Reasons why you should never argue with a narcissist
#1. 1st of all to a narcissist, you are always wrong and they are right. Because of that, their minds can’t fathom that any of what you are saying is valid. Because of that their minds are closed from the get go.
#2. They tend to be skilled manipulators and bullies. That means that if they need to go as far as put you down to make themselves feel good, they have no problem doing that. So for example, narcissists find it easy to stir up the pot and bring up your mistakes so as to prove that something is wrong with you.
#3. Whatever you say is going to get flipped and distorted into something else anyway. So for example, narcissists are good at focusing on small irrlevant details and exaggerating them. In doing so, they shift the focus and deflect from whatever it is that they don’t want to hear to some other area where they are better able to one-up you.
My advice for you is don’t bother. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is just see a person for who they are and choose not to engage. What for? At the end of the day you won’t change them anyway.
