BPD: The Worst Disorder or Not a Disorder at All? | STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW
Borderline Personality Disorder has been described as emotional “third degree burns over ninety percent of your body.” It’s as close to a curse as a personality disorder can be: deep fear of being abandoned creates behaviors that end up driving people off.

I had an ex with BPD before i knew what BPD was. After learning about BPD, it explained so much. I wish her the best.

Please do not be mistaken. People with BPD can very much be self aware. That only makes it more agonizing to keep finding yourself in unstable situations. It is so, so, so painful. bpd already makes your emotions very difficult to handle - imagine how it feels to know you're hurting your FP, the person you love most in the world, and not knowing how to stop and being so scared of losing them that it feels like actually dying.

The Favourite Person will imprint on the pwBPD and when they decide to leave it makes the Borderline distraught. I don't think they ever get over their Favourite Person.

With Borderline PD its usually the 'Personality' Disorder that people don't understand. Borderlines can often be seen as 'theres nothing 'wrong' with them they're just- this, this, this and that'. And its always negative things like being drama queens, lazy, uses people, etc. Never being able to understand thats personality traits, and thats what Personality Disorders are about. And that as much as they think Borderlines are doing those things on purpose and judging their character by it, they arent doing it on purpose and it even is highly upsetting to them.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with BPD, and have been trying to learn about it. My good friend just sent me a link to this, and I can’t wait until I’m free tonight to listen.

My mother had untreated personality disorder and it even extended to pets. It didnt happen a lot (thank goodness, bc she rarely got pets); however, a pet could go from favorite to very disliked just like people. Favorite pets/people would go from being put on a pedestal to very despised.
The last time mom got a pet I was filled with dread. I knew it was just a matter of time until mom felt it didnt like her and "plotting" to make her aggravated/mad. The pet went to someone else - I hope it did ok

Having experienced bpd-like behavior from a man with autism I'm interested in how researchers are finding that many bpd labelled women fit the criteria of autism. Seems like this is yet another example of sexist double standards that dismisses and adds to the suffering of women.

So I know that it must be tough actually being a person with BPD as my wife was diagnosed with it by two MD's. Keep in mind they didn't tell her I had to figure it out, you can't tell someone with BPD they have BPD it's insane. That said the reason it is so stigmatized in a negative way is because much of these people behave in such a way as to get that label as the outcome. I have had stuff thrown at me and then immediately told it was my fault that they did that. The only thing you can do is to leave the scene and there by triggering their response to abandonment. People with BPD should stay single and not ruin the life of others around them. Had I know she was BPD I would not have married her. BTW I have stayed long enough to raise the kids and make sure they had the emotional development so as not to manifest BPD. This is for sure genetic as my Wife's Mom had it too! Also they have an inability to forgive and they blame you for everything that happened in their life even before you even met them. There is no support for those effected around them. It is a henhouse disorder with paths of destruction all around. I have tried to get her to do DBT but she hates the thought that there is anything wrong with her she has such a low self image and high anxiety. Oh and if you think living with a BPD is tough try divorcing one, the lawyers love it as they get really rich on those cases that get drawn out.

So far, like 15min in, i feel like those things can be said about most mental health problems. I feel like the people that make the DSM know less than we give them credit for about why or how these things occur.
