Shucked reminds me of Parks and Rec with how non-stop the perfectly timed jokes and puns come at the expense of a small town and its inhabitants. It would be nothing without the amazing songs in between, which aren’t really completely Bright Star country-fied as this would have you believe. It’s rare to have a show surprise you, and none can do that better than a completely original story like Shucked.

Saw the corn cob and thought “ this looks fun”. Well, it was hilarious. If you liked Greater Tuna and other quick-witted shows, you’ll love every minute of this. We were sorry it ended. Planning another trip to NYC to see it again.
I saw this on the first preview back in Utah where it debuted and I have to say this show alone makes me wish I could move to NYC just to see it again!

CBS and Tracy Smith, you are incorrect in your statement on other country themed Broadway shows. The revival of Annie Get Your Gun was not staring Reba. It was originally Bernadette Peters. Reba replaced her later in the run. However the show was more successful and better with Reba in the show! (Bernadette was good but it was made for Reba!)

Musicals are gestated. Some shows take decades to see daylight. I'm not surprised that the creators feel like they're watching their child growing up and coming into its' own.

I wish the show well, but this is definitely NOT country music but rather tin pan alley. If one expects to hear bluegrass music or banjos, mandolins, fiddles and acoustic guitars at work one will be disappointed.
From what I've heard thus far, some songs should be categorized as indie folk, while others sound like your standard musical number.
