    2018 was a mic drop year for RMC!
    They blew everyone away with Steel Vengence, debuted their raptor model to rave reviews, and still converted 2 additional woodies into hybrids.
    RMC went into the 2010s as an underdog and came out of the decade rollin' with the big boys!

      Really was a banner year for RMC. At my home park (Kings Dominion) the converted woodie became Twisted Timbers, which is probably one of the most acclaimed coasters in the park now. Truly an amazing transformation, especially if you were familiar with the roughness of the woodie it was (Hurler).

    Noteworthy - Cedar Fair was planning to build Gold Striker at CGA for the 2009 season, I was a member of ACE back then. I think it was first announced in late 2007 and then the stock market crashed a year later. They even announced the layout which went unchanged. I remember it surprising me that the plan didn’t change after 4 whole years. Even disappointed me, I wanted a Blitz Coaster. I STILLLL want a blitz coaster. ‘Twould be a perfect addition considering they can’t build coasters above 100 feet, speaking of which, I don’t for a second believe that a Hyper is coming to CGA. The locals won’t allow it, they’ve never supported the park, and I loathe them with a passion!! Good day!!

    I think I have an idea for a new ride model. So basically, what happens is you go up a chainlift backwards. At the top you stop for a second and then drop down and head up into a half loop and two corkscrews faced in a way to function as a turn around. You go through one more vertical loop, go back up a chainlift, this time facing forward. You roll back and go through the layout backwards over again. I would call this revolutionary ride a Boomerang. I’m lucky I’m so original! 😀

      Dal was one of the lead coaster designers at Arrow before it crumbled & for a looong time prior. He lead designed Magnum XL-200 for example, even if Ron Toomer stole the official lead design credit (as he also did for a number other big Arrow rides as the firm's nominal "head coaster designer" for a major stretch of time back then. Not that Ron isn't a RIDICULOUSLY talented coaster designer in his own right, because he totally is. He's just been inaccurately credited for some things that aren't exactly 100% legitimate as described).

    I find it interesting how certain park and construction firm combos emerge as "trend setters" in different decades. In the 90's it was Six Flags Great America and the debut of B&M, in the 00's it was Cedar Point and Intamin, and the 10's it was probably Fiesta Texas and RMC.

      @tcrpgfan Před 2 lety +1

      I dunno if I agree with that statement, especially since SFMM and Cedar Point entered what is effectively an arms race in the 90s that they haven't technically stopped. Hell, Magic Mountain by itself is basically a must for any coaster enthusiast's bucket list mainly because it features a ton of unique coasters with seriously buffed-up stats. No really most of the roller coasters there have some kind of record.

    I do have to point out, since it was my favorite coaster at one time. SOB wasnt the first inverting wooden coaster. The loop wasn't a problem. And the loop had steel supports, but the track was virtually pure wood (minus the typical steel plating).
    Outlaw run also straddles that grey area of.. "is it truly a wooden inverting coaster?".
    Off-topic: personally, I consider topper track to be not a hybrid coaster, but a hybrid-track coaster.

    Steel Curtain is an amazing roller coaster! It's very smooth and fast. With 9 inversions I was pretty impressed with that, but was a little nervous that it might mess with my head, but it didn't. I love inversions, but there have been a few times I've ridden a roller coaster with inversions and gotten off with my head feeling weird. Too bad that Zierer didn't kick off with a drop track on their coasters. I thought that was so different and unique when I rode Verbolten back in December.
