Every kitchen I’ve ever worked in was always nasty in some way shape or form . I was never forced to wash my hands at McDonald’s I always took it upon myself to wash my hands and other workers would actually ask me why I was washing my hands so much … (because I switched from handling money back to food) I still work in a kitchen just not McDonald’s anymore and I wash my hands after : handling money , touching raw pork or chicken or any raw meat , touching my face or hair , eating , whenever I leave the kitchen for a bathroom break , when I leave the kitchen for a lunch break , & after I smoke .
bruh its in your interest washing your hands its self evident that you need to wash your hands, you do that without a worker telling you its just basic human thinking

The bathroom is the last place anyone wants to clean and if it's spotless and smelling fresh, the kitchen is probably clean too. Of course this is no guarantee but it's sure gives me hope. If there is no public bathroom, then look at the apron of the cook. Does it look like 10 days of junk dried on it or does it just have some smudges? What about the floor and counter tops? Anyone using gloves and my biggest issue, is the cashier also handling food? Just takes some common sense when choosing where to eat.

As a fellow Filipino (like the owner), I am quite embarrassed but you know in those times Filipino immigrants struggled to find a living and here in the Philippines we have certain principles on our mindset regarding financial survivability so I think she didn’t really have a choice at that time to do what she did. When we eat the food we just hope and assume it was handled with care and following the procedures . You’re always gonna have people with the mindset of “I don’t care” or “I don’t think it’s nasty so it’s fine” when it’s actually unethical and absolutely disgusting!!!!
