- One UI is a software overlay developed by Samsung Electronics for its Android devices running Android 9 “Pie” and higher and Windows devices running Windows 11 and higher. Succeeding Samsung Experience and TouchWiz, it is designed to make using larger smartphones easier and become more visually appealing. To provide more clarity, some elements of the UI are tweaked to match the colors that are based on the color of the user's phone. It was announced at Samsung's developer conference in 2018, and was unveiled in Galaxy Unpacked in February 2019 alongside the Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Fold. It is also the software layer for their smartwatch Tizen and Wear OS platform, which Samsung co-developed with Google. Then Samsung released One UI 2 in 2019, the second generation update to One UI (powered by Android 10), provides Galaxy users with a skinned Digital Wellbeing experience, a more refined UI in some default apps such as Device Care, a minor UI change to the clock position in quick settings, a native screen recorder, the new Android 10 gesture system, Dynamic Lock Screen (different wallpaper with every unlock), a Trash folder in Files, native Android Auto, and harder Location permission access. One UI 2.0 has already rolled out to Galaxy S10, Note 10, Galaxy S9, and Note 9 on 3 December 2019. After that, One UI 3.0, based on Android 11, was released for Galaxy S20 devices beginning on 2 December 2020. The update includes a few noteworthy revisions, such as a translucent notification panel, brief notifications, new volume controls positioned on the right or left of the device alongside the physical volume keys, slightly enhanced widgets, and smoother animations and transitions throughout the whole UI. One UI 4, based on Android 12, is the fourth generation of One UI. It was released to the Galaxy S21 Series on 15 November 2021. One UI 4 focuses on customization, privacy, and access to Samsung's expanding ecosystem. One UI 4.1, a minor update for One UI 4.0, was first released with the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. It brought minor changes, however it did introduce features like Smart Calendar, added option to choose how much virtual RAM is desired (from 2, 4, 6 or 8 GB), redesigned palette picker, Smart Widgets, separate Left/Right audio balance, extra brightness toggle, Pro Mode on more cameras, Night Mode portraits, and other minor changes. One UI 5.0, announced on 12 October 2022, based on Android 13, is the fifth-generation version of One UI. It is released publicly on 24 October 2022 for Samsung's Samsung Galaxy S22 series along with several other models, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, with the update coming to older models later.
Some features and changes include the ability to turn off the RAM Plus feature, where previously users could only limit it to 2GB rather than turning it off entirely, and a redesigned way of customizing the lock screen, similar to iOS 16. Material You was also expanded to most of Google and Samsung Apps along with some third-party apps that support material you, allowing more ways to customize One UI. One UI 5 also brings refreshed icons for a more-refined look across the UI

Honestly,in the past 5 years,the look of one ui barely changed except the lockscreen.Other that that the icons are mostly the same(except the messages)

Honestly I feel like one UI 3 was the biggest useful changes what they've done to one UI 6 with the way notifications are set up and the new quick panel looks clumsy in my opinion, I like it when notifications from the same app where stacked in the same bar
True. I hate myself for updating my phone, updating one ui 4 was a bad idea, especislly 5.1 which didn't let me rollback anymore

Imo the One UI 3 & 4 trailers felt the least clean bc of the voiceover, there's just smth in my head that accepts seamless transitions and captions as way better than the same video with a voiceover. The One UI 5 trailer was looking goofy ahh but fixed up. One UI 2 trailer was best imo

The question is why the SAMSUNG One IU doesn't create an application lock feature via settings, it's very important for our security and privacy. If, for example, someone opens their cellphone lock screen and then wants to brainstorm something to do with their cellphone, they end up dropping it and don't know what to do. But cellphones from other brands have an application lock feature via settings please SAMSUNG make this feature soon we really need it 😢

True, Secure folder is complex but we need both features cause Secure folder for a seperate user for some special Uses & AppLock for Normal use.

Literally been using Samsung since touchwiz and having the original note! Samsung has always been pushing the innovative button making each software update more convenient and useful! That is why I will always buy Samsung products except for there fridges, those suck ass hehe

This was the best decision Samsung made. Glad they abandoned TouchWiz and made One UI. The UI is so good that even google applied some of it on android.
TouchWiz was good too. I have my old tablet from 2015 and it still has TouchWiz. Too bad said tablet doesn't work anymore and need to have a it's battery replaced. :(
@@NinoDesbordes256 Nah, man. TouchWiz felt too clunky and slow. That's why people said Samsung phones were slow during those times. I had the Galaxy Note 4, and TouchWiz was sh*t. Going from that to the Note 8 was nothing short of a big relief.

One UI 1 and 2 only have background music, and the video is quiet and simple as a whole. It does not have a voice, and it introduces the things that have been changed by focusing as much as possible. It explains the points developed with care or the reason why change is necessary with a simple and smooth graphic, and it is the highest quality of all One UI introductions. I like it the most.
One UI 3 and 4 have a noisy video. They are not calm and seem to be making it to appeal to young people. I don't like it.
One UI5 looks like a video made for children. There is no introduction to the development vision, opportunities for change, usability and pursuit of it, but too much focus is on design and visuals for young people. I don't like it.
That's why there's iOS.

A Samsung tem um grande potencial para criar sistemas operacionais a altura do macOS e do iOS/ipadOS/tvOS/watchOS tranquilamente, com seu próprio kernel e tudo mais, porem, devido a compatibilidades de aplicativos e programas, infelizmente terá que viver sob a asa da Google e Microsoft por muito tempo ainda... mas seria interessante se o ecossistema fosse completo de fato, algo que a MS tentou no passado, mas fracassou....
