The Listeners by Walter de la Mare Explanation of Poem

This poem contains an element of mystery. It narrates the story of a traveler who arrives at the doorstep of a solitary house in the middle of the woods. It is night time. He knocks on the door several times and gets no response. Nobody opens the door for him. The traveler feels the presence of some ghostly elements in the house. He talks to them and then goes back.
