- They say farmers never truly retire, but Charles Koiner of Koiner Farm in Silver Spring takes that to a whole new level. At 97, Charles still farms full-time, with the help of his 72-year-old daughter, Lynn Koiner. For years, Charles has refused to sell his property. Now, to show their appreciation, community members, including founder Kate Medina, have created the Charles Koiner Center for Urban Farming to help ensure the farm will stay in agriculture for years to come.
Charles Koiner sadly passed away in January of 2019.

My mom is 95. She’s still in great health, sees extremely well, reads magazines in dim light, has great memories and conversations. Only walks with the the help of a walker, because she is not physically active (-never worked out). Being Asian, we lead a lifestyle of cats, not sportive, no real diet, but maintain a great shape. :-) (from California)
Bringing community back to modern suburbs. Key to sustainability. They are way ahead of the rest of their generation. 💗💗
What a beautiful man creating a love and show people. Money is not everything.
God truly bless him. Love his work ethic.
What a wonderful story!
How wonderful! We all believe in reincarnation but very few invest on that. Great to see these pals in Maryland have made some great investment. Cheers

This is such a wonderful video and a wonderful idea.
Inspirational
Old farmers where I'm from was so easy to spot, as they had a certain walk, coming from carrying buckets and driving wheelbarrows for a lifetime.
Garden of Eden I have been looking for you for a lifetime 😍❣️😍
Bless your heart.
Sadly, the moment a new owner get ahold of this land, it'll over.
It's being held in trust with the city council on the condition that it'll never be developed and continue usage as community farm/garden.
We should put our phones down and start living like him all the mass school shootings will stop
RIP
Oodles of peppers.

Damn that land is getting stolen as soon as they kick the bucket
that farm is going to be gone if no one takes over
Last thing I’d do is turn it over to the state.
One acre is not a farm
A Farm is a piece of property used to grow crops and/or livestock. How many acres is not the definition.
She ruined it at the end with her believes in reincarnation
Grate working man👏👏👏
