Ive been a fan for a couple years, but ive only ever commented on a couple videos. This one is absolutely phenomenal. I cant believe this castle/mansion. This place is really beautiful. Im so glad that people have left it alone, for the most part. There is a little graffiti. Every room is just beautiful. I cant believe how massive this place is outrageous and the secret library is just unreal. Its so beautiful. It was the families little private work space. Its so odd how all the hallways are hidden. Wow! Thank you Steve for the tour. Its amazing!

Don’t think that’s a library, more of a workroom. Seamstresses kept busy with all those drapes and gowns. The table at the end would be the boss. There’s probably one machine that works the best and the head seamstress got it. The books are most likely patterns and designs.

Like that you are soft spoken just a perfect voice for looking at beautiful places like you go. I've never had anything in my life. And I live on a disability and barely pay my bills and my car sits in the driveway unable to ever get it fixed .. but the times that I watch your videos...they take me to places that I'll never ever be but I feel like I am so alive breathtaking places. And they make everything okay for a while. Thank you. but but I had to laugh when you read the newspaper and you said the year 1962 and said wow they're really old. The reason I left so hard is because I thought wow they're two years younger than I am some people might not laugh about that and you feel really old and much for your videos is too beautiful to feel old even though for a second I realize how young you are and how young my kids are and my grandchildren and I wanted only great grandson thank you for everything keep doing what you do. Lots of love from Elizabethtown Kentucky

My Granny had one but my Uncle came into her apartment when she was sick and in the hospital and he just took it.
Probably sold it, it meant nothing to him.
She taught me how to sew on it when I was a little kid. I would've treasured it.
He was a strange guy, I didn't like him. He was mean and he took my cousins away to another city. I loved them. I had no one but them, two boys, one older, one younger.
Only saw them a handful of times in my life.
      Family can be painful.
It was the only thing of value that she had.
      Now sewing machines are plastic.

The son who inherited the property wasn't a bad guy at all. He inherited the property taxes and inheritance taxes, and legally abandoning the property is often the only way to dissolve those debts. He would have had to raise the cash he probably didn't have by selling the business. I can't blame him for walking away from a castle that would have drained him dry. It was the sensible thing to do. It took almost a decade for the province to sell this to its next owner. Imagine having to pay the tax and rates on this for a decade. Selling estates like these is almost impossible. They are too costly to upkeep. He wasn't a bad guy; he was just lumbered with a property that was too costly to continue owning. The French ( they do this in other countries as well ) need to overhaul their property tax and inheritance system if they want these properties to thrive.

Just discovered your videos. Some observations: 1) the room between the sitting room/living room and the kitchen is a butler's pantry; 2) the several smaller rooms on the ground floor would be a music room, morning room, salon, and the like; 3) third floor rooms were for staff; 4) some of the language in use in the chapel is Latin (sorry, I can't translate). Short stairs to rooms such as the secret library were probably due to changes in structural elevations when the original construction was added onto. The secret library was probably not a library originally but a workroom and all the shelving was for storing materials and equipment. (See neeleymountain comment below.) It would be interesting to have known how old those sewing machines are. Singer machines were first produced in 1851 and were operated by a treadle. Very enjoyable all in all. Thank you.

I say this with all respect you will enjoy so much more knowing the history behind these objects and the respect they deserve

Amazing & stunning! I can imagine it during each period going back to medieval times. I can only imagine what you would find if you had more time to really get into the bones of such a historical beauty. If only walls could talk-the stories they could tell! Thank you so much for such a beautiful video that documents such a fantastic piece of history. I loved everything about it. The French had such unique style and set many trends throughout centuries. Seeing it in a real unaltered way, makes you understand why. But I would have to say that my favorite room would be the Chapel. It was a testament to their unwavering faith, to make it a priority to put something so lovely in their home to worship God. Through the years, I bet many hours have been spent kneeling to Pray through war, plagues, illnesses and death as well as celebrations of life, marriage and blessings. It wasn't just a room, it was a beautiful room. I don't expect anyone to feel that way, it is just my opinion and I wanted to share the beauty I saw in it. The castle was altogether very beautiful, like a story book. Thank you! (then definitely the library 😀) Take care, stay safe and God bless! Always, Kat

I'm thinking how painful would it be if you have been obligated to leave your home behind (such as this) and one day you stumble over a CZcams video exploring the building that used to be your home. Especially when everything has been left behind. How many memories, good or bad. How many seeming to be usual items that this person would get flashbacks of memories from. It is always so sad to see abandoned places, doesn't matter if it's a hut or a castle.

The castle is mainly considered to be dated to 19th century as when it was first built in 15th century, it got distroyed along the way and up to the 19th century was only two towers that were spared, the whole castle was rebuilt in 19th, remaining only two towers from 15th.

Beautiful estate with so much left behind. Beds and all kinds of woodworks, cabinets and wardrobes, are in great shape. There was a beautiful blue couch upstairs. Thank you, Steve. 🌸

Just thinking about how I got sucked into advocating for expensive places when I was a kid because I cared about the world! Unrelated to caring, I can see why some of these places the builders leave! At least within my mix, I'd get rid of that! Using a place that steals from the public as some secret club house! Yikes! That's got to be a tough pill to swallow! Low! How many years did this abuse happen! Glad I learned somthing from seeing alot of people and taking the time for experience! I'm not in favour of funding anything within Pembroke Ontario

    Hi steve.
    Love your videos.
What a shame that place was abandoned.
Almost wants me to find out who owns it and ask If i could live in it.

The stone is a tombstone with details of who died when and what positions they held. Seems to be in French according to Google translate.

WOW 😮!! That castle is Beautiful !! And like I have said in the past to you that just about every house you seem to go in Overseas or in the US you always find a piano 🎹! I have called you the piano man 😅. Thank You 🙏. Now I like your hair long . I guess that you either could not find a place to get it cut whenever you are at this time or you didn’t have time .

In those days round rooms or homes were made so there would be no place for the devil or other demons to hide and ghosts could visit freely.
