He says to leave the window in the "unlock" position which is incorrect. You'll note that he has to hold the window in place when he's lowering it. You need to place the window in the "lock" position then just lower the back and you don't have to worry about the window coming loose. I own an Avalanche.
FAIL: Wow he has no clue. The Round latches cam lock the window in place. Also the Mid gate can open with that center latch leaver. No need to take out the window unless you want the extra space. Do over... LOL
Maybe check the instructions before making an instructional video. The rear glass should be secured with the twist locks before you fold the midgate down.
Guy in the video is a dumbass and looks like he had never even tried doing it before rolling cameras. The locking knobs are to lock the window into the gate. The only complaint I have is that the little pictures might lead someone to believe they unlock the gate. Probably what the idiot did. Junk design? Hardly. The midgate is actually really slick from a design standpoint. You can drop the gate by turning the center handle with the window in place and it opens into an 8-foot bed that is still sealed from the weather. Or, you pop the glass out, stow it (lock it in with the round knobs) in the gate, and turn the same center handle and the gate comes down with the crossmember attached so you can have a fully open bed after removing the bed panels, which conveniently stack against the side of the bed. Some real voodoo witchcraft mechanical engineering went into making that work, and it works really well. If anything at Chevy is junk on this, it's the marketing, because hardly anyone I know even knew anything about the midgate as THE defining feature of the truck. They all thought it was an oversized Ridgeline.
My point was wth make the consumer dick with the glass? Make it roll down into the part that folds down. You don't think people would have crap in the back facing the glass surface when you fold it that would damage that exposed glass? Seems obvious. I would have been impressed if it auto-rolled down into the folding portion AS you flipped the lower part forward and down.
if rolled down like that you couldn't leave the window in and just fold the gate down, you would always have to have it open to the elements. They did it like this for a reason....
And this is how you crack your window.
Thought of practicing it first before filming??

I wish the window round roll into the gate like a bronco or old blazer tail gate.
