I live in Gqeberha and this is already in the taxi rank(in the morning) I go to. I've seen two so far. as passengers we hate it coz it means we have to wait a bit more and it's a little slower than taxis but it has it's pros too plus we have no choice anyway
I think i like this bus, I don't mind it at all. The exterior is fine but that dash is sooo commercial and cheap looking, can't complain about those seats at though and it looks more spacious than the VW Crafter and Merc Sprinter.

This is the future. Funny from the past. The age of big 65seater buses is coming to an end. I see these more for long distance travel in future
Most likely will be used to transport school kids and sports teams.
People who own flats might even be able to use it as private transport for the tenants into town/uni.
Basically it's best for people who already have customers who are willing to pay more for the extra space it has over quantums
Taxi drivers will be up in arms if they see such a bus operating in town.

These are the same buses used in Kigali Rwanda, but they have folding seats thus seating 30 passengers!
Put bull bar and two flood lights, tint windows and install a tow bar and pull trailer on a long distance route, then everyone will go for this bus. I mean, a Crafter is 103KW and this bus is 100KW, also it has nice knee clearance and space inside, it's comfortable and has aircon. This is TOYOTA ,its durable and the parts are cheap. I will go for it definitely than Sprinter and Crafter

I think parhaps the longer distance trips, much better safety than a quantum, but that's not really a concern for taxi owners. Maybe the higher seating capacity is a chance to make more money per trip.
I've seen them here in Port Elizabeth taxi rank. Toyota is definitely trying to take some Merc Sprinter and VW Crafter customers. Power output of Vw is 103kw and of Merc is 120kw. If you compare the prices of the three right now they are over R900k .Yes Toyota might be slower going up hills maybe even use more fuel and doesn't have the looks but its a Toyota .I'd put my money on toyota.
Rather go for a iveco daily 25 seater for that price than this bus

Really 4.0 liter engine. Sprinter does so with a 2.0 liter.

i think its a cool looking bus. nothing fancy. the ancient design is lovely. but for 1million it makes no sense. it would take any business literally 5-7 years to start making profit
For that kind of money you can get a 40 seater bus. This Coaster is overpriced.
Just like these new Quantums with the long bonnet in front. They go for around 700k - 800k, which is what you can pay for a 22 seater Iveco.

@@MuziSambo The seats may be 22 in number, but each individual seat is massive in size. You could probably comfortably fit 2 adults in each seat, which would mean a taxi driver could load 35-40 people. So I doubt taxi rank officials would allow one driver to take such a massive load alone while other taxis are just sitting empty in the line.
You can still fit more people in a quantam 🤣😂

Muzi I would rather wait for the Toyota HiAce/Quantum 2.8 Commuter bus 17 seater if ever so is coming to South Africa should Toyota South Africa get their minds to think correctly.this big boxy shape school bus will never work for our taxi industry I can guarantee u that one! Take a look at the lastest Mercedes Benz sprinter 519 CDi 22-seater how good it is,to drive,to park,how quick it is on steep inclines and very safe and comfortable for driver and passengers...it's very much car-like,it doesn't feel as if u driving a "truck" going slowly. Eish cabanga nje they even put those south african flag stickers to make it look like taxi-like and blend in with the Quantum taxi vibes aaaarg shame man,toyota needs to reconsider their new Marketing and Product Manager really....
