It was the fact that reference was made to “her penis” in court that got me. I think, had I been one of this brute’s victims, I would have been driven out of my mind by a system which leans over backwards to avoid
“offending” the trans community rather than chasing justice for victims of SA.

I brought this up with a close female family member at the time and was so shocked when she said that this person should be allowed in a womens prison because that's how they identified. They also said any male rapist should be allowed to be moved to a womens prison if they changed gender because some women sexually assault each other in prison so what difference did it make. It was one of the most shocking and surrel conversations I've ever had. It was eye opening to realise that some people people really think like that.

Can you please talk about how autistic children (particularly girls) are being told the reason they feel uncomfortable/disconnected in their bodies is down to them being the wrong gender, rather than as part of having autism?
It's so insidious that as the amount of autistic children increases year on year (thanks to social isolation, lack of skin/touch and bonding with mothers as babies/children, inflammation due to microplastics and pesticides, the degradation of the brain/gut connection, etc) society is telling them that it's their problem they feel "weird". They are telling people there is only one way to be, and if you do not fit into a particular box, you are somehow trans. This hurts because I know how far I have come. I was diagnosed in middle school. It was hard enough for my parents who are black and from a small Southern town to get a proper diagnosis. I had a progressive teacher at the time , but she was progressive in the sense of having learned about different modes of learning as well as the belief that girls, students from lower income brackets, and children of color were being misdiagnosed if, at all. Believe it or not, THAT USED TO BE PROGRESSIVE MINDED for my small town in the Bible belt. As a girl who fit in with very few people, I shudder to think what would have happened to me if I had TikTok and the new type of progressive teachers back then. I was full of so much self- loathing because I saw myself as “not normal”. Due to one compassionate teacher intervening and speaking to my parents, I advanced quickly and got into a really great math and science focused college later on, but only AFTER we found a better suited educational setting in my early years.. I also married a great guy and I did it all after learning how to work and socialize better with my pattern of learning. These activists are simply spreading ignorance and age old stereotypes enforcing the idea that you have to be one way as a girl or else you are not really “normal”. This is painful to witness. Chopping off body parts and other 'surgeries', will, most certainly, be painful and 'not something that is done lightly'.
But, I would contend, that acquiring the skills of self reflection, of learning how to understand yourself (and in doing so, understand others), is actually more difficult, and is not a path well trod.
Chopping off body parts is mechanical, and has that security of simplistic solutions.
Truly learning about yourself (the good and the bad), is, when carried through to the end, more of a poetical experience (which is not mechanical or 'scientific' or 'ideological') - - and consequently doesn't carry the same 'security'.
Choosing 'surgery', is, in fact, ruining a chance to learn what Life may be about.
It is this ruination, that has burnt all bridges, that creates desperation and eventually madness.
Once madness is legitimatised, then it contaminates everything.
AND, all this - - 'to look after the vulnerable'.
We are all vulnerable when we really start digging into who we are.

You're right (though I wish you weren't): Canada is lost. I haven't lived there in over 30 years, and hadn't visited in 5 years until a couple of months ago. I was SHOCKED by what I experienced, and the terrible change in such a short period of time. I was sitting outside with a friend who lives there, and we got onto this topic (caused by my surprise at seeing the rainbow++ flag plastered everywhere). She told me to keep my voice down, then whispered that it wasn't a "safe" subject to discuss in case I was overheard and upset others. I felt sick... is this what Canada has become???? I wasn't speaking loudly, and I was being very reasonable in what I was saying. Hell, I should have been able to shout my ideas in a free society! Btw, this happened in Halifax, which is supposed to be pretty tame in comparison to Vancouver or Toronto. I was thinking of moving back to Canada, but now I'll choose to stay where I am in Asia. I am so incredibly saddened by what Canada has become.

What an insane conflation to make, as a Canadian, please stay in Aisa if a Rainbow flag upsets you so. Also want to make it VERY CLEAR, I DO NOT support cohabitation r@pists with their victim pool, regardless of gender identity. But your comment isn't about that ,it's about being afraid of a Rainbow flag and discussing possible bigoted views. I'm sure your friend wouldn't have told you to "keep it down" if you were not saying hateful things. Why would you have to keep your voice down if you weren't saying anything hateful?

    • @SongMangosteen
      @SongMangosteen Před 4 měsíci +2

@@animebabe44 I'm not afraid of a rainbow flag. Your assumption is ridiculous. But seeing them plastered everywhere (the new, divisive ones rather than the original, inclusive rainbow flag) screams "accept this ideology". I'm uncomfortable with ANY flag being plastered everywhere (painted on streets, too!). And I'll tell you what I was saying, which may cause an ideologue like you tremble: "I'm shocked at how pervasive this ideology has become, and it's also pretty pathetic that even banks are cashing in on it by pretending to care by flying the flag". If that didn't make you cry, this OPINION will: I don't give a damn about anyone's gender identity. Identify as you please, but nobody should be obligated to play along (oh yeah, unless you're in Canada). Women's rights and safety are being trampled on by gender ideology, and we should be able to shout about that, rather than being cowed.

it is a horrible feeling not to be able to state objective truth because of an opressive regime.
Of course the rainbow flags are signaling everybody what they have to think and do. It is a very dangerous cult which is winning over the world by storm and the alphabetsoup is only one aspect of it.
I was not allowed in stores for months in my country because I did not want to take dangerous poison against a theoretical exercise. And I had it easy, in other countries they even could not buy food.
I hate what this world has become, or what it always was, but now this ugly thing is in the open. And STILL most of the people chose to ignore it

Sexual orientation (hetero-homo) is completely different than the trans concept. Most all male to female as adults are heterosexual. Most all of the female to male are young girls who are susceptible to social contagion (in the past the probs included eating disorders and self harm). These issues can be treated, and they do not constitute 'conversion". Sexual orientation does not change. No serious scientist, psychologist believes that a heterosexual child can be converted to having a homosexual orientation. The laws against conversion have been proposed by progressives who are promoting the trans concept and they deliberately confuse it with the destructive attempt to change sexual orientation. In fact, the trans movement is actually attempting to covert gay boys into castrated gay kids....

The College updated the guidance in term of format but didn't make any meaningful changes to the substance.

But then along came Isla to be the poster child for everything that everyone who even just questioned self idea had said was going to happen. I think people forget and kids just don't know that trans is an acronym for the word transition which is a noun. You're transitioning to be something else. It's not a form of self expression in the conventional sense which I think people are using the word for today. But language evolves. Traditionally it's like body dysmorphia only it's gender dysmorphia and can be diagnosed. I don't think kids should be exposed to that until they are into puberty because that's when it'll likely become more apparent as to how the person really feels about it, being a kid is confusing enough. However, the younger generation paves the way for the future, I'm sure people were saying the same thing about gay marriage back in the day or women voting, or people getting more rights in the workplace. So I'm in two minds, on one hand I'm excited to see how things evolve and on the other hand have heard that people who transitioned in the 80ties and 90ties do not like what is happening with the LGBTQ community. But I myself am happy being the gender I am and feel also that having an opinion of something I'm not going through is ignorant and entitled. I don't know how they're feeling.

The great thing about the whoel trans situation is that it has laid waste to a lot of feminist assertions, which were just as plainly bogus.
My personal hope is we can now take a look at all the gender related dogma and come up with a model that is based on measurable facts and the same critical theory that bought us modern feminism.
It's hard to understand why everyone is getting upset about a social construct when every one knows that all genders are equally dexterous, strong, fast and have equal reflexes, or that there is room for sexism like single gender prisons when we know that men and women can live in the same facility without separation. The feminists told us that women didn't need separate facilities when they wanted women to be allowed to serve on naval vessels without separate ablutions.

    The issue is simple.
It has everything to do with *language* and how it is used. Ideas become words... and as yet the idea is already here now... but the word doesn't yet exist.
Sex as a medical definition, as opposed to gender, as a self identification definition. They are *not* the same thing. And never will be.
More words need to be used. Accurate ones.
In physical aspects, biological males will *always* have the advantage. There have been enough obvious videos describing why, with varied levels of intentional offensiveness.
The word "Woman" has come to mean many things. As does the word "Man". And the levels of friction are obviously where the variances of those definitions meet.
Yes, a trans woman wants to be called a woman. A trans man wants to be called a man. That they expect everyone to socially nod and smile on this issue. And socially, that can be called fair.
On the medical side, such as who ends up in what prison, on what teams, what sports you can compete in, under what rules, etc. the only thing that matters is the physical.
Having the language *itself* define differences where limits are needed is the *only* way to make lasting and stable changes, that benefit BOTH sides.

    • @platypups
      @platypups Před 4 měsíci +1

The issue is not simple and you've vastly oversimplified it. Sex is not a medical definition, it's a reproductive strategy. Humans, as well as all mammals, develop along one of two reproductive lines - small gametes and large gametes, or those who can impregnate and those who can get pregnant. There are those whose chromosomes may differ due to an abnormality but there is no third gamete and mammals are incapable of changing their sex. Even intersex individuals are only capable of producing either small or large gametes, therefore they are always either male or female.
Gender, on the other hand, has always been considered a more polite way to refer to one's sex until activists decided to try to justify gender ideology by warping the language and making gender a "feeling". Gender, however the language is twisted in current year, is still a synonym for sex for the vast majority of English-speaking humans. Most people, including myself, are happy to accommodate people's desire to present themselves however they so choose, but I'm not going to call a male a woman and I do not accept that the word woman has come to mean many different things. Unless you're an activist, you know exactly what is meant by the word woman and that is adult human female, as distinct from juvenile human female, and as distinct from adult human male, no matter how he dresses. Socially, it is not at all fair to pretend that biological reality is secondary to someone's feelings, nor is it kind to go along with delusion. And this is before you look into the harm caused by gender ideology as a social contagion. There are swathes of detransitioners whose bodies will never recover from the hormonal and surgical interventions performed on them after society convinced them they were born in the wrong body. Self-deletion rates do not improve in gender distressed individuals after transition. Apart from anything else, that shows transition is not an effective healthcare solution for these people. As I said, I support the right of any adult to make whatever decision feels right for them and their body, but to pretend this is something that simply requires society to be a little kinder is woefully naive.

@@platypups Yes, as I said, changing some areas of the language would make things easier for many. Because neither "side" is speaking to the other in ways that that that other can understand, using the same words, but with *vastly* different language and definitions.
The thing is, you vomited wonderfully accurate science all over us all. But this isn't a science issue. It's a series of societal ones, psychological ones. And, in the end, also individual ones.
A language one, as all things are, when dealing with ideas.
Kindness is all well and good, but it doesn't actually make things change in any direction. Nor does it advance the understanding of the issue at all. Learning to talk to each other using the same words with the same definitions that BOTH understand and agree on is always the first step to understanding.
Otherwise we still have one group saying these words, and the other using the same ords... and each side refusing to understand.
Which I am fully convinced is what is happening, *deliberately.* Languages change. English especially. Those, like yourself who flat out refuse to see any changes to the language as they get older is not a new thing. Happens every generation. Yet changes happen every generation too.
And anyone who says they DO understand it is flat out lying. Even those within the processes of "transitioning" are gaining experience with it... but no one has that experience over a lifetime as yet. Stating things like "society convinced them" that this as a thing they wanted is awfully ignorant. And arrogant. "Showing them it as an option" is perhaps closer to accurate. That it may or may not be an option that actually helps them in any direct way related to the issues they are having, is a different story; one that should be far more heavily explored before changes are made that are irreversible. And is as varied as all psychological issues are, being rather heavily case by case differentiated.
Personally from what I have observed so far just like in most major decisions, it raises as many issues as it alleviates. It can solve *one* major issue, if they suffer from it... but will not be without consequences, raising new issues.

Australia and New Zealand aren't nearly as far gone as the US, the UK, and Canada. It's still uncontroversial here, for example, that there's a difference between men and women. Even in academia and so forth it's relatively unusual to see pronouns in email signatures.

I'm in Australia and this has not been my experience at all, re academia. Each one of my classes has at least 1-3 trans individuals in it and we are forced to share pronouns before starting each class. Pronouns are in every teacher's email signatures. And horrid erstwhile premier of Victoria Dictator Dan Andrews snuck through hate speech laws before he left office. You can be fined or jailed for misgendering now. I agree, the majority of the populace sees right through it, but in every workplace that's arts-oriented you can't escape it, and the same goes for universities.

However, as far as I know, the fleld may as well be "arts-oriented" in Canada - where a (cisgendered male heterosexual) academic suggested to me that I change my "(s)he"/"him/her" references in a paper to "they"/"them" references, so as not to offend any non-binary readers. I didn't really mind, but the paper turned out less clear for it!

You realise that men are more equipped to fight other men off than women are, right? And that males who have been sent to prison for graping women are significantly more likely to assault others in prison if they are women than men as that's where the attraction lies? And that grapists in male prisons are significantly more likely to be beaten up by the other inmates for what they've done than be able to do what you describe?
