Very nice! I just recently bought my first Mercedes, and driving it home, the Mercedes standard star jumped out at me. I realized I hadn't driven a car with a proper hood ornament in a very long time.
I also love the Mercedes star…. Just got myself a w213 … it feels wired without the star on the bonnet… an also my wife doesn’t like it and asked if we could get one installed… now we will thank you for a great demonstration!
You certainly make this look easy. I want to do this on my 2018 E400 - not only for the look, but because the hood dips a bit in front making it difficult to judge the front of the vehicle and this will make it easier to line up the car when parking. Parking Assist is only that - an 'assist'...also the sensors in front cannot tell you when there is a curb in front that is lower than the bumper - unless of course you already hit it! As an 'older' female driver this should have been an option.
Nicely done! I am thinking exactly what you are thinking. I have owned several Mercedes and currently own a W213 with a flat star. I am thinking of doing what you have done because I love looking at the standing star. The car does not look like a Merc without it!
Many car manufacturers (Mercedes, Jaguar...) do not use anymore vertical emblems in their cars because of the damage it can cause to pedestrians in case of accidents. In EU is needed to get higher ratings in crash tests certifications. Only on luxury models the vertical emblems are still used but there is an automatic system that in case of accidents make them return inside the hood. Anyway the classic look is very good!
I have a question, I installed the Mercedes Benz star hood emblem on my w204 2013 and it turned out that water is seeping under the logo into the hood, is that ok?
Should have got the magnetic star that drops in & you can take it out when shopping etc. stops people breaking it off as many have had done, I my self had mine broken on my estate, ill change it to a magnetic one on my new merc
I have been to an automatic car wash numerous times and have not had trouble. Sometimes I just have to manually adjust the star so it is straight again. Just make sure to buy an authentic hood star instead of a cheap aftermarket. The real one is strong and flexible.
I think it's a matter of personal choice, for me I prefer the raised star because all the old Mercedes I have had had one and I like to see it on the end of the bonnet when driving. So it draws my attention more than the big star on the grille
Ted Carol Collins Totally agree. I ordered it so I’ll see if I like it or not! My car is black with chrome all around so I reckon it should be a nice addition. Thanks for your reply!!
Just chiming in to tell you that it’s generally frowned upon to have both the standing star and emblem on the grill, don’t let it affect you if you enjoy it though.

My sentiments entirely. Can't beat the classic look!
“bonnet” and “boot” for “hood” and “trunk” just slay me! 😆😂🤣

On my Mercedes there is a button to raise the suspension so one could use it to miss a high curb, as well making it easier to step out of the car.
@@TedCarolCollins I bought mine used and don't think it has that feature.
thanks man you helped out so much
This man knows what he's talking about
Wow this is excellent. I had no idea it was like that and so easy!

“Merc” = “Mercury”
“Merz” = “Mercedes Benz”
Now it looks much better.
Spot on
Great ! 👍🏻👍🏻

2006 SL500 does not have that cutout. Just two tiny holes for studs.

Nice work , how to make a new Mercedes to as a classic 🤘

Do you have the part number?

Hello sir. Can the hood ornament be changed on a 2015 C220D ?
Removing the star and putting the flat one on?
Is it possible to know the reference of the star hood for this model? I have a C class state- 2016 year
The one I fitted was purchased of eBay second hand and unbranded
@@TedCarolCollins Did you install an original mercedes emblem or aftermarket one?
There was no number on the one I fitted, I know I took a big risk as one does in life but the result was amazing
How does the star work if I’m going to the carwash? Will it damage the star?
I always hand wash my Mercedes

Can any one help me look for a 2018 E class part ?
I purchased the one I used second-hand on eBay
I want to put this on my 2017 c class.. trying to figure out if it looks weird having the hood emblem and the big star on the grille 🤔

@@averagekicker1494 You may be right, but it's still good to have freedom of choice
Very cool!Thnx for the info👍
Please. I need parts number
Easy to install, easy to steal. That’s why higher end Benz’ have theirs automatically retract.
