Quantum Channel and Eurosport continuity - Wednesday 21st December 1994 *RECAPTURED*

Anyways an example of The Quantum Channel (a channel for teleshopping) closing down with continuity from the first hour or so of Eurosport including it's startup starting off with some aerobics and then Skiing.

why was there a white noise between Quantum and Eurosport transmissions?

I believe they had to disconnect the plug from the Quantum feed and connect it to the Eurosport feed hence a few seconds of white noise.
I know other channels just had to flick the switch (especially between TV-AM and ITV or even between TCC and Challenge TV (which if you were lucky, you'll see some of TV Travel Shop before it started).
Not sure if this is just an european thing or not but that's all I can say.

@@DanielMullins-c4s1 Nope. All ITV transmitters were owned by a government authority known as the IBA during TV-am years. Master feeds of ITV's 14 regional networks and TV-am were passed to IBA facilities and they were the ones who flip the switch between the breakfast program and regional networks at 6:00 am and before 9:30 am. No transmitter shut downs during handovers; instead the video inputs carrying the networs' master feeds to the transmitters were just changed, and these were in analog format that's why you see some gltch. Meanwhile here Quantum and Eurosport had their own transmitters. And bonus info: Quantum was also broadcast in other countries as TV shopping blocks, such as ABS-CBN in the Philippines during the 1990s.
