I loved that you broke the painting down into 4 easy steps because this gave an active 12 yr old the ability to paint, take a break, and not feel overwhelmed but confident that he could finish because the four steps were well timed and easy to follow. The northern lights capture a dynamic magic in celestial nature. In life they move and dance in the sky, slowly transforming with subtle vibrancy. The still shots are amazing too. This painting begins to capture the magic. I have painted them before but plan to tackle them again this winter. This could be my starting point tutorial. That is so cool love it,now I will take it and combine it with a ribbon pour as the ombre night ,let it dry,then do a gesso texture for the tree line ,and do the auora with your technique the moon and splatters as well

i don't have mop brush what can i substitute it for ?
Any brush you get a soft blend from. The #1 thing you should do is spend some time with your brushes practicing the basic techniques so you always have two or three you know will do a job. If you can't get a technique with any of them then you may want another brush.
