Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most… he DIDN’T vanish? Wait. Something seems wrong here…

I feel like Aang would have mastered Earth Bending faster if he started with sand bending first and then went on to regular earth bending. Sand is more of a semi solid like snow/ice and might relate to water bending. Who knows, he might feel each grain of sand individually, and that could lead to feeling the impurities in metal and Kickstart metal bending.

  • @Aynshtaynn
    @Aynshtaynn Před 2 lety +214

If Aang managed to flee from the genocide, he would most likely end up in Southern Water Tribe, rather than Northern one. To be fair, him ending up in the North is less likely than passing over the Fire Nation. He would have a while to train waterbending there as Fire Nation raids against Water Tribes didn't start until at least 15 AG in "our" timeline. But as Sozin knew Aang was alive, Fire Nation would attack sooner. Southern Tribe had waterbenders and the Comet had passed so it wouldn't be immediately though.

My divergence would have been Aang simply not hearing the nomads talk about taking him away so he was just asleep with no worry when Gyatso came to him. I feel like Gyatso was about to take him away entirely. Not sure where he was planning on going though, but I don't think he would be there for the invasion and thus wouldn't die. They'd be on the run together. They'd feel shame about leaving especially after they hear about the genocide, but they'd secretly find bending teachers with the goal of restoring balance. The rest after that I agree with on the video. Almost forgot about Kuzon and Bumi, but the I was thinking the sages would help with fire as well.

What piques my interest is the effect this would have on the events of Legend of Korra:
Season 1 - Hama wouldn't be captured and invent bloodbending, so nobody develops Amon's bloodbending technique to seal bending (for now).
Season 2 - It's canon that Aang died early because his iceberg "incident" took a toll on his body. Without this, Aang would likely be the Avatar incarnation during Harmonic Convergence. However, as a wise and fully-realized Avatar, he wouldn't be manipulated into opening the portals and Harmonic Convergence wouldn't occur this time.
Season 3- The White Lotus may stay in hiding and maintain their role as secretive mentors to the Avatar. As such, Xai Bau never forms the Red Lotus to assassinate the Avatar and world leaders.
Season 4 - Without the disruption to the Earth Kingdom royal family's rule (at the hands of the Red Lotus), the Earth Empire would never form and the nation would simply continue as a monarchy.
Edit: Since the spirit portals would likely remain closed, even after Harmonic Convergence, humans and spirits would live separated and no human would be able to harvest spirit vines as a power source.

If aang had lived a normal lifetime, that water tribe princess who turned into the moon spirit should have been the next avatar. Looking at the timeline, another avatar would provably have been born before the jarmonic convergence, so an earthbender.

Aang collapses, having bought enough time for a mass evacuation of the temple. Gyatso and the other elders stayed near Aang to protect him and now quickly pick him up and flee the battle scence. The fire nation has no way to pursue airbison so they commit their usual genocide on everyone left.
The remnants of a once great airbending civilisation knows that safety is urgently needed and set course for Ba Singh See, the city that could not be breached. They sent out delegates on bison to bring waterbenders and firebenders to the capital to ensure Aang could get the proper training. Enraged by the genocide of their people, the airnomads helped the earth kingdom to defend themselves. Firenation armies and fleets were decimated or detered by giant hurricanes.

Yes, that’s why Fire Nation soldiers went to the Southern Water Tribe to take all of their benders. They were guessing that the airbender avatar (Aang) had died at some point and were looking for the water tribe one now. (My favorite idea is it would have been Katara) They also attacked the Northern Water Tribe. Then they went for the Earth Kingdom, as after water the next Avatar would be earth. The Fire Nation’s attacks were in sync with the Avatar cycle. Air Temples, Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom. Then the next one would have been fire, who would grow up in the Fire Nation and probably be brainwashed like the schoolkids to think they were on the side of good.

The biggest problem I have with Roku saying that even the Avatar wouldn't be able to restore balance if the Fire Nation harnessed the power of Sozin's Comet is that the Avatar is a Firebender. Thusly they could harness the power of the comet as well. Back up the power of 1000 Suns with the power of the Avatar Spirit and you have a literal mortal God absolutely destroying the Fire Nation. They'd have absolutely no chance to fight back. Not even Iroh would be able to stand up to an Avatar empowered by two different sources. Interesting idea, but what kind of Katara are we talking?
what is "reincarnation" if everone can just be one?
The show oprates under the logic that Roku and Aang shares personality traits.
Why else would "what toys you picked" be a factor in finding the avatar.
It would also be a good reason why a "evil avatar" would not exist as it is the same person reborn over and over, meaning the same insured outcome of personality... more or less.
All in all, Katara can not be the the avatar, she is not Aang.
Someone named Katara looking like her could be, but that would not be Katara still.
That would be Aang reborn in that body.

In one of the old Avatar comics, Zhao captured Aang using Air Nomad trinkets, which he explained to him was a trick Sozin used to lure any surviving airbenders for extermination. I imagine in this timeline. Once Sozin learns that the avatar had survived his massacre. He would have still hunted any surviving Air Nomads, but this time instead of executing them all, kept them as hostages. Once he has managed to capture enough of them, he would send a message to the North Pole, telling Aang that he has the remaining Air Nomads as his prisoner and will exchange their lives for him. Knowing Aang, he would likely leave the North Pole, thus prematurely ending his waterbending training to rescue what remains of his people.

I always figured that when Gyatso said "I'm not going to let them take you away from me" he was planning to run away with Aang that night.
Aside from that though I pretty much agree with everything else. Bumi makes perfect sense to be Aangs earth bending teacher and Kuzon would teach him fire, or at least what he could. I hadn't considered the fire sages though and that's a great explanation for Aang learning to control the Avatar State and mastering fire.
But I always thought he would travel to the Southern Tribe as opposed to the Northern Water Tribe since it's closer to the Southern Air Temple and he'd possibly train with an ancestor of Katara or maybe even Hama.

Aang was a great Avatar because of the great friends he met along the way and the journey they made together.
If he did not disappear, had never met his future wife, Katara, and had never made lasting friendships with Sokka and the rest of the BoomerGang - he would not had been the wisest nor the greatest.
The Air nomads would had sacrificed their lives to protect the young Avatar and would undoubtedly still be wiped out. Only this time, Aang would have suffered from PTSD and depression from witnessing the tragedy.
He would had fled from the invasion and still had to learn to master the elements. He would have become bitter and full of hatred for the Fire Nation and will most likely end up killing his enemies to restore balance to the universe. His decisions would had not been so rational and his vision would be so limited.
So, IF Aang did not vanish, he would not have reached his full potential and he would be a broken soul.
It wasv Divine Providence that Aang fell asleep and was awoken 100 years later.

Somehow he time travels to the point that he was in his bed 100 years ago thinking of running away. He has full memory of katara sokka and the rest and from that point on all he ends up doing is trying to go back. He eventually comes across bumi who is the only one that is crazy enough to believe him and he has an idea. "why don't you stay?, you could defeat sozin and prevent the 100 year war". Aang hates that thought. He wont see katara and the rest again but he is the avatar after all. His duty is to save the world. Depending on if this cannon or not sang decides to stay or leave.

  • @josepharchuleta9809
    @josepharchuleta9809 Před 2 měsíci +1

I know this is to late for anyone to see but i just got to say it.
I say he probably would have gone to omashoo first and picked Bumi up as a companion. then gon to the southern water tribe “which still had masters” and learned their. Then he would of probably helped defend against fire nation attacks and then fled to lour their attention away. And then went to the heart of the earth kingdoms until he mastered earth; probably not from Bumi since they certainly already had a master lined up, but he would have been a senior student. And probably kept the DiLee from getting out of hand by just being there. After mastering earth he then starts learning fire. Now i think there are 5 possibilities for a master: 1 the fire sages from 🌙 island, 2 someone from the sun temple, 3 a master that doesn’t agree with the war and fled from the fire nation and was recruited as Aang’s master, or a fire bender that was visiting the vast earth kingdoms and couldn’t come back and now faces the dounting task of training the Avatar well enough to match the best fire benders in the world, 5 the dragons. But still i think that he would have remained in the earth kingdom far from the front lines except for vary special circumstances; he is the Avatar and the best hope for bringing in end to the war.
Finally the counter offensive is ready. Under the banner of the Avatar a joint army from the water tribes earth kingdoms and rebel fire benders start disrupting supply lines. Unlike after a hundred years- the fire nation would not be as intrenched, making seizing back the western lands more likely instead of a all or nothing invasion fleet. And water tribes would begin aggressive maritime campaigns; perhaps capturing stream engines and developing them.
Now ther is still a big advantage for the fire nation, they still have dragons to ride. A force of elite dragon trainers being spread out to hunt the mobile water tribe ships and the flying bison.
But eventually fire nation archipelago would be invaded.
And this takes place on a scale of years not a maner of months.
Fire Lord Sozin would at last face this young but fully trained Avatar. Aang my stick to his inhibitions and not kill him, or take out the direct cause of his loved ones deaths. If it’s the former Sozin is not as much a threat as Ozi.
Aang stays in the fire nation to rearrange it, being closely guided by Roku and other fire avatars. Maybe Azul is removd from the line of succession
Finally Aang tries to salvage and preserve air nomad culture and he is joined by none air benders that had nomad and monk parents and family.

The monks would make it a priority to escort Aang out of danger. Considering he was being send to the Western Air temple, there would be a few female airbenders with him, so we solve the reproduction problem. So Aang would most likely be trained by the white Lotus, most likely Yangchen would tell him about them considering the circumstances. He won't have a problem finding a waterbending and earth bending master. A fire bending master might be difficult, but I can see the white lotus just training him or a fire sage who probably weren't corrupted back then yet. Regardless, Sozin would be defeated or killed. Maybe if aang meets the lion turtle he would get energy bending.

History was the teacher, none could oppose to the avatar at that time, they have not enough knowledge or technology. The reason why Korra had to face enemies was because of recent technology changed the game of power. Before Aang most avatar duties was to balance the human and the spirit world.
