the opportunity to see how one of the most profound, interesting and unique musicians works is a great honor. thnx
100% this.
Not too long ago Seth tweeted about the tones you hear inside a plane before lifting off the runway and how nice they sound being ever so slightly detuned from the drone of the engine. Next time flying, if you listen closely you can sometimes hear the various drones of the engine drifting in and out of phase similar to his demonstration here. It's so dreamy.
MATRiXXMAN OTAKU makes me often fall asleep
I'll stick to synths.
No untimely death involved :-)
*one year later* What is this “plane” of which you speak? :)
It's like sound of the come up on DMT too.
This needs to be a series. I would watch videos like this forever.
This guy is a legend. By far my most favourite producer. Would be great to hear him live one day.
Beautiful to hear those subtleties that we often ignore. This already starts to sound like an Rrose track
This is the kind of instructional video that actually help, not like the How to "insert genre here" videos
I had the pleasure of being one of his students for a term and i wish it was longer than that
wish the video was longer tbh
@devontodetroit goldsmiths london
@@nwere seriously man?! 😯
@@nwere He was teaching at goldsmiths? wow wtf
When you deliver interesting videos like these makes me with they were a solid hour instead of 10 mins.
Incredible artist. Absolute dedication to pushing techno into the future.
Probably the most epic production video I've ever seen.
Love Rrose! Shepherd's Brine is one of my fav techno tracks of all time.
I've been in 1 Solo Gong and 3 of his parties, never felt this special connection with another artist where you feel sad, angry, happy and euphoric, is something about his persona and the way he creates music, damn, I truly respect you.
The sounds you can get out of such simple methods are amazing.
Thanks Resident Advisor for that amazing documental piece with Rrose!
I have been waiting years for this
Love the wig just chillin on top of the monitor
Phenomenal producer with an even more phenomenal approach to production.
synchronicity. This is what I was thinking about this morning. What is techno, really? A lot of people don't understand. the complexity in simplicity.
nah thats minimal. techno can be anything really.
totally agreed.
Techa's, he Real stuff,
Would make deaf composers bite their lips...Piano, Sub! ;)
"A Lot of people don't understand the complexity in simplicity"
That's all about techno !!!
Thank you. Your music is brilliant, and this helps to understand a bit more the hypnotic around your live p.a, for instance. Still remember crowd @ Paral.lel Festival last year asking to be quiet not to miss anything from your live performance. So special. Thanks again.
Great. Need more stuff from Rrose. Love it so much
Psychoacoustics changed the way I see music production. As a techno DJ or with production, I'm limited to nothing.🌛
Buchla modules placed on packaging foil... very special :)
Karel Hack yes I got kinda sick seeing that. Where’s the case for that music easel? Extra points for knowledge of M4L and that Lyra 8 on the desk (get one if u don’t already.. trust me..
Some random dude on FaceTube)
Get Mike Parker for the next video please!
Agree!
Yes!
Indeed, he is also one of a rare artist in techno productions!
This is good for Soundtoys' sales.
they deserve it
You free to use ANY other self-resonant filter.... :)
danielrast Yup, tried it with the ableton echo delay filter with noise turned on, works pretty nicely.
rightly so, Tremolator is one of the best plugins I own imo. Amazing distortion from pushing the input
how can anyone dislike this, this is pure genius !
ive smiled the whole thing
please say there are more coming? this was great!
3:33 Every arthouse horror movie soundtrack ever
lol It Follows
I need a couple more hours of this.
Wow I honestly didn’t recognize him without the wig/make-up. Great vid!
exactly, was looking for this comment
Thank you so much for this interview!!
I hit like even before starting the video just because the title has Rrose in it.
I'd like the same kind of video with Mike Parker! Anyway, brilliant.
Good job RA. Thank You Rrose!
HOly shit! Excellent vid RA! Always wanted to see behind the curtain of Rrose awesome production!
This is refreshingly interesting.
Indeed!
my heart soars
I love this. Rrose is awesome
Beautiful. This is just the sort of synthesis tutorial I was looking for but had no idea how to begin to Google it. Thank you Rrose. You're an inspiration.
Yes this is the basis of synthesis. Great explanation!
Truly inspiring.
Stunning. The best.
More of these please.
That was so inspirational! thank you.
This is awesome. Wow. Great vid.
I call him - her a real artist! Thank you.
Great content, even filterfreak auto-oscillating was good. We want more Rrose!
amazing sound really minimalistic and unique
That was very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
This is amazing. Anyone know if he's done other similar videos?
awesome sound design
So much Inspiration in 10 minutes 👌
We want more!
Incredibly interesting and inspiring
5:44 The noise helps the filter to self-oscillate, but the added harmonics are not because of noise, but because of the nonlinearity of the (modeled) circuit that saturates.
(BTW thanks for the video and good ideas, Rrose!)
cool.
glad I was wearing my tinfoil head to protect myself from those 440hz waves!
only thing that saved you from becoming a nazi instantly!!
432Hz is even worse.
Ten minutes of that and you become ultra gullible.
Fact!
Wow. he made a track from no audio or midi content, just filters, thats so cool!!
That was very cool!
Thinking outside of the box approach, nice
its great to see this
love how he just has the buchla chilling there without any of the plastic just the electronics lol i would spill water all over that in the first 5 minutes
Solid content!
Fantastic
Great inspiration
What a a g. Thank you 🙏
Thanks, I liked it.
this is a next level mind
Fundamental.
Now, where's the part 02-99?
oro puro!
GENIUS!
her MIND!!!!
This man is a master want to see more of him, really liked the video!
Well that just woke the neighbours up. Haha. Basic synthesis..beautiful!
Thx!!!!
Rrose the best!
Pure gold
That was profound!
I also really like the wig on the mannequin‘s head on top of the speaker! 🖖🏻💚
Rrose is the female alter ego of Seth Horvitz, she wears the wig during live performances :)
Yes
Thumbs up for Rrose!
So satisfying
Damn.. That's deep.
lovely
Brilliant
Impressive !
it there a way to record in Ableton while the transport is stoped? or you should use some 3rd party software to record the audio
Make a different audio track, single the new and the audio track feeding back. Change the new audio track's sound source to 'Resampling' and hit record
Awesome
THANK YOU... mastermind
Well I didn't understand any of that but I do have Rrose's album
🙇🏾♂️🙏🏾🤍
Is the first example really psychoacoustics ? If i see correctly on screen, both sines are output on the same channel, so the "new" oscillation we hear is a result of phase cancellation, thats physics. If they were on two separate channels, left and right, then our brain would "make up" the oscillation, that's psychoacoustics. Correct me if i'm wrong.
could the project file of the final demo be shared? :)
this is so cool 🙃
Hell yeah I love rrose 😎
Just wow
wow that's clever stuff
What basic ableton filter you can use insted?
genius !!
The master speaks
How do you record stuff inside Ableton when the transport is stopped? Is sound flower the only way? Or could you stop the arrangement whilst recording in session?
Somatic Jet u can’t stop one without the other. Bet he’s using Max MSP or an external recorder. Funny thing is there have been so many times I wanted to grab a sound that showed up as a result of a stopped transport... and didn’t think of how.. until now.
Thanks mate
@@geraldgoodiii6993 yo if you make a max for live patch for capturing audio when the transport is stopped I beg you send me that.
Somatic Jet me too please, always wanted something like that
@@somaticjet2717 Install Reaper, and make sure to install the ReaRoute ASIO driver when you do so. Open both Reaper and Ableton. Set Ableton's audio output to the ReaRoute ASIO driver--then make a track in Reaper, set the input to ReaRoute 1-2 (or whatever channels your Ableton I/O is outputting to), then monitor your session from within Reaper and press record when you make a cool sound. You can even record yourself flicking through raw samples in the hotswap menu to make some weird rhythms. No D/A/D conversion involved, works on Mac or PC.
