- A Vertical Kilometer is a 1,000m+ ascent within a maximum distance of 5km. Fully is internationally-known as the fastest VK course in the world, and racers come from many countries each year to test their steep-trail running mettle. Watch as Rémi Bonnet starts at full speed and tries to keep it up for as long as possible in order to break the 30 - minute barrier.

At 10 seconds short of sub30 it must be very tempting to go again, this guy is an amazing athlete for sure!

Just an update, Kilian just went back to Fully (17 Sept) and went under 30 min.
I couldn't find anything on that online. Can you tell me what his time was on that run? really curious

I remember yes. He did a few days (or even I day - I can’t remember exactly) before also breaking the long lasting Sierre Zinal record.

I ran... I mean hiked... I mean slowly walked the Grand Serre VK recently. Same average gradient as Fully, and I believe Rémi holds the CR there with 30:13. Took me 58 minutes, and when I collapsed on the grass at the top I though I was just going to die there. I'm nowhere near elite, but I'm a decent trail runner. It's mind-boggling to me that those guys can literally run up those slopes.
Yeah i ran the "Lägern red bull FKT" and I'm 2x slower than Remi. It's amazingly technical and steep to run fast.

THIS is the type of "running" that I really enjoy! I'll never be that fast at road racing or track. However, I LOVE the challenge of trail racing!😃❤⛰🏃🏽♂️This is WONDERFUL camera work, BTW!

This reminds me of the Manitou Incline in Colorado. Not as much climbing, but starts at a higher elevation.

Ran this thing a couple weeks ago in -15' and 1-2ft of snow. Ended up having to get REGA evacuated since top was totally snowed in and no way to get down lol. Had a great time but will try again in summer.
Damn that place is something out of dreams. It's so beautiful.

Stumbled upon this track when hiking, came back to try and did it in...144min lol ok I'm almost double the age and double the weight of Remi so there's that also the end was snowy (2021.01.11) but no problem thanks to my Salomon OUTBLAST THINSULATE™ CLIMASALOMON™ WATERPROOF ahaha bought them a few weeks ago, definitely deserve their 4-5 stars rating, just remember those are winter shoes meant to be worn in cold temps or snow, there was -8°C/17.6°F when I started the VK ;) and enough snow to justify them above the VK at 1960m
That is crazy, once would be more than enough for anyone else. Under 30 minutes though, incredible achievement, well done.

I run in 2014 the KM vertical de fully in 51min. My personal best on a flat 10km is 42min30

@@mrgrork Fit does not necessarily mean healthy. Professional sports is not considered to be very healthy. Especially when it goes to these extremes.

Just an observation, you should either pick a language for a video to be in, or put subtitles over the bits in another language. Video started in English, and the random french interviews put me off.
I was annoyed too, but if you press "c" on your computer or select the captions, they do have the translation there "English subtitles.
Common, it's just one more challenge on that hill. Otherwise it'd be a walk in the park :-P

This guy (Remi) has the physique of a young boy and the heart of a lion! P.S. There should be two separate time records (personal best) 1) with and 2) WITHOUT poles. Also to make it fair for the heavier guys there should be a third record, i.e. carrying 50kg on your back (otherwise this become a race among little guys only)
How about a sub 6 ft category for Basketball?
@@SiddharthaGadekar life's unfair :) but since all is in the mind and since positive emotions are highly beneficial I say instead of not playing basketball or not trail running if you don't have the proper body type it is better to modify the rules to fit your strengths. That is why I propose to have a record that evens the odd. I could never match Remi or Kilian if we compete in trail running but if we add 50kg tree trunk I have a fair chance winning a 10k race.
Would like two know how guys like Reinhold messner or Hermann Bühl would have done that in that age.
