- The Coin Show put on by the Missouri Numismatic Association attracts coin dealers, numismatists, stackers, and fans of exonumia from all over the Midwest and beyond. It also attracted at least one person who had bad intentions. This video is an interview that I conducted with a local coin dealer who not only was present, but the key figure in the apprehension of a serial coin thief! I hope you enjoy watching this video and hearing this fascinating story as much as I enjoyed making it. Special THANK YOU to coin dealer, Andy for not only sharing this story, but for being the guy who stopped the coin crook cold in his tracks!
Check out Andy's new CZcams channel and tell 'em T sent ya!

Wow! So glad the guy was caught! It's scary to think how they practice their slight of hand. Great interview T!
Thanks Sal! I was really glad Andy was willing to share his story.
Every coin show should have a huge photo printed of this thief, and posted at the door to warn people about him. Lets make him famous to the coin collector community.
Good idea!
Thank you so much for having me! I'm glad to be able to share the story so people can learn what to look for, and what to do if they ever experience a similar situation!
Absolutely!! Awesome interview. Can’t wait for my viewers to see it tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your story with me!
Thanks, T, for turning me on to Numismatic Interviews. Thanks, Andy -- you have a new subscriber!
Glad they got this guy. And thanks for getting this story and his picture out for everyone to see. Cheers!
Right on!!
What a scumbag . Glad they caught him 👊🏻
Absolutely!
4:07 🖐️🤚🔨 Maybe the Thief will think twice when he can’t use his hands
I remember Andy since about the time I began collecting. Saw him first at John’s store and the at Dr Friedman’s
He knows his stuff!
5:01 I know that look well. I spent 8 yrs investigating fraud and prosecuting thieves. This story warms my heart.
: )
good call on this dealers part, trust your gut when something seems wrong
Absolutely!
Another great video! Glad they caught this miscreant!
WOW 😳 I hope he gets the Max penalty, thanks for getting him.✅✌️
Yes. Thanks!
Nice to hear he was caught and hopefully out of business! What a scumbag.
One of my earliest silver stacking purchases is a similar art bar from Southeast Refining in Panama city as I used to go there every year for family vacation. My former father in law was from Maryville, so I've been there!
Yep! People ripping off honest folks is a really sad situation. Thanks buddy!
Glad to hear that this bastard was caught. We got similar issues over here at coin shows with crooks and thieves so the dealer community decided to hire some security guys. Great and very informative show, keep it up, T ! Greets from GER, U.
Yessir! Busted and disgusted!
Good to get the information out and about.
Yes! Absolutely!
T!!!! That is just incredible. Thank you guys for sharing it. Don't even want to say how it makes me feel.
Glad you enjoyed it! Wait till you see the next one!
@@TtheSilverStacker you always come through. I have no doubt it’s going to be awesome. Thank you T
I hate thieves.
Same!
I've been waiting to hear more about this since my local coin dealer was there and saw this go down. This probably means greater security measures will be needed in the future. I hope the thief pays dearly for his crimes.
Yes! Agreed. Thanks for watching!
Be careful what you wish for, security yes but not to intrusive for the honest people who come to shop. Not to be interrogated. For the hobby we all enjoy.😅
Andy is a hero!
Right on!
Thanks for sharing, if we see him in Kansas we will be watching.
Please do!
I've never been to a coin show, maybe one day. I'm glad they caught the guy there's no telling how long that piece of $#!+ got away with doing that. Great video T I was late to the stream so I went back and watch from the start. Stay safe & Keep on stacking brother.
If you like going to your local coin shop, you'll love attending a coin show.
I appreciate you watching! Thanks!
The sad truth is that this hobby is ripe for scammers because so much of what we do is based on cash transactions. Be careful, be watchful and if it feels wrong, it probably is wrong.
Very true!
Cash payments has nothing to do with this; this is someone who's been trained or trained himself at sleight of hand. Many of these people are from Eastern European countries where they learn this and then come to America
Now you got me paranoid. I wanted to setup a table at some shows
I may be naive, but I feel that 99% of people would never dream of stealing. Gotta watch out for that one!
What a piece of work. Great job with this interview!
Yes! Piece of something! Lol! Thanks!!
a very good friend of mine is a coin trader / seller..he caught one kid trying to steal a coin from his table..broke the punk's jaw and called the cops...the kid was WANTED in two other thefts,,,
Wow!
Greetings to my friend Andrew.
I was there but I missed all that drama!!!
Same here. I went Saturday.
Worked retail for sports outfit and can tell you first hand that ive had customers and employees steal from me. You name it: sneakers, boots, football jerseys. Head had to be on a swivel constantly; most hated part of the job. Some individuals are just complete scumbags and have no thought how their thievery can impact your job.
Got to watch for these crooks. I sell antiques and coins at flea markets on occasion, and have encountered pairs that work together, one to distract, while the other steals. The second person would get out of line of sight, and the theft would begin. More than once, I've stopped any business, and would tell the second person to not go behind me. They are quite brazen.
Thanks for sharing!
You have to have your head on a swivel at those shows. When sellers aren't comfortable its hard to start up a conversation or ask questions
Glad they caught the bad apple.
As a dealer, do you think you need to setup a couple security cameras at your botth and a sign that says " smile you are on camera?" It sucks that things are this bad.
If a dealer asked to see my attache I would happily show (out of public view) as a legitimate businessman. Maybe it would spark a good conversation and build a relationship with the dealer.
I’ve actually seen that where a dealer has cameras set up and thought it was overkill. Then I interviewed Andy and I have a whole new opinion!
Suspicious looking character yes indeed
Yessir!
👏👏👏One thief off the streets! Great job!
Yes! Thank you for watching!
Grand Theft. That's a huge felony.
Yes
Wow that is a crazy amount of money ,so sad they think they need it more than you
Yes. Crazy for sure!
Fascinating story. I may have brushed elbows with the guy.
Crazy, huh?
Word on the street is he is claiming he was off his medication and most likely will get probation. Hopefully this will alert other dealers to watch out more.
Yes. BS defense.
Lock him up, crazy how he got away with so much theft
🔥🦈🌊
Yes! Definitely!!
Thieves are scumbags. Hopefully authorities can track down who he's selling to.
Yep!!!
I sold my buffalo nickle collection to Silver Towne and the guy asked me how long it had taken me to make such a great matching set of coins , all ex f , all the same lustre and color, I said about 10 years , I just enjoyed them more than the other coins and he offered me a job lol. I probably would have taken it if I didn't live 2 hours away.
Good thing they caught him.
Yes!
If this happens to anyone, put them under citizens arrest, you are under arrest, you're a criminal and you are guilty. You will not survive.. RIP... Works every time.
Mental condition? No, greed and selfishness without repentance
I think you’re right.
Awesome video T 👍
Thanks Kayne!
People just never learn!
True
Good video. I'm happy they caught the scumbag thief. I can't say that I like the blue line gang flag you put up tho. I'm a proud American that only stands up and gives his pledge to the true American flag. I believe you have the right to like whatever you want so I'm not saying anything against you. I'm just saying I don't like that blue line flag.
No worries. I have quite a few cop friends. Good folks.
Anthony -- i'm with you. The news was shocking and interesting enough without that side-trip. It was the dealer, his cohorts, and the venue's security guards who did the actual policing.
Way to blow the lid on my side hustle T😂😂😂😂
So you’re the SoCal bandito they call Palmin’ Chris!
@@TtheSilverStacker 😂😂😂
The “Horse” and the “Snake” are Lunar Series. The Asian Lunar calendar has 12 Animals, they correspond to certain years.
Some Lunar sets are very collectible.
Note: Many people call it the Chinese Lunar calendar but it is not exclusive to China or Chinese culture
Thanks for the education!
We need to do what they do in other countries. Wack off a hand. Really. I mean that's a hell of a deterrent and let's you know who the thieves are.
Awesome! Congrats from Miles @Steel valley coin n currency(oh) Andrews a top notch dealer I've done business in past.
Very cool!
Unfortunately this guy will be back on the streets in no time...particularly since the coins were retrieved. Yes I know about this game first hand!😢
I hope the folks in Missouri give an appropriate punishment.
My dad worked as the accountant for silver towne
Wow! I’d love to visit someday.
People can be such scummy f****rs... That guy took like a yearly salary in a couple hours... I wish we lived back in the cowboy days 🔫🤠
Yessir pardner!
He'll spend rest of his life, what's left of it, behind bars.
Yep
The individual looks like the guy who robbed the Traxx NY jewelry store in August 2023
No kidding? I’ll have to watch that video.
Wow
All I could think was that this dude looked familiar 🤔
Maybe I've actually seen him at a show that I've been at.
Makes me think 🤔
Hmmm. I’m sure he’s been around a lot!
Bravo Zulu
Well done .LOCK HIM UP..
Cant trust anyone especially around valuables
You got that right!
Doubt, it was his first offense.
Yep!
I'm going support forehead tattoos for thieves like this.
Tough punishment for bums like this.
i live in north west indiana, what’s the best coinshop? im looking for bu silver eagles closest to spot, im thinking it’s vault bullion

@@TtheSilverStacker what do you prefer for price though?🤔
Hi everyone!
Hi!
Hero
Yes!
I live between Springfield & Bloomington, IL.
Is this guy from Lincoln, IL?
Not sure. Look familiar?
@@TtheSilverStacker
Not really, but I’m going to watch out for him!
Im from IL. I would assume its Lincoln b/c that's the next "major" town/city between Bloomington/Normal and Springfield on I-55. Maybe Clinton, IL that's east of Lincoln but still halfway between other two cities.
People still say Redhanded 😢
What’s wrong with that term? I didn’t know it was offensive to anyone.
One of our greatest faults in human nature is trusting others.
Life is pretty miserable without trust. The issue is learning who to trust and with what. I've had friends I could trust with my wallet but not my wife, and vice versa.
I’m probably way too trusting.
Really. Pretty sad if you can't trust anyone.
Would anyone like to bet that he does not get 3-10 years? I bet they drop 2 of the charges because of his age and lack of a record and make him pay a fine plus probation and community service.
It will be interesting to find out. I’ll try to make a follow up video.
Sound to low
Sorry about that.
no offense intended here but hear me out. When someone you are interviewing is telling a story like the man here, don't interrupt him with a story similar to his that YOU have. It is disrespectful to start with and shows a lack of interest on your part in that while he's talking to you, you are thinking about your own experiences and then interrupting him to tell YOUR story. This is a common theme with people who don't train themselves in interview techniques and instead of simply listening, you are listening to respond. It's very irritating and I feel for the guy who has a story and gets interrupted with, yeah I did the same thing with so-in-so and then he has to pick back up where you stopped him. I spent 30 years in media so I know of what I speak. STOP interrupting the people who are gracious enough to give you their time and experiences.
Had to exit out of the video just for this reason.
@edallen4936 I don't think people understand that they are doing this so it's nearly impossible to improve on it. Generally speaking people are more interested in themselves than others and it shows in various ways.
I’m not a pro. I’m learning. Thanks for the tips.
So sad these events are supposed to be fun and informative and full of history not a place for thieves and dishonest people
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
