The only slight positive about Saliba potentially leaving further down the line would be he'd no doubt end up being a world record transfer fee for a defender and we'd have an insane amount of money to reinvest into the squad. Obviously I'd still prefer it if we kept him for another 5 years plus. Insane to think he'd only be 29 years old in 2030!

If his form continues this year it might be worth trying to get an extension and upping the wages even more considering a sale down the line would generate £100m or more anyway. Charles, i think Calafiori will be making his move to Arsenal if they can reach an agreement with Bologna! This potential signing looks like a great market opportunity and i think it would be a good LB signing to be honest. Kiwior can now shift into his more natural left CB role(or be sold as Motta worked with Kiwior at Spezia). Looks like Bologna president literally meant it when he said Calafiori won't be ending up at Juventus. You were also right on the point that Calafiori wouldn't mind a transfer abroad as he had already played in Switzerland. This feels quite remarkable because previous transfer relating to Vlahovic or Locatelli didn't worked out well and it felt more like Italian clubs used Arsenal as part of their negotiation strategy. It seems Arsenal did become one of the most attractive clubs in Europe!

If we sign Calafiori or a similar LCB/LB I can see us playing something like this against the weaker teams.
Tomi/Kiwior could also play this LB/LCB role.
Gabriel as our weakest on-ball defender would come out or rotate with Saliba.
I think inverting from the right makes more sense and Timber can also play outside of Saka at times, allowing Saka and Ode to play inside off Kai.
Quiet Kimmich links are also interesting as a 6 / inverted RB....

    Thanks for the updates!
In terms of the Saliba to PSG/Madrid rumours and with players like Saliba, Saka, Martinelli coming towards the 2 year mark on their contracts where the club has recently liked to start renewal conversations, is there a risk that Arsenal actually can't afford to renew those deals? The players are already on incredibly high base wages and the Kroenke's are known to favour a financially self-sustained model, so I''m wondering whether we may actually need to consider either selling a bigger name or accepting that they'll leave for free when their contracts expire.

Firstly, under no circumstances do I foresee Saliba ever leaving the Emirates anytime soon unless something unthinkably catastrophic happens like we finish 13th or Mike leaves. Yes the suitors will come because such is the quality of the player but there's just no way he's going to leave for those reasons and the ones you've mentioned.
Secondly, I know it's a bit much to ask considering you already have something with James Benge and TNAT but would it be possible to also do a show dedicated to the Arsenal women every now and again? I think it'd be a good way to get more Gunners invested into our women's side and what they're all about outside of transfers, occasional big match results and some drama that might come out. 1. Milan fans betted their future kids and even the tools to make em kids that Tonali won't leave... Until Tonali found out that the Williams odds on him leaving was really attractive....

      2. Some fans has the worse mindset. We are gonna do everything to win the UCL from RM next season, thats how Im seeing MY CLUB! stop worshipping players and undermine the club u support. We are on the road to greatness and your tiny mindset is not needed.

Calafiori is a player we don't need.
A Partey replacement is what Arsenal needs, because watching Rice in an England shirt, it's easy to see he's not it.

Why would Arsenal sell a well proven defender Gabriel who made top partnership with Saliba and bring new player who needs to adapt premier league? Arsenal should stop this kind of thing and they should learn from Xhaka. Don't sell a well adapted player.

I absolutely hate how we now play English clubs in preseason. It's such a slap in the face to the non-American fans.

  • @andrewnaamukongakonteh7143

We cannot build our project with Saliba añd Real Madrid will not come and start dismantling it.
Real Madrid should go somewhere else for a CB.

I love Saliba but if he wants to win a lot of big trophies he should leave, this is the season where we need to show we can win major trophies. He will be gone next year if we go another trophyless season sadly.

I cannot understand why Arsenal would buy on the strength of one tournament, when we already have Kiwior? Or are we replacing Gabriel - who always has one mistake in him?

We dont need Calafiori or any CB for that matter. We already have Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior, White, Timber and Tomiyasu. We should be prioritising other areas. The italian league is garbage as is the national team.
