One thing that always gets me is whenever officers act like this, a common refrain is that they just need “more training.” Nonsense. No amount of training will fix that combination of a bad attitude and unaccountability.

Officer Paul Tibbitts was suspended for three days without pay and was required to take remedial training, Officer Christopher Dennis was required to take counseling and remedial training, and Sgt. John Dickinson received a written reprimand and was ordered to undergo training on how to operate his body camera." It seems it ended pretty well for the auditor!
Another reason why ALL police bodycams should be running the WHOLE shift and NO mute button. My memory card on my dashcam can run for 20+ hours without resetting, so there is no excuse why they can not keep theirs running their whole shift, even when they are taking a dump, they should be running the WHOLE DAMN SHIFT!
Iirc this department doesn't have body cameras EDIT: after doing some more research, I have found out that the Danbury PD appears to have acquired 115 body cams as of 12 JAN 2021. They do not appear to have gotten all of the cameras needed to comply with CT law. They have until 01 JUL 2022 to be within compliance. As a former police officer in a large city & Federal officer for over 22 years combined. I want to thank you for all that you do. This accountability is long overdue.
The problem with some places is that good officers can't be good because of the trash officers that desire the power of the badge. Finally with body cams it's forcing officers to be the kind of example that was always ment to be. Then their is these moments they slip up hard being caugh for the style of bullying they must have been like in High school. Now with a badge and gun. These kinds of officers depict a huge problem. Some are childish, arrogant, power hungry, and looking for a problem to enjoy harming others the way they always wanted to. Also I was a security guard. I was feeling the corruption in that as well. The protect and serve isn't what seems to be true. Now with body cameras some are scared their unlawful behavior or bullying style is going to be caught.

20 years ago I was in boxers, unarmed, on my cell phone to my attorney (I had not been charged, but had heard cops were looking for me, so I obtained legal counsel). I had heard them arrive, I called my lawyer, they kicked in the door, and I was then tackled by a detective. I did not resist, and was immediately handcuffed face down on the floor. Then the real fun began. My cuffed arms were lifted away from my back as far as he could, and then started pummeling the back of my head with his fists, to the point that both my scalp, and his knuckles were lacerated and bloody. So I'm 19 years old at the time, and while handcuffed face I down got the $h*t beat out of me. Then in the middle of summer in Florida I was left cuffed for hours in an unmarked detectives car with only the rear window cracked and no A/C. I literally thought I might die. Well I guess because I was calling my lawyer they slapped me with resisting arrest WITHOUT VIOLENCE. Well fast forward a little bit and my charge was upgraded!! To: Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. So, the back of my skull assaulted that poor detective's knuckles. Couldn't make that up if I tried. Many police absolutely believe themselves to be above the law they swore to uphold. It is sad. And not all are bad. Oh I almost forgot to mention, I'm no miscreant, just a regular white kid at the time, and my dad was actually working for Fire Rescue, but at another Counties Sheriff's Office at the time. So I guess I don't have that much privilege either... Either way I was beaten and then left in a hot car. You'd go to jail for doing that to an animal, so essentially I was treated inhumanely, and with less dignity than is even provided unto a dog.

I liked ZZ's because the crappy tobacco I could afford tasted better without the flavor of burnt paper in it... one cops was frantically shredding my backpack and everything in it, repeating over and over in a panicked manner, HE HAS ZIGZAGS, HE MUST HAVE POT! Over and over until everyone in the laundromat surrounded us, at which point one of the cops woke up to the spectacle they were presenting to the fellow Missourians... and literally had to PULL THAT NUT CASE OFF MY BACKPACK... EDIT: after doing some more research, I have found out that the Danbury PD appears to have acquired 115 body cams as of 12 JAN 2021. They do not appear to have gotten all of the cameras needed to comply with CT law. They have until 01 JUL 2022 to be within compliance. I advocate cams that are on entire shifts, recording to a cloud that cannot be deleted or edited. This needs to be a federal law that enforces no more than ten days for a FOIA request release. As it is now depts are withholding and editing dash and body cam videos. They also should not be able to be muted. If police don't like it get a job as a rent a cop, or Walmart.

It is really beyond me that apparently NO cop in America respects the constitutional law it's supposed to uphold. They all just trample it while cheering in choir that they are there to serve and protect those under the constitution. Baffling.
I've seen THOUSANDS of police interaction videos over the years and THIS one is simply astonishing from start to finish... Every officer behaved so childishly... Like a bunch of toddler bullies on the playground! Just... WOW! 🤦♀️
Body language is everything... people don't realize how much they wear their emotions and feelings on the outside.

That's Officer. Officer Tibbits.

He wasn’t scaring anyone with that name😂little dwarf tibbits
tibbits is just asking to catch a .308
i want this on a t shirt hahaha
Guys, my only question is.. how is possible for civilians to get access to cops body cam footage to be posted?? Genuinely curious how that works...
Inquire about the case number for the incident.
File a public records request for the documentation you want.
You will usually need to pay a fee to get those records, I'm not sure how much.
Some states do not have laws in place that obligate them to provide bodycam or dashcam footage so be aware of whether that is the case or not.
0:26 lower your voice you're in the library 😂 love this guy
It's videos like this, that make me wonder, how many innocent people have been beaten, jailed, hospitalized, and even killed! It's an us against them mentality. The whole system needs to be changed from the top down and officers need to be held accountable for their bad behavoir!
Highest rate of incarceration per capita... Must just be a nation of criminals, I guess.

Here in Canada - and I'm sure in most common law countries - you don't have to provide identification unless you're operating a motor vehicle. They can finger-print you and that's about it
The response “I don’t care”
When he mentioned his activity was lawful and constitutionally protected told me all I needed to know about how this would turn out
they are ignorant punks.
💯💯💯
"I don't care" the exact same response I hear when a cop has been shot.
Cops are uneducated, power hungry, aggressive, lying, piles of human garbage. Their incessant need to impose their authority combined with their extremely fragile egos has detrimental effects on the citizens and the public trust. You literally start out or eventually become a sociopath if you’re in law enforcement. It’s mind boggling how police officers are truly ignorant to the actual law and qualified immunity has enabled them to not give a sh!t about the law as they violate people’s rights and they know they will never get in trouble for their criminal actions. Basically all cops have permanent get out of jail free cards while they simultaneously try to illegally throw people in jail. If you’re a cop reading this🖕🖕🖕. Everyone else, please be safe, record the criminal cops, peace and love❤️

Whether he has or hasn’t, making a joke about killing someone who simply wont let their rights be violated, is completely wrong and it shows how he lets his emotions take over. He should not be police
But I bet you his higher ups respect him, they want someone like him, someone that perfectly represents the entire idea of American policing. A good cop sadly isn't the rule, it's the exception.
He had such venom in voice and was alone with the other angry officer, I just didn't think there was any joke or infrequent manner about the thought he expressed. It just seemed so authentic, genuinely scary.
That was no joke bud, he was dead serious
Agreed. Unfortunately most police shouldn't be police.
