If that had been Christian Pulisic who was Captain and led his team to the semifinals of the Copa before getting injured out of the game with 1/3 of the game still to play on a dirty tackle, the likes of Kasey Keller amd other Americans would have been whining with rage about the opponents and the officiating. Instead it is Alphonso Davies this happens to, so the panel acts like the dirty tackle never happened as it is not even mentioned. I appreciate Herc standing up for us against the bitter numb nuts from Venezuela who admits he is biased, but again I ask ESPN to consider calling in somebody from Canada for a proper Canadian perspective. There are clearly a lot of Canadian viewers (potentially or actually) for this show, particularly as we move closer to 2026.

I respect the guys for calling out Canada's play but to quote a notable Brooklyn rapper "we ain't even supposed to be here." I don't think Canada's ever played such a number of top tier quality opponents in a short run: The Netherlands, France, and Argentina twice all in hostile territory. The fact that they held the Dutch to a scoreless half, drew 0-0 in France, and only conceded four goals in two matches against the friggin' World Champs and didn't play intimidated is a win in and of itself. I also like Marsch's attacking mentality which brings to mind Woody Harrelson's portrayal of John McCain campaign manager, Steve Schmidt, in the 2012 HBO Film "Game Change" (in that character's reaction to potentially picking Sarah Palin as a running mate): "If it were me, I'd rather lose by 10 points going for the win, than lose by one and say dammit we should've gone for the win." For a team that almost missed out qualifying for this tournament and to be the only non-South American side in the final four (with an additional game Saturday) win, win, win lol

I share a lot of what you say, Canada had a very good American Cup for the confederation of which it is part, they are on the right track. As for losing by 10 points (goals), it doesn't work like that, I'm against that; losing by such a number of goals for any football coaching staff, any team or national team is "making a mess and starting from scratch", it is throwing all the effort away, and as Canada did in this tournament it is quite a merit. For them, they just need to improve a little and win the games, because this time they were lucky, they reached a semi-final winning only 1 game

Also in wc qualifying in 2014 Ecuador beat Argentina in Buenos Aires. Ecuador 2 Argentina 0. Ecuador in that qualifiers had a 5 winning streak . Canada went through , because of the ref bad calls . Canada beat Peru, because of a made up call. Peru controlled the entire game . Canada only defended. And against chile. Bad call of ref . No penalty given to chile . Because chile controlled the entire game . Ended 0 v 0. Ecuador beat chile in qualifiers for 2022 qatar in Santiago de Chile. Ecuador 2 chile 0. Ecuador playing with this same squad under23 . Under 17 and 19,18 . Years old . Only 4 were with experience. Ecuador also beat uruguay. Ecuador 2 uruguay 1. In Quito, Ecuador. So concacaf is weak , playing in a amateur zone .

@Samuel88853 True that you can't press all game. But even when it was time to press in them middle 3rd, they were lethargic. There was a moment when shaffelberg picked up the ball and cut inside and the argentine right back literally caught up to him, ran around him, and took the ball from him. I couldn't believe it. Shaffelberg is nothing if not fast, and seeing him just get easily outrun like that was indicative of the state of the team

A few things can be true at the same time. Here are my thoughts:
      1. Argentina is likely the best team to ever play soccer.
      2. Canada ran out of gas.
Canada played in extreme heat in Kansas City. They had a small rotation. And, their game against Venezuela was a track meet. What an exciting game that was, but it was taxing for sure. Argentina has great depth. Was able to play all of their players and even sit Messi for a game. Had Canada sat Davies for a game, Canada likely wouldn't have made it through. Shaffelburg looked tired in the last game as did many other players including David. The heat of the final, coupled with Canada running out of gas certainly made the last game even more of an uphill battle. No excuses, and I can see why Marsch has claimed more depth is needed. Tournament football requires it. Congrats to Canada though. They really impressed.

The flopping in this game is what makes the sport unbearable to watch. Du Paul on the ground wasting time smiling.. The Argentines probably got into the player's heads with this kiddie stuff. Players should be fined and suspended for flopping.
As with the USA, Canada needs to desperately work on their positioning, it is so bad. The team looked only slightly better than USA. With that discipline, everything else is bound to be better... The goalkeeping, defense, passing, and finishing. It was all bad and better positioning would help tremendously.

Portugal won the euro by beating minnows and lost to chile in copa, then by urugay in wc and then by Belgium and then got embarrassed by morroco, atleast messi scores and asist and don't stand in box

@@sayandas3939 I never talked about Portugal or Ronaldo, I am not interested in that war between Messi and CR7, they are both good, but Messi clearly has something natural that differentiates him from the rest and from anything that can be achieved by training, but Ronaldo has enormous merit in your mentality

It never ceases to amaze me who how bias the American/Venezuelan soccer pundits can be. I never thought I would see a panel where Herculez Gomez would be the most objective. Dont worry like most Canadians. We will put our heads down work hard and get it done. No need for fanfare or praise. We will get it done. See you in a few years CONMEBOL. Especially you Alejandro. What a goof .
