Taiwan's president calls on China to stop threats

- President Lai of Taiwan asked China to stop its military and political threats, saying in his inauguration speech that peace is the only choice and that Beijing had to respect the choice of the Taiwanese people.
Lai, addressing the crowd outside the Japanese-colonial-era presidential office in central Taipei, repeated a call for talks with China, which views the proudly democratic island as its own territory and has never renounced the use of force to bring it under Beijing's control.

The US doesn’t regularly violate Cuban airspace. The US doesn’t ramble about how a conquest and integration of Cuba into itself is an inevitability. The US isn’t preparing large military drills for an invasion of Cuba.
The US and Cuba have a tense but cold relationship. China and Taiwan have a tense but heating up relationship, in which China is the aggressor.

Every country in the UN recognises 1 China and Taiwan as part of it. Britain and America both signed and agreed to this in 1971.
