Yes Allison was blessed by God with the angelic voice. You should check out some of her music. You are so right the two of them made a perfect combination.
Allison Kraus is one of the best singers you'll ever hear, her voice is pitch perfect. Thanks for sharing and more importantly thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service! The "soldier" in this video is Ricky Schroder & he directed this video. He's been on a LOT of things but he started out in the movie "The Champ" & was the youngest Golden Globe Award winner. Then he was on "Silver Spoons" from 1982 - 1987. He was in "Scrubs", "NYPD Blue", "24", "Strong Medicine" & others over the past 40+ years. The little girl at the end of the video is Rick's real life youngest daughter, Faith. She looks just like him!
Brad is great and has piles of hits/awards. Could try more touching "He Didn't Have to Be" or funny "Me Neither". Allison is also amazing with 27 Grammy awards. Recommend "The Lucky One"
Growing up in the American southwest, this one is definitely an anthem. Whenever it comes on, no matter where you are, or what you're doing, you turn it up and sing along.
Happier songs from both artists would be "The man he didn't have to be" by Brad Paisley and "When you say nothing at all" by Allison Krauss. Both of them have tons of hits, both are country however Allison is more Bluegrass than Brad. They are great storytellers.
Brad has plenty other happier songs that wonât jerk your tears lmao âIâm Gonna Miss Herâ is one thatâs almost always stuck in my head and I sing it at work đđđ
When you said you liked Brads voice, i couldn't wait to see the look on your face when Krauss started singing. Good stuff so far homie, along the same lines as this one, Sam Stone - John Prine, the oldest live version is the best. A man comes home from war, and thats what Sam Stone is about. Its a sad truth about soldiers home from Vietnam. Good job!
Love your reaction, as always. The man who played the soldier is named Ricky Schroder. As a child actor he was in a sitcom called Silver Spoons and has done many roles as an adult.
Ricky Schroder, who is the soldier in this video, produced it and wanted Brad and Alisson to sing the song. His two (of 4) children were at the funeral scene and at the end. This was based on a true story.
Brad Paisley's One of Those Lives is also a great song with a serious message. There's no official video, just the audio version available. Worthy of a reaction video in my opinion and certainly worth a listen.
I first heard Alison Krause in the early 90âs on CMT with âThat Old Feelingâ. She was like 19 at the time but her voice was the most beautiful I had ever heard. As years went by, I compared her to the Sirens from mythology. A voice so beautiful that ships were drawn to rocky shore. And wouldnât ya know it, she supplied the vocals to the siren scene from O Brother Where Art Thou.
Brad famously stated at the CMT or AMC awards "Who knew a song about drinking, cheating and death would win an award!" I've loved this song since it came out! Thanks for reacting! I'm so looking forward to all your country reactions. I don't think there is another reactor doing this, and I love it that you are! Always loved country for the story telling.
Brad will either have you laughing or crying in most of his songs. The absolutely hilarious videos that are a MUST watch are I'm Gonna Miss Her (featuring his real life wife), Celebrity, Ticks, and Alcohol. The more serious ones are He Didn't Have to Be and She's Everything. And Allison has the voice of an angel - it's just perfection. She does a beautiful cover of When You Say Nothing at All.
Rick Schroeder is the soldier. Most famous for his debut (at the age of 8) in the movie "The Champ" with Jon Voight. Ricky won the Golden Globe (youngest winner) for that performance. Then he did some TV shows and in 1989 was in the mini-series "Lonesome Dove" with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. Probably the best western ever made.
This song has always hit hard. In 2010 my dad committed suicide, my parents had been divorced for years. July of 2021 my mom's liver exploded and poisoned her brain. She died that day on a ventilator in the hospital. She had psoriasis of the liver. From HEAVILY drinking. She continued to drink a bottle a day after they told her one more drink would kill her. She kept it up for 4 years before it finally did. Now this song hits way different. Such a tragic song so beautifully done.
In addition to playing the starring role as the soldier in this video, Rick Shroder also wrote & directed it (& I believe the song was used In a movie he made along the same theme, but I'm not sure about that). The song, itself, was written by Jon Randall and Bill Anderson (himself, a country legend of many, many years). A little history: Rick Schroder was a child star whose first major role was in "THE CHAMP," (1979) which starred Jon Voight and Faye Dunaway. As a teen he played in a TV sitcom called "Silver Spoons." As an adult, I recall that he was on "Law & Order" for several years. He's probably done a lot of other stuff- those are just the shows I remember.
Brad has some great songs - my favourites are She's Everything, Wafting on a Woman, He Didn't Have to Be, Little Moments, Alcohol, Celebrity, & I'm Going To Miss Her - Alison is great to she is mainly a blue grass singer. I'm enjoying your channel
Hey man I'm a musician in South Texas and I love your videos. I would highly, highly recommend Whitehouse Road or Nose on the Grindstone by Tyler Childers, he's an Appalachian country musician and is what I consider one of the best of our lifetime. Much love from the south
It's so wonderful that your girlfriend waited for you to return home, and became your wife!! As one militay veteran (Desert Storm) to another, thankyou for your service!! We sure do appreciate y'all, Brits, being our ally!!
The soldier is actor Ricky Schroeder. Brad and Allison are so good together. Brad has many hits, some serious and some funny. Allison is one helluva musician. You definitely need to listen to more of each if them. Thank you for sharingđ
They male actor is Ricky Schroeder. He was the kid in the TV series, Silver Spoon. Not many would remember that, it was quite a long time ago, in TV years. Not sure what else he would have been in.
Allison is an extremely talented singer and musician. If you ever decide to explore bluegrass music she has a lot of great music. I would recommend a song by Vince Gill that features Allison as well as another talented artist Ricky Skaggs. The song is Go Rest High on that Mountain. The three of them have some incredible harmonies in that song.
You can actually vacation at Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. It's pretty cool, right on a river (possibly a creek - I forget). They even have a replica of the house she grew up in from Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Sometimes she even performs, or she used to at least.
A fun Brad paisley song is, "I'm Going to Miss Her". Give that one a listen sometime when you're looking for a laugh!đ The woman in the video with him is his real-life wife.

Brad Paisley is an amazing musician, and he's one of the few musicians in country who can do both very serious songs as well as fun songs. "Then" is a great love song be him, 'waiting on a woman' is another great one
