Leaving Siquijor Island back to Dumaguete for a final night before returning home to Iloilo City. I have enjoyed my two trips here to figure out what the costs of living, quality of life and the overall vibe of the area is, all on the hunt for my next place to live in the Philippines.

We have travelled around the Philippines and many other places in the world. Recently purchased a place in Valencia, just outside of Dumaguete. From what I gather, they're both highly regarded as retirement destinations for expats, boasting excellent food, top-notch hospitals, a wide array of activities, and, most importantly, warm and welcoming people. We are here right now because Iloilo city where we bought our retirement house is so crowded with tourist for the festival now. Unfortunately me and my wife have to go back to US tommorow. Like you we are having the same situation with our relationship since moving in Iloilo for our retirement. I found out that it is hard to keep a married relationship there specially if you are a US military retiree and married to a white western lady like me. I always feel envious seeing those old expats with their young Filipina partners and my wife always get jealous seeing those young Filipinas making a move on me. So we decided just to go back to US with our kids and just keep our vacation house there in Iloilo just for vacation base. Thanks for your vlog about Iloilo for best destination for retiree. It is still best place for me.

Great video Mike, Like you i think I'm not a night club kind of guy, but Ive been taken to night clubs in Cebu and Davao by Filipino friends and I had some brilliant nights out, they are not like night clubs in western countries, much more fun. Don't write it off, you might be surprised.

Good video Michael and you had a great tour guide in Alex. You can always come back again and do more exploring. All along from Dumaguete around to Bayaway there is so much to see and a lot of it I have not seen yet. Also the Valencia market on Sunday is a must try experience. I will be heading there in the morning to get some fresh veggies and other goodies. Maybe next time you come back we can hookup for a couple beers

A bit further down the road would be where you should look at, between Lantaw and the Airport and also a bit down from Lantaw, there is Hayahay Treehouse Restobar
Montenegro is an ok Ferry. Prices on Ferries seem to have gone up since we left in 2020. Breakfast looked tasty! Cafe Racer has good steaks and other western food, you can buy the Pinay food from Lantaw which is owned by the same people. Love their remodeling. The Filet steak was about 375 when we were there, but the exchange rate was lower so only slightly more. Nice to see your GF seem to be together again.

Check out Romblon area everyone gos to Borocay, I would be checking out Looc and all of tablas, Romblon Romblon they’ve got all the marble and nice plates and stuff you can send back to your family, and San Fernando Sibuyan.
Maybe you can get your friend from Roxas to go with you.
Haven't been there yet have spent a week in Tablas Romblon and enjoyed my time there!

I was thinking about Dumaguete because it has a golf course but just read that it’s only a 9 hole course.
So you should complete your round in under 100 :)
Just look into their website Dumaguete Golf and Country Club and the track looks good. It is a 9 holes but played at Par 72 total of 6161 yards. I remember they fully renovated it on 2019 so I might try this one soon.

I was just reading the “Pregnant Passenger” notice at the OceanJet station. I find it interesting that it isn’t addressed to “you”. Rather, they use “they”. I wonder if on paper, Filipinos prefer not to be direct so as not to come off as rude.
In Filipino he/she is the same word so they often say she even if talking about a man. They don't mean anything deep about it

It is unlawful to carry bladed, pointed or blunt weapon such as knife outside of such residences except if the tools is used for livelihood such as bolo, machete but not definitely in the city or any public gathering.
