- Promising to be one of the most ambitious projects in metal history, BLIND GUARDIAN's upcoming release will be well worth the wait.
The idea of recording an orchestral album originally formed in the minds of the two leading lights of the
BLIND GUARDIAN universe - guitarist André Olbrich and singer Hansi Kürsch - during the 1990's when
BLIND GUARDIAN started to use orchestral elements to enhance their opulent sound. The monumental project started to take shape over recent years, and mirroring its epic sound cascades, the lyrical concept was developed. To create the concept, André and Hansi worked alongside German bestselling author Markus Heitz, whose latest novel »Die dunklen Lande« was released on March 1st, 2019. The book is set in 1629 and contains the prequel to BLIND GUARDIAN TWILIGHT ORCHESTRA's opus
»Legacy Of The Dark Lands,« which will be out on November 8th, 2019.
Today the band unleash their 7" vinyl single titled »This Storm«, which can be ordered in various colours (clear, gold, red/black splattered) here:

I will forever be in awe of his voice...
Best part:
"Gather up, I'm the storm, I'll bind you
You'll be the flame, I'm the spark
My wayward friends, you must come and find me
In the dark"
Does your ambition know no limits? I SURE HOPE IT DOES! Who needs guitars anyway? Music is beyond any particular instrument. Behold, men! Behold and feel chills!
"When a voice in sorrow sang", I was immediately hooked!! For a first listen, I think this one is maybe even better than Point of no Return which was incredible after few spins. Define the word EPIC -----BLIND GUARDIAN
“Behold the queen and the prince of the north” that part gives me goosebumps, so amazing this is going to be a AMAZING album
Yeah, but the second time when the orchestra kicks in. That's epic!
Can't wait for the album.
It would be about time for a "Nightfall In Middle Earth part 2"...
I know I'm selfish in thinking that, and that artists should not be forever linked to one opera they did... but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it would be amazing to have a follow up of Nightfall in Middle Earth in this style. xD
YES, there is plenty of stuff in the Silmarillion they didn't explore in Nightfall; I would adore a song about Maglor and Maedhros, at the end.
@@StarlitSeafoam Maybe a Album that imagines the exploits of the War of Wrath.
What a time to be alive!
Is strange to listen it without guitars and powerful drums but... THIS STOOOOORM WILL CHANGE IT AAAAAALL
This actually feels more natural than ever to me.
@@FrankTheDoomriderJohansen but will the whole album be played like an orchestral metal? or just a few songs?
@James Mulder The entire album is orchestral, not orchestral metal. They've been saying they want to do this for years.
@@OmegaShadeslayer what a shame. So BG is gone for me. Their last album was great, really metal and darkness. But i was expecting at least some metal songs on it.
@James Mulder That's a retarted way to look at it. They've said they were going to do a completely symphonic album for years.
Now after I had the opportunity to listen to the entire album I can say I am truly moved by it. It is a masterpiece. I was a little skeptical at first since "Beyond the red mirror" left me somewhat incomplete. It felt slow paced and I was craving for something to push it a bit. Maybe it was composed with the orchestra in mind and was only a step towards Legacy. I am astounded by the new album. It is an instant classic and should be played in all major concert halls worldwide. I haven't listened to such exquisite composition and orchestration since John Williams. Blind Guardian are among the very few true composers of our time and I am grateful they are happening in my lifetime.
The two songs they released so far are really good. I guess I just thought when I heard "Orchestra", that it would complement the band, not substitute it....
But I still can't wait to hear the entire album
Stephanie Wetzel See, when they re-recorded And Then There Was Silence “with orchestra”, I expected and wanted something at least CLOSER to this, so I’m glad that this is what it is.
Nah, this is a GREAT diversity and legacy for the band. + next year we're getting a metal album from them anyways.
I thought the same as you but im starting to wonder if these are preproduction recordings, like they did on 'At the edge of time' album. Maybe they will add the band later after they finish recording all the orchestral and vocal parts... fingers crossed lol
@@jessejames5081 I doubt it, BUT.. I wouldn't say no to an alternate release with the whole band added, then having two versions of every track. But again, doubt it.
@@danjohansenmusic
Well in that case, I just don't get it. How is it Blind Guardian? One member of a band is not the band, it's never been that way. Seriously, why the hell would they even do that?
If it's just Hans and an orchestra then it is not Blind Guardian. If that was the case then demons and wizards Is Blind Guardian LOL
20 years in the waiting, Bards. We have arrived.
Pure ART!!! This album will be the best one EVER...
Can't believe this came out, thank you destiny for allowing me to be alive to appreciate this. Congrats for such talent guys!
Even though there isn't a single electronic/amplified/distorted instrument on this track or (potentially) the album, I'm still putting this on my "Metal" playlist as soon as I get it.
Hansi nails the interpretation here. Astonishing.
BEHOLD THE QUEEEN AND THE PRIIIINCE OF THE NOOORTH!
Just perfect.
Hes voice is sooo perfect for the choice of music
This is breathtaking! Hail Blind Guardian!
How can this be so beautiful?
Awesome!!! This album will be so unique. Thanks BG guys!!!
I've been waiting for this forever! And though I just LOVE the orchestra, I can't stop thinking how amazing this song would sound live, with the whole band freaking destroying with their instruments.
Wouldn't surprise me if within a few months of its release, fans will make their own versions adding guitars and drums to this.
I can't wait.
Yep because they fkn said "..one of the most ambitious projects in metal history..." and I hear no fkn metal here. Nothing, Nada, zero. What are they thinking?
I wont even listen to that. Fake BS versions is what that'll be.
I never heard anything like this in the metal universe... It's absolute massive... Metal without electric guitars but... Come close you eyes and open your ears you can heard them too....
This guy gets it!
I think that this may be my new favourite album
THIS IS ALL I EVER WANTED FROM AN ORCHESTRAL ALBUM
Blind Guardian are the best that is on every way
I knew about the release of the second song, but I wasn't ready for something so epic!
So beautiful!
This is so good, there's so much stuff going on, and it's genuinely different from what they normally do but still their style.
Gonna be AMAZING. Thank you for the best concert I've ever seen. Demons and Wizards in LA !!!!
MASTERPIECE!!! This album is going to be one of the greatest of all times!!!!!
Amazing
Love the passage with organ !
How amazing!
That last 40 seconds is incredible
Born to be legends. Will always be legends.
This warrior figure, kneeling with a sword, is damn epic
Amazing!!!
This is simply AMAZING.
Queen : a night at the opera is the best rock band / orchestra collaboration album
BG: Hold my lyre
Awesome!
These song cause me goosebumps al the way, you guys are awesome. Can't wait to hear the full album
This album is going to be incredible. Well worth the wait
So great. Even better than I could possibly imagined. I really hope it gets a foothold with the classical community. It is also deserving one of those pretentious NPR profiles
I waited 20 years for this. Well done.
Man, this is just epic, I simply can't wait for the full album to be released
Super, kocham!!!!
I still feel the 'Wheel of Time' was their greatest orchestral piece. I'm 100% on board for no guitars or drums, but I feel the orchestra isn't giving the driving rhythm it could be, to make up for the loss of power. The 2 songs they've released thus far, just don't seem to flow with powerful momentum - maybe in scattered pieces at moments, but nothing everlasting through a verse. Could be the lack of a monumental bridge in either song. Or at the very least the 'round' style layering, to build crescendo to the cadence. I don't know, Blind Guardian has spoiled us with glory for many years, I need more ;-;
They follow much more the flow of the story that the lyrics present. It is fantastic!
@@FrankTheDoomriderJohansen The lyrics certainly do - but the orchestra doesn't. For example, in 'And Then There Was Silence,' you have a multitude of movements in the song, each managing more monumental to the previous, building and building, - by the time you reach the 'bridge' of the song "The thread of life's been spun, the coin's been placed below my tongue." Holy hell the POWER of the orchestral and rhythm elements there are breathtaking. And then to top it off, he layers his voice to a choir that is just beyond epic. To do something of that magnitude - that long ago, without an orchestra, I had hoped for some of that here I guess
@@s.deltanis823 You might get that in one of the songs that represents a climax in the story ;) Just gotta wait for the full album and not expect to get everything in 2 songs :D
@@FrankTheDoomriderJohansen But (as a band) shouldn't I showcase like "the best I have to offer" to convince the audience?
I agree, I think Point of no Return has some amazing parts and I've been playing it on repeat but the flow is just really weird of the songs, there are no clear points and it feels a bit off sometimes
I can't f**king wait for this album! Seen the after a lifetime's dream back in 16', been following their endeavor's since their first postings on MP3.com back in the day....
AMAZING ♥️
Most definately looking forwards for the upcoming album!!
Замечательно. Мне нравится.
Insanely fresh track, and that chorus is unlike anything they've ever done before... And the diversity in the voice deliverance in the story telling is amazing.
The first listening, well...not sure, then a second listening, a third, a fourth...Hell Yeah! Love it! 🤘🏻😜💖
Bravíssimo! Hansi, the fourth tenor.
Hansi is not tenor, he is baritone with large range. Tenors are all other power metal vocalists with high voices.
@@MelissaHellcat i Know. Hansi show Your powerfulll voice. Hansi can sing in the Broadway. This strom is great song.
@@MelissaHellcat Fábio Lione is tenor.
Muito foda mesmo
Br
@@MelissaHellcat It’s questionable whether he’s a tenor or a baritone. I know he falls within the high baritone category, but that’s only due to the dark/graceful nature of his voice, with the cliche being that you’re only a tenor if you have a light/high voice. It’s a bit difficult to really say whether he’s one or the other, just as is the case with the likes of Roy Khan and Geoff Tate, or any other singer with darker voice but massive range.
This one gels more! Album will.be awesome
The art is seriously really cool
I am really excited!!!!
Spasibo...
I am impressed. It is atmospheric.
😭 tears of joy. 😭🔥 🤘 😎
This was better then point of no return. Well done!
Forsooth here privy bardzorro extraganzo. Adorn thy pointy hats and lutes and rejoice with much ale, song and busty fair maidens.
Awesome
Oh Mann , wie freu ich mich auf das Album!!!!! Und dann hoffentlich ne TOUR!!!!!
This piece gives me the mood of *A night at the opera* album. Beautiful!
I don’t know, I have the sensation that in some track Andre put some tactical electric guitar to make even more epic for the fans (I hope 🤩). Beautiful in every case, thank you BG 🙏🏼
You guys have a real talent for "epicness", I can only imagine how a fantasy tv series would feel like if Hansi and Andre were responsible for the soundtrack.
THIS STOOOOORM WILL CHAAANGE IT AAAAALLLL! BEHOLD THE QUEEN AND THE PRINCE OF THE NOOOOOORTH!
Another beautiful track! It's a sip of cold water amidst the thirst of having to wait for the album to come out!
Very beautiful ma friends
Just like the point of no return, you just have to listen a couple of times until it startes to make sense
Não é apenas música, é uma obra de arte!
Great
Wow! This song is amazing! If this only one song then I can't wait for the album.
They already put up "Point of no Return" on their CZcams channel as well.
@@callandor4704 Thanks man!😁
I would not say "This Storm" is better than "Point Of No Return". I more like "Point Of No Return", it is very melodic, quickly gets stuck in my head, it has very beautiful vocal part. However "This Storm" is also very fascinating, it is interesting to listen to it. I'm getting curious and I just want to hear complete story and know what Hansi is singing about so I can empathize this too.
Melhor banda melodica
brutal
BRAVO (second listening)
Awesome, also way better than the previous one!
Damn! That was badass! I like this song better than "Point of No Return". :)
I prefer the point of no return but this one is awesome too i can't wait for the album
Live album please!!
... when will we know the tourdates?
Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!
Now all I need is for Avantasia to show up and join in to this.
Ich weiß garnicht was ich sagen soll...! Wie gewohnt (nicht abwertend gemeint 😉😅👍🏻). Im Gegenteil. Gänsehaut,da es so toll geworden ist 😃🤘🏻👍🏻❣
❤️❤️❤️
Returm to the elder land... Damn imagine this song and Elder scrolls 6.........
Fuck, imagine Blind Guardian feat. Jeremy Soule
@@BlindBosnian Too.... Much... Epicnesss....
They should play this at Games Workshop or at a convention. Great background music. Some people are complaining, but I am almost sure they will be coming back to this album. Sometimes you wanna hear full in your face BG, but other times you will want to just put this record on instead.
this is just so damn awesome. reminds me of Queen
If I'm honest the first song was a hard listen the first few times but this one is awesome first time listening
Is it November yet? No? oh... ok, wake me up when the next single hits or the album releases....
It sounds like Hansi's solo album with an orchestra. Where are the other band members?
Andre Olbrich composes the music... he is the main composer for Blind Guardian.. go figure.
NEWS: Andre said in german magazine 'Hardline' , right now they are planning a live presentation of the album on one or two evenings.
But to early to talk about ( are planning it right now). He has to disappoint everyone who was hoping for a tour.
There will be no tour, because its logistically almost impossible.
New Blind Guardian album is very far songwriting wise. During Hansi is/was busy with Demons & Wizards Andre writes/wrote some more songs.
They want to produce it in 2020 and because they always need approximately one full year for production, 2021 is going to be the year of Blind Guardian.
In the magazine "Break Out" Andre said that live presentation of the orchestra album also depends on the success of the album.
FUNNY: In the magazine "Deaf Forever" they made a little interview with Hansi and he was asked whether the next
regular Blind Guardian album will be heavy metal which is more straight (since they now have finished the orchestra album).
Hansi: I would have pleasure to do it, but Andres ideas are now already so overly intellectual that i think he isn't able to do this at all anymore. :) :) :) :) :) :)
is this the full song or just the lyric parts?
WAAAAARRIOOOOORRRRRRR
YOU BETTER BEWAAAAARE
We have now heard 2 out of 11 songs.
BLIND GUARDIAN
This is a great song, a truly magnificent work...
BEEEEEEEHOOOOOOOOOLD THEEE QUEEEEEEEEEN
I'm the only one who thinks that the idea of the Orchestra substitute the whole band was a perfect idea?
