Winter Brawl has more entrants for *Windjammers* than for GG or BB. MVCI has nearly double that. But MVCI is the dead game.
redvenomweb MvCI is a very recent game, unlike those. So yes, it is dead.
redvenomweb People don't enter for GG or BB because of how hard they are and know they'll just get stomped. They are technical fighters.
So yeah ofcourse more people will try for Windjammers. Anyone can play that game.

It is rather bizarre logic to claim that the important factor in determining which games should be part of a tournament is not "How many people will enter this tournament?" or even "How many viewers does this game get during tournament streams?" (because Marvel crushes GG and BB easily in both of those things), but instead "How many people are casually streaming this game on Twitch?"

I gotta say part of my hype is due to curiosity on how this game is played in a super competitive environment.
Long combo strings are not a problem, Guilty Gear has them, Marvel has them and they always been crazy hype. I wouldn't necessarily call it "spamming until someone lands the 2H". Though I haven't played it enough to really comment on that right now, but I am interested in seeing how top play neutral looks like.
It's Dragonball, it's hype, it's new, I just can't imagine anyone not going completely ham watching this game.
Pretty much, the game looks great but there doesn't seem to be much depth to it at all, not even from the execution point of view since most of the characters share the same combos. This will probably be the only time it will be at EVO
Guilty Gear has long combo strings, but it also has a Burst mechanic. It is so weird to me to see DragonBallFighterZ - an ArcSys game - not have a burst mechanic. It removes a counter-play tool that can make fights more interesting. The super-regen x-factor just isnt as interesting as Bursts are.

portalsofmadnes I mean don't get me wrong, both melee and sm4sh are great and all, but KoF XIV has been one of the highlights of both Evo's its been at, and is probably the best game SNK has ever made imho. But while we're complaining, skullgirls also never made Evo, so I guess lifes just not fair.
imo XIV was somewhat of a disappointment. While the mechanics and gameplay are all there, the new 3d artstyle made the game lose some of its old charm
