Because , it seems a lot of people didnt know what SNK was... so it makes sense
It seems a real effort to legitimize smash as a fighting game from Nintendo, educating their base to respect and being respected in turn
Sakurai was a KoF player. He got the idea for Smash while playing KoF95.
That man loves Fatal Fury and KoF.
That's because a majority of smash players are ignorant of fighting games. Due to them mostly being people who only play Nintendo games.
Not even Keef knew what Samurai Shodown was and that's an iconic fighting game series.
If Doomguy gets in, I wanna see Keef (or whoever the Japanese version of Keef is) do a version of this for all the Japanese players who call him "Green Samus."

I feel like most Melee players should remember hearing abour Fatal Fury. The last one was in '99 and Melee was '01. The Melee players were fighting to get Smash accepted as part of the FGC and in tournaments and are more likely to know the FGC than the new Ultimate players.

i dunno man, maybe its just me but i never ever play traditional fighting games with the control stick, so doing things like quarter circles or shoryuken inputs feel really weird without a D-pad. I have respect for anyone who can do combos using control stick.

I learned about Terry back in the 90s through KoF
I didn't had internet so I had to uncover his stuff by blind practice in an arcade no move sheet no internet.
Then I learned Angel and blue Mary to complete my KoF 2002 team.
I don't regret it but you see... Sakurai treats you guys sooooo nicely I understand your pain in getting the hang of something weird or new but if you like the character stick to it and you'll find so many fun things!

Watching the fgc react to Terry, every single video had the reactor at least make one comment about "Well Sakurai and Nintendo give a fuck" or "I wish so&so gave us that kind of love..." I am surprised people don't mention Alot of the soul Caliber and Tekken frame data devs also work on Smash bros currently.... But i do not think that is as well known. Anywho, stay positive. SNK vs Capcom has gotta be announced soon. Especially with MVC kinda dead thanks to Disney...

I has that same reaction all over CZcams. Fucking Fatal Fury was literally my first fighting game, before even SF2 championship edition. Terry is literally my career main going back decades, even more than me running Ryu in street fighter. Hell, he was my anchor char in CvS2, and I ALWAYS ran him as my r2 when I went with a 3 man team. I saw the fucking "Ken with a hat" comments and wanted to buster wolf some asshats...

@@jaksida300 I know that's a joke, but besides the point, SNK was really poor when they make that game. That's just as good as it can be with their budget. They spent a lot for KoF XIII which is an awesome game, but flopped hard. And another point is it's their first transitional game from 2d to 3d so give them a break. The gameplay aspect for KoF XIV is still fun and is pretty much the same KoF.
