✨Today I am happy to share how to upload a PDF Sewing Pattern into Cricut Design Space using the Print then Cut Image upload option instead of the Cut Image upload option. Let me show you how to easily upload your precious sewing patterns in Cricut Design Space.

I would love to see a tutorial using inkscape when sewing. I am having a difficult time flipping the design and including all the pieces (dart marks and other markers)).
Hi Catherine, Are you referring to digitizing a pdf pattern by using software like the free version of Inkscape? Sorry, I can't help more as I use Adobe Illustrator or design in Design Space if it's simple shapes. Perhaps search for Inkscape tutorials and sewing? I hope you can find what you are looking for. I hope I understood your question correctly 😊

I have followed along your tutorial with perfect results. I have a question.
I have a doll pattern that I would like to increase by 50% there is no inch square or any other measurement .
there are 10 pieces in pattern .I would be delighted for your expertise on this matter.

Hi Anneoflaherty380, You're very welcome, so happy you found it helpful.
About increasing pattern sizes, I have opened my PDF Pattern using Adobe Acrobat which gives you a scaling option, meaning you can scale any pattern up or down by percentage. You could do a test print by clicking on "print" then change the page setting to just "1" (since you are just testing) then select "Size" tab and change from "actual size" to "custom scale". Then change to the percentage you want to test. Your pattern page shows in a picture so you can see if it will fit on the page. Even if it does not fit on one page, it may work since you are going to be uploading into Design Space. So it needs to fit on a 11.5" X 11.5" mat or 11.5 X 23.5" Cricut mat.
If it looks like it will fit then you could increase all the pattern pages to 150%. I know you can add your own 1" square to the pages if you have the paid version of Adobe Acrobat (not sure about the free version) If you can then you are ready to upload to Design Space per my tutorial. If you are unable to add a 1" square then you would need to draw your own precise square and then scan the pattern piece and then upload to Design Space.

OMG!!!!! Finally! After what feels like watching 300 CZcams videos to figure this out, I found yours that explains it perfect! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏You are a saint! lol I do have a question though...... I am using this technique to do a appliqué pattern and on my appliqué pattern there is no 1" square to reference to. How would I make the exact size needed? I'm praying you have the answer. lol @DeniseHumphrey
Hi Denise! Your tutorials are my favorite because I can follow in real time lol! Anywho...How can I add cut lines on curves, so I don't have to made the little 1/8'' clips with my scissors. Also, instead of the triangle pen marks, can I make little notches instead that cutout instead of pen marks?
Hi Kim, So happy you can follow along, It's so helpful! For any lines you want, add a score line from the shapes icon, then adjust the "Height" of the line, then from the "Operation" menu, change to "Basic Cut". Be sure to "attach" any lines you add to the pattern so the Cricut knows where to cut. Same theory applies for the notches, you can use a Triangle shape instead of a score line and you can even add a notch that points off of the pattern if needed and weld it to the pattern piece. I have never done it but instead of marking can we make notches then Cricut can cut
Hi Smileheals, Yes you can! Great suggestion too. You can use the “shapes” option to choose your triangles or honestly any shape you prefer 😃 then duplicate as many as you want and then place them where you want, then “select” all the notches while holding Shift key + the pattern piece then click on weld. Just FYI weld is permanent once you save your project. But if you use “weld” & goof up before “saving” you can click the “back” arrow to make any adjustments 😁 Hope this helps 😊
How can I add a seam allowance?
Hi Glory, I am not sure I understand how you may be asking. All sewing patterns I've uploaded already have seam allowance. If by chance you are referring to a pattern you are creating from scratch, then I would increase the pattern size by the amount of seam allowance you desire. For example, I commonly use 1/4" seam allowance on my patterns. When it comes time to sew your pattern there is no need to have this seam allowance marked on your patterns as you would use your sewing machine options for keeping track of seam allowance. For example, I often use the edge of my presser foot or slap a piece of blue tape where I want the fabric to line up. I hope this helps! 😊

@@Mysweetlittledoll Hi Roula, You would duplicate the pattern piece and make the duplicate size one as an example 1/4" smaller all the way around. It will already be showing as a "Cut" file so click on the pattern piece then go to "Operation" at the top of DS and change it from "cut" to "draw" then select the marker pen used for sewing. Then do not forget to select both pattern pieces and select "Attach" so the Cricut will know to draw on that one pattern piece. So sorry I should have included this in the tutorial. I honestly did not think of it as I don't ever mark my sewing patterns with a seam a😊😊llowance. I hope this helps! If you need more assistance feel free to email me.
