  • Checking out some new Home Assistant devices from Aqara. Most of them use Matter over Thread or a new hub. Time to add some new devices and prepare for some more automations

    I appreciate you taking some of us newbies through the process. Keep at it. Thanks…

    Use trigger ID's so you do not need seperate automations for motion on and motion clear

    Great stuff, a smart home video I can relate to. You’re already a step ahead of me.

    Why did you buy the Aquara Hub when you already have the Sonoff Dongle-E - which is a universal Zigbee gateway ?

    The hallway is a non-issue with the presence sensor, as you can "ignore" that area after it maps everything out.

      That is good to know. I'm still pretty new to these motion sensors so my mission for this weekend is to start to play around with their settings a bit more

    I wish the pet rejection was better on the presence sensor. Haven’t been able to use with my security system due to false detections with the dogs. Up to date firmware too with the most recent ai person models

    should have used original door and window sensors as they are MUCH smaller and you are using the hub so they work well. Binding is the term they use for connecting to the hub

    How would you compare the Aqara M1S and M2? Does it improve the stability?

    • @jcm9698
      @jcm9698 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I like the M2 as it connects either ethernet or wifi. I prefer ethernet whenever possible and it is a great little hub.

      @daily_sua024 Před 2 měsíci

      Then is there a way I can select the M2 as my lead hub in the Apple HomeKit ecosystem?

      @@daily_sua024 Your lead hub? Your hubs will be listed in the rooms with the devices that are bound to each hub.

    is your wifi 2.4+5ghz ? i think you need to set up your wifi as 2.4ghz only for the fp2 to connect succesfully

      Yeah this was the issue that the app was telling me. However, I never switched between frequencies and it ended up working after a factory reset of the sensor. So I'm not sure if my phone switched frequency in the background or what

      @@samsalaskyyeah your phone most likely went to 2.5ghz

      In your video I saw the app tell you what the problem was long before you ever got close to it.
      Mine took me a couple of minutes to get it connected without a hub.
