But you know what? I also feel bad for the player. What do you think? I've never seen anything like this, and of course it happened at loanDepot Park, which is the weirdest venue in Major League Baseball.
The Pittsburgh Pirates were here to face the Miami Marlins, and of all people, it was last year's NL Cy Young Award winner, Sandy Alcantara, who had this funny interaction with the fan.
Meanwhile I had a particularly frustrating time at this game (which took place on June 23, 2023). The Marlins were supposed to use commemorative baseballs for their 30th anniversary, but because of a mistake on their part, those balls were NOT used. So now what? Do I need to come back to Miami this season and try again to catch one? Uggggghhhhhhh.

Don't worry kiddo. We all miss, even with experience. One time I played in an adult league softball game in left field. I thought for sure the ball was coming right to me, & it sailed over my head. You'll catch on (no puns intended) in no time !👍

Because he is doing stuff that a little kid does. I give him credit he does give away balls to kids which is cool, but much of what he does is quit childish.

Same deal with the Marlins at Fenway recently--those guys threw a higher percentage of balls to the crowd in BP than any team ever. (Thanks for pointing out Alcantara, now I realize he's the one who threw my my 69th career baseball.)

This is Noah (the ball boy from your last video) I wanted to comment what i'm about to tell you on your last video, but I didn't know whether you'd see it or not. it was a pleasure meeting you and if you're ever back in Miami for a game let me know! I actually happened to get quite a good amount of the 30th anniversary baseballs (like 3 or 4 in great condition). anyways I'm sure you saw already but I warm up the left fielder (typically Bryan de la Cruz) and throw a ball out to the center fielder (now Dane Myers). I get these balls from a bag that the bullpen pitching coach gives me before each game. And I saw that there where some 30th anniversary balls inside said bag, I asked the coach if I could take them home and he said yes! Long story short i'd be willing to give you one if you want whenever you come back to Miami. :) Love your videos man keep up the great content 🙌

And I did figure that might be the case. but I think you're in luck because I'm staying a little longer in Miami because the trip I told you about got postponed by a few months (which I'm actually not to upset about). so If you do ever come back I can hook you up with a ball as a "official marlins employee" 😂.

I try to be generous with foul balls because I remember I heard this one quote from Michael Jordan where he basically explained, that for some people it may be the only game they'll ever be able to go to. so I try to make it as fun as possible for said fans. :)

yeah jon jay is the most humble guy Ive ever met, i got his autograph in 2015 while on a tour of Busch Stadium. he was on the IL at the time and he was just on the field taking flyballs and playing catch with Jamie Garcia, the cardinals were on the road so it was just Jamie and Jon

@zack what was the attendance at that game? Do you look for games that may be lower attendance as part of your strategy or way of keeping costs down?
11,843 and yes! I try to avoid crowded games, mostly because it's way more fun for me and easier to film. The money isn't a factor in making those decisions.

Instead of the player getting annoyed at the fan that can’t catch a ball, he should be thinking the fan in question wasn’t actually taught how to effectively catch a baseball, instead of getting mad, teach the person the mechanics and techniques of catching a baseball, it’s not the fan’s fault he doesn’t know how read a thrown and hit ball in how to catch it on the fly or a ball thrown. There’s always room for understanding and compassion.
I agree but in the moment it's hard to think like that, I guess?
