- In 2018, Courtney Dauwalter battled for two days and 205 miles on the steep, dry Tahoe Rim Trail. Lack of sleep, race mishaps and a relentless competitor pursued her as she was pushing her limits, running towards the overall victory. You can learn a lot about yourself when a race goes well, but you can learn even more when it all goes sideways.

A big thank you to Courtney for answering your questions and to you for watching the premiere 🙌 What is your favourite part from the episode? 💪
The ending as she is there to welcome the others - each on his/her own journey
The cinematography, scenery.
Salomon TV Having an awesome role model who is tough, realistic (love the dark humor over this dark patch), strong emotionally and physically, supportive, and just an overall great ambassador of the ultra world.......just like Salomon for the cool production and glimpse into inspiring moments, people, and places. Many thanks!
I love the soundtrack. Very on point with the flow of the video. Can we have the full list of tracks with artists? I found only 2. And where can I get the no vocal version of "Told You"?
Hey where are their sun glasses from?
Hey everyone, Courtney here! 👋 Let's watch the episode together! Feel free to ask your questions in the chat box next to the video on the right 👉 Enjoy!
Thanks for being awesome.
Courtney Dauwalter pretty stoked to see this...almost live! Haha. Heck of a year for you and your crew 😄🍻
Absolute legend. You are the type of badass women girls should be looking up to. #inspiration
Inspired
inspiring me since i started my journey to this ultra world! my first 50k is coming up quick. october 6th.!!! the ensenada trails 50k in ensenada, baja california norte, mexico. 10, 000 ft of elevation gain
Imagine, you’re doing your run, about 57 miles in, you’re tired but your doing good, no one behind you or ahead of you, your alone in the race. Then, in the distance, you hear a faint voice, kind of a yell, you try to make out what you hear, and then you realize what is being said. “WHO’S GONNA CARRY THE BOATS, AND THE LOGS”, it’s David Goggins, he runs past you at incredible speeds, “CANT HURT BOAT CREW 2” he yells.
Idk why I made this, just felt like it lol
Noahakeizer and then he picks you up and fireman carries you for the rest of the race because just running is not uncomfortable enough for him
😂
OMG I wasn't expecting David Goggings to show up lol.It makes me feel great that so many people know and are inspired by him.He is my greatest role model. This is also shown by the fake profile name though😂
No matter what race you’re running David Goggins is somewhere in the distance. Stay Hard!
Made me laugh a lot harder than it should have 😂 good comment
"That's the best part, cheering people in" - a great athlete and a great sportsperson.
She really is!
So humble! What a beast
I agree, and I believe racing community for the most part are very supportive. In the few races I've run the atmosphere was amazing and everyone cheered on irrespective of age, color, race etc. It was all in zest to make the finish line. I'm addicted ever since.
"Hey Kyle how you doing?"
"I'm delusional"
"weelcome"
LMFAO
"I got 2 litres, 1 mash potato, 2 honey cereal waffle, kleenex, chapstick, no sanity, no dignity."
Love it.
🙌🏻
She's the best ahaha
*Upbeat Music*
*Honey Stinger waffles
Yeah, she wasn't so snarky 2 minutes after that lmao
"Put up your right hand, all runners.
If i get lost, hurt, or die,
it's my own damn fault"
(laughter)
Equally as good, "No sanity, no dignity."
I wanna a T-shirt with these!! Pleeaaase Salomon!!
is that from caballo blanco in born to run? or did he get that from somewhere else?
"Doesn't matter what pace you did, everyone did 205 miles out there." Love it! It's that kind of camaraderie that draws me to trail running and ultras.
I wish i was an ultra addict instead of a drug addict
Go get rehab man. You can pull through it. This girl pulled through 250 miles you can definitely do it.
Most addicts become addicted to running.. it’s what I’ve done .. it’s amazing the runner high .. and how good you feel after every run and there after
Karim Ahsan 200 miles aint shit lets see her don cold turkey heroin detox while running 10 miles bitch.. while throwing up and shitting on yourself
Eminem got off opiates/benzos and got super addicted to running... it saved him from relapse
I’ve done both, pretty much same thing, I found drugging to be more tiring tho...
"Food's not going in."
"What? Food's not going in? You want a quesadilla?"
Ultrarunning in a nutshell... 😂
I thought the same. LMAO
😂😂
After just an 11 hour race, the only thing I can easily keep down is beer (water is an irritant by then). All food does not look, feel or taste good and my throat closes to rice-grain size. The next day I eat the grocery store, doors and all.
@@bob-ny6kn I'm amazed people can run for 11 hours! Honestely Courtney and you guys in the comments are amazing and inspiring!
When I saw this video I thought I was in for some meth head addicted to meth . But running is cool too
pretty much yeah
Dennis 4523 same 😂
Possibly the most underrated comment
Yeah low key.. lol
Me too until I read it over and saw ”ultra” in the title and then I figured it must be sports because I’ve only seen it in connection to sport and never drugs.
In a way running on this level becomes a drug considering how much dopamine the body will release it is the epitome of reward for the body released by the brain in the same ways drugs will release that ”reward” (even if it’s toxic it engages the same mechanisms in the brain).
At 9.25 - "50 hours later" after finishing the race, Courtney is stood there, cheering on racers who are still making their way to the finish line. So humble. What an inspiration to us all x
How can you not love Courtney. Even when absolutely broken she's smiling and looking on the bright side, looking for the positives 👌
Absolutely, Barry! Nothing but love and respect for her!
I love that she's there cheering on the people in the back - the finishers and strugglers that are fighting against the cutoff time. It shows that she really do enjoy and love this sport and all the individual fights and battles that this is all about. A proper down to earth and passionate athlete - Keep running!
“If I get lost, hurt, or die it’s my own damn fault” lmao that vocal contract
What a bad ass! Just starting trail racing at 46 and love it.
Way to go! 💪🏻
jshbryan
glad to see others out there!
i too at 45 have begun trail/ long distance running and loving it.
Good for body, mind and soul
How's it going for you guys? I'm just starting too. I'm 31 but my cardio is terrible and I'm heavy. 5'9" and weigh 195. Former smoker thats mainly done a lot of upper body strengthening and worked leg muscles but NEVER ran unless it was for a warm-up. The most I can run is like 5 minutes straight and in working on losing weight. What's your journey been like?
giggityeffyou man I’m 5’10” and 250 and feel like I’m in pretty good shape. Also, 31. I’m strong as hell but yea the cardio could use some work. I think I need to put the weights down a bit and focus on cardio more. I bulked you a lot in the past year. Fat and muscle. I need to get back down to 210 where I was a year and a half ago.
@@giggityeffyou Finished 2nd in my age group and 7th overall on a fairly technical course! 5'8", 155 pounds and run every day.
She ran 250 miles and beat second place by 12 hours. She could've slept for 8 hours and had a long dinner and still won by 2+ hours. She's just incredible 💯🏆
Per 9:20, she got second place.
@@lizardjama9834 At this race she got 2nd, but in another race, the Moab 240, she won outright by 10+ hours.
@@coreybaumy23 sure, just seems disingenuous to not clarify, when the video is about a specific race.
@@lizardjama9834 Accuracy is important, but also one would assume that the OP is talking about another race when they stated different information that wasn't in the video above.
Also, this is the internet and there really are no rules of accuracy here.
This is going to be fantastic. She could sit there say nothing and still be interesting given all she represents. Guts , determination and hard won and focussed simplicity.
Yep, Courtney is a national and world treasure.
Word.
"Broken down and stripped of everything." Except that GIANT LION HEART inside your chest! 👊💪💪💪
She's a machine! 💪🏻
Courtney is the definition of mental ( and of course physical ) strength.
Yes!
Would of been nice to have a vid of the winner aswell that guy must of pushed through even thicker hell to beat her, still amazed tho, incredible humans
Fupa Goofa spoiler alert? serves me right for reading comments before the end ...
He won in great stride, and for good reasons. I think she would have done much better if she kept a slower pace.
'This is the best part of it all cheering people in.." Awesome running and attitude.
"no sanity, no dignity" where is my Courtney shirt??? so would buy that Salomon
so would I
"and then you get there and you get the thing...it's cool!" Love that
I love it. What a simple way to express it. Amazing athlete.
To spend two days on the trail and then come back two days later to cheer in the tail enders! That is truly inspirational 👏👏
So true!
Incredible work Max. I respect big time the efforts it takes to pull this off
I love your videos!
He's a beast! 👊🏻
The world needs more Courtney Wauwalters on it. She's too cool and such a awesome person!
I don't think the world as any Courtney Wauwalters
Awesome! Having an ultrarace this october. After the last I felt really depressed for quite a while. Later I found out that a lot of people have similar experiences. I like the fact that this video doesn't show just the heroic, perfect parts.
Glad you liked the authentic and honest approach 🙏🏻
Thank you Courtney!!! You make me realize that these 12 hour shifts in a hot and hard factory isn’t as hard as I think when I see someone stay up for days at a time and run 200 miles! 💪🏻🤩💪🏻🤩💪🏻 Thank you❤️
Hot factory is still hard.
Courtney-you have no idea how much you have helped me by sharing your journey. I am 52, overweight and love trail running. I have a long way to go, but you are inspiring me to never give up!!! Thank you for being so genuine and honest. And I love your sense of humor! :)
That path in the beginning was from a book called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. The oath was said prior to embarking on a swashbuckle of a course. Fun fact!
This sort of thing is just pure inspiration for making change. The edit was awesome, and the more I learn about Courtney the more I admire the hell out of her. The cheering people in at the end was beautiful. Truly.
Courtney you are a true inspiration! And Max Romey you crushed that edit! Amazing work.
We're with you on this, they both did an amazing performance!
I'm amazed everytime I see examples like this of the human fighting spirit, endurance and absolute will to never ever give up. It's in all of us...we just need to put ourselves in situations like this to find it. Big up to SalomomTV and everyone who finished this epic run🤙🏻 Much love from South Africa
I like that they wrote “Candy / Short Connoiseur” 😅 what an incredible woman 🙏🏻💪🏼
😅🙌🏻
Courtney I love the pain cave or the strength building place. For me it is a privilege, truly a joy and an honor to workout beyond my limits, after having been through usual brutalizations, violence by multiple people entrapment yaddi I don’t share this for any woe only to say there is nothing that can break the human soul. It is the greatest opportunity to have endurance, compassion, strength, and enjoy what building lessons can be found in facing the uncomfortable head on.
Love the positivity, the humility and the shourtneys! No tight clothes over here either ☺️Thank you for being exactly you! Much respect.
You're so awesome Courtney! Thanks Salomon for capturing this. EPIC
max romey you made one of the best ultra running videos out there! bravo
I just discovered this from a joe rogan short. She is amazing. I can’t even fathom doing something like this.
Gosh i just love her attitude! She is not only an amazing athlete but an amazing person. Cant wait to see what else she does!
Good work Max with documenting such a harsh and beautiful event and making something so cinematic! As always, super crazy hard work by Courtney. You are amazing!!!
They both nailed it!
Living legend! Now when are we getting the Salomon Dauwalter shoes?
She truly is inspiring! Stay tuned for the full episode :)
Answer the question Sauromon!
Nice work, Max. A great story the needed to be told and done so with aplomb.
"and then you get there, you get the thing" keep setting goals and much respect for you and the runners Courtney, you inspire me
Glad to hear it inspired you, Casper! :)
This was honestly beautiful to watch and highly inspirational. Thank you and keep on truckin!
Thanks a ton, it means a lot! Glad to hear you got inspired!
What an incredible feat for a human being. And such a great glimpse into here character her reaction to being passed.
Courtney is the best! What a legend, we're lucky to witness such power!
A great episode! I love how you support everyone after you finished. I would be the one risking cutoff it i made it to the finish.
Congrats to Courtney on her finish and to the Salomon team for documenting a great story - fun to watch!
Thanks, glad you liked it :)
Amazing! Thank you Courtney for taking us on this journey with you.
Stoked you liked it! 🔥
I loved this video. True legend in the sport. Thanks so much! I've recently started my CZcams channel on Trail running and fast packing and I'm so excited seeing the sport growing rapidly.
Just rewatched this. What a two years she’s had since this was published 💪🏻
I`ll be surely waiting for this, want to see more of "The Ultra Addict" humble and fierce attitude.
Get ready! 🔥
@@SalomonTV and i`m still ready and waiting for this.
I watched the live tracking feed of this race for hours. I couldn't go to bed during the second night. What an amazing lady.
We feel you Alan, such an amazing performance from Courtney!
Support crew that asks 'what do you need?' sooooo much better than asking 'how do you feel?'
She's got a great setup!
I ran 10 miles one time
Hey, you’re ahead of probably 90+% of people
Same. After which, I was thinking, "why am I beating up me knees?"
"Ice? Sure. Do you want it on you or in you?"
Well played old man.
These ultra videos cannot express how hard this actually is. 205 miles in insane.
You are awesome Courtney!! An inspiration and a warrior. 💗
This was awesome!
Amazing video as always by Salomon, but I just love courtney so much and she is a huge inspiration to me this video was great and really moved me to tears! :)

Couldn't have said it any better!
Great vid, loved it! Such an epic distance and Courtney is phenomenal and Candice is a legend for organising it
Agreed!
Congratulations, Courtney! So inspiring!
I understand the mental toughness these people have because I've had to develop mental toughness for my anxiety disorder
5:34 great shot. You are a top tier Human being and an inspiration Courtney.
Salomon TV please more of this! Courtney is an inspiration! Not only the best ultra runner but the most humble.

Ok, I’m impressed. What a remarkable person. Thank you for sharing a little of Courtney’s story.
Courtney is so awesome to watch - I love her realness and determination thanks for the video
"You've just been working on this one thing for days, and you get there and you get the thing".
Thank you Courtney for giving me the inspiration and courage to push my body and set new limits to what my body can do! :)
Way to go! 💪🏻
Really enjoyed this. Incredible from everyone involved. Felt Kyle should have got a bit more of a mention at the end, even if just a paragraph of text at the end. As he did win the race by nearly half an hour.
Jalypso he probably does get mentioned...in his video
She’s out this world - love it - amazing!!!
She is incredible! Always smiling and laughing! Congratulation Courtney you are the best! 🔥 Love from switzerland
Awesome! Great job Salomon! And even GREATER JOB Courtney. What an inspiration! The most I've run is 50k, so "hats off" doesn't begin to show my respect for you! I'm 55 and hoping to run a 55k on my 55th birthday this year...wish me luck!
Awesome Philip, way to go! Good luck! 💪🏻

Courtney, you just inspire the heck out of me. If I see a video and you're in in, I watch.

"No sanity, no dignity." LMFAO!!!
Just shows you what the mind can do.

Best motivation for running!!! Thank you, beautiful video!
