In less than a year, we've witnessed the integration of three Starship flights, with Flight 4 eagerly anticipated. Yet, even as we await its liftoff, preparations for Flight 5 are well underway.
In recent days, hardware for Flight 5, notably the S30, has been actively involved in exciting activities, suggesting readiness for launch immediately following Flight 4.
SpaceX's NEW UPGRADES on Starship Flight 5 are Awesome and Unlike others!
Amidst these significant developments, we've observed several special upgrades to this Ship. Join us on today's episode of Great SpaceX as we analyze these upgrades and their potential impact on Flight 5.
Firstly, let's address the change related to the communication antenna system. Previously installed in the nose cone of the prototype, it has now been officially removed and relocated with the S30. This change is easily recognizable as the antennas are now equipped with heat shields on the outside, offering protection during flight. As for the new location, we'll delve into that shortly.
SpaceX's NEW UPGRADES on Starship Flight 5 are Awesome and Unlike others!
This alteration seems geared towards enhancing the safety and reliability of the communication system. Placing it in the nose cone posed risks of potential damage. Despite its functionality during Flight 3, aiding in capturing impressive re-entry images of the S28, it ultimately lost contact with the ground system after only a few minutes.

Its incredible watching them adapt and improve on the fly as they perfect this mindblowing feat of engineering. It would take NASA a few years to make the kinds of changes they make in a couple months. I love seeing them steadily shorten the gap between launches and the constant changes being made. When someone can admit there is a better way and then quickly does it you know that they are serious about every claim

Concern about Artemis program, surely enough NASA should use SpaceX. Dragon is already here and fully functional, perhaps needs minors mods to accomplish the mission.

They should try instead of the 3 push-in clips at the back of the tiles, a slide-in T-rail on the side of the tiles with slits on its sides. When it expands or vibrated it will push against the rail-clips.

    Starship catching.
My suggestion is, would it be a good idea to pick up the starship loaded with the landing fuels lifted to the tower's maximum height? Then start the landing engines while held by the arms, then when the hover has stabilised, release the arms, hover around a little and recatch with the arms and recovery?

At some point soon *SpaceX* will have to launch *two* variants of *Starship* in rapid succession.
The first one is an empty tanker variant that will *_never_*_ re-enter_ the *Earth's* atmosphere, while the second one is a full transfer variant that _re-enters_ the *Earth's* atmosphere.

If you are talking about the fuel transfer test = both the chaser and the target will re-enter.

Is it just me or has the nosil on the Merlin vacuum engine been shortened ?

    • @kwichzwellbreck697
      @kwichzwellbreck697 Před měsícem +2

It has been for this flight to save costs.
The shortening of the vac engine exhaust chamber has been done a handfull of times already but can only be done if the mission parameters allow it (= dont need the full power).
      But keen eyes 😊.

Digital cameras placed behind replaceable transparent ALON* fericule lenses could afford more camera views. ALON* has a 1000 °f higher rating than Stainless Steel.
Eventually you will want many cameras mounted on Starship to watch fueling ports, cargo, docking areas, frontal nose cone, lower landing legs,... Positioned such that the crew can monitor realtime outside and inside views of Starship from the command console.

Why not use a modified SpaceX Crew Dragon for the Artemis II mission? The reliability and safety factor has been proven many times over. After all the astronaut's lives are the most important issue in this mission. Nasa relies too much on legacy technology and is tied down with bureaucracy to be efficient in its present goals.
