  • In a career spanning thirty-five years, Colin Prior photographs capture sublime moments of light and land, which are the result of meticulous planning and preparation and often take years to achieve. Prior is a photographer who seeks out patterns in the landscape and the hidden links between reality and the imagination. He has produced seven books that include, The World’s Wild Places and Living Tribes, which were published internationally and is working on a long-term assignment in Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains.
Colin Prior is known worldwide for his panoramic images of the majestic mountains of Scotland. Joe Cornish will talk to Colin about the experiences making these images and about the other projects that have captivated him since.

Joe is bang on what a stunning way to end. You must be rightly proud of your daughter Colin a chip off the old block. Great talk, I can only regret not seeing it live. Great images throughout.

So much fun to listen to the two masters. Thank you very much for sharing! I like that „old school“- attitude very much. My highlight: The photo will tell you „Keep me!“ - you don‘t have to ask yourself…

He is right, get it right in the camera. I don't like zooms at all, primes do produce a better image.

I've just seen this guy interviewed on an Amazon series called 'Gone Shootin' and in my view he chatted absolute bollocks. He actually said it's not the gear you've got that counts but who's taking the picture. While that of course that is true it's also a truism and pretty valueless. He seemed to have a complete lack of interest in his kit and appeared to believe any old lens would do, making no distinction between primes with zooms. Truly weird. That is all fine at the most basic level of photography but when you're talking to anyone with any experience at all, the quality of the end result is hugely dependent on....mainly the lens you're using. Those that question the expense of some of the world's best lenses should really take a look at a few of the great images and investigate the lens behind the image. And then they'll understand the value of a great lens. The camera and sensor come a very low second compared to the importance of the lens. Anyway, if his 'Gone Shootin' interview is representative of his general philosophy I certainly wouldn't even consider paying any money at all for his advice.
