Bollywood is ruled by Northerners( _above Delhi states&UTs people, NOT the whole central-east ganga region above south_ ), punjabi families in particular & West India people, like Sindhis etc. This North-West region, or Indus Valley Civilization religion, has the kareena kapoor phenotype quite common, especially in Haryana/Kashmir/Ladakh/Himachal/Punjab people/Upper half of Pakistan. That's where a lot bollywood legacy comes from.

Thanks Rick and Korbin , you guys brought up a really important topic over here. It’s not just in the film industry , racial discrimination is in-fact is a social stigma all over India. Dark/brown/black skinned people are made fun off and even sometimes made feel inferior. Skin care Product commercials in Televisions were named “Fair and Lovely” (Before) which is now changed to “Glow and Lovely” due to the fact that they’re glorifying the colour white/pale skin tone and discriminating with the dark coloured skins.

Funny story, the music composer Vishal-Shekhar were taking way more time to compose the songs for the film. So, when SRK asked them about the reason behind the delay ,they falsely said the song is ready but they are unable to find an apt singer. SRK said just say the name of the singer. They said someone like Akon! ( B'coz they knew it would be impossible).
Next day, Akon came to the studio, learned hindi in a month and recorded the song.
Producer for reason
Vishal-Shekhar blended Hindi and Tamil so well that they deserve lot of praise and they made Akon sing in Hindi.

This is from movie Ra-One. The movie is great. You should watch it!!!! It's heartbreaking yet happy for some of them. The woman in red is a wife to Shekhar. After her husband's death, she lost her ways until her husband's creation came for her, to safe her. Later, she started to have feelings for the robot and refused to terminate him, only bcs he looks like her late husband. The guy (G.One - dancing guy) is a robot from game character that's created by the boy's father, Shekhar, that passed away due to Ra.One's action, which have identical face. He's protecting the woman and child (Shekhar's spouse and son) from another evil character from the game that came alive as he did, named Ra.One (acted out by Arjun Rampal).
And yes, Akon learned Hindi language to sing this song ❤️

Rick you are right. Most of the Indians are obsessed with fair skin. For example when i was a kid i was little brown(i still am) and my relatives used to ask my mother to make my skin fairer by fairness cream or homemade pastes or else no good man will marry me. Because of that i grew up with very low self esteem. I was not good in talking to people especially to boys Because i thought they would not like me. I hated myself for my skin color. My confidence was in negative. But then i met somebody couple of years ago who told me that beauty is inside not outside. And that i should feel beautiful in my skin. That person changed my thinking. And he is handsome that's what made me realize that love doesn't care about color or any other physical features.

That is actually true though, I've been confused most of my times like why where do I stand, it is so wrong here for discrimination... Not anymore though, people are getting very very knowledgeable & why this is not important and every person brown or not have their own beauty... I have a fair and at times pale skin by birth and so does my mother is also pale... People call her Kashmiri and Northern to me I have small eyes.. Personally white girls freak me out.. It removes the definition of one's natural beauty or facial features and people think white is good color lol... I like tanned and brown skin girls with no makeup on!! 😎 people call me wierd for that..
