Stories by Everyman’s Library Pocket Classics.
Loved A Swim in the Pond in the Rain. Does anyone know other books like it?

@@Dany-yt1zk to you too!!🥳 Wow we're nearly in our 20s huh😂
I'm turing 25 too but in November and I feel so anxious about my age :(( I feel like I'm moving so slow but time is moving to quickly.
read books other booktubers call their all time favorites
Happy birthday, I'll turn 26 this year if that’s any consolation 😂
Dude, I totally get the age thing. I hate my birthday and wouldn't even celebrate it if other people didn't care.
jack october is almost over bud

Omg, Jack. I am also freaking out because I am going to be 25. Geez. How did my life pass me by so quickly....
I hope you are doing well (:
Happy Birthday Jack! And thank you, thank you so much for standing up for Palestine 🇵🇸
I can't believe you're so young! With the amount of stuff you've done I'd figured you would be closer to late 20s early 30s
I felt like that when I went from 26 to 27. 27 felt OLD lol
as a fellow recent 25 yr old i feel that intro :////////// kinda learning to cope with the months passing tho. /j
I’m turning 26 in December if that makes you feel any better haha the fear is real!
Man freaking out over being 25, dude you're still so young 😭
