I love how this displays your two main types of chess players:
1. The veteran who has memorized every single strategy in the game.
2. The guy who moves a piece from point A to point B to take piece X.
I really hope Lackadaisy starts getting more prominence in the CZcams sphere. I love Hazbin Hotel, but it'll be nice for the spotlight to be shared with all the other indie projects going on.
For sure, especially now with Glitch studios too, alot more competitors are growing in popularity. I think especially after Hazbin Hotel s1 is fully released, we’ll get more spotlight on other shows
If your looking for more indie projects, you should check out No Evil by Betsy Lee. It's so good, but it gets almost no attention!
I thought this was such a great display of the intricacies of the characters. Which fun fact about what Viktor said about learning chess in trenches. This was actually common for soldiers to be seen playing chess in their downtime during World War I to master strategy. The sad part is it wasn’t uncommon for soldiers to spend one minute relaxing and the next to see their companions dead beside them as they were cornered beneath their corpses getting drowned in mud. This is why so many soldiers from that era suffer from PTSD due to this constant switch between downtime and death of the people you were just playing chess with.
Actually for soldiers it was weeks on end of absolute boredom, fighting off cat size rats from their food, removing ticks etc. Then short bursts of the most terrifying experience anyone could experience.

I’m not much of an expert on Chess myself but clearly both of these characters have different styles of playing. Mordecai is knowledgeable about strategies, while “Viktor” is more practical and instinctive.
I’m surprised you didn’t react to the other Lackadaisy short with Rocky and Freckle.
The cadence of "... checkers...?" was amazing
One thing to note about Chess is it does actually evolve and change over time, which is wild to think about. Moves and even pieces come and go. Oddly enough, it's a game that balances itself. No matter what new moves are discovered, no matter what new pieces are conceived, the game reverts back to its basic form no matter what. Some of these changes can still be found, and it's referred to as Fairy Chess. Worth looking into.
I don't know chess either. I'm a checkers gal myself.

My bestie is kind of a slow person... but she somehow won 1rst place in a competition of chess... I still don't understand how she can think steps ahead for chess but not for life decisions 🤣🤣
Weirdly, Chess comes easy to me and it's Checkers that I can never wrap my head around.
I mean I'm nowhere near a *great* Chess player, I almost always lose to a human opponent, but I don't make it easy for them.
