    I don't comment on how-to videos very often but I've got to thank you big time for your video. I'd looked at a bunch in order to learn how to repair/replace a broken Volvo key fob. Your progression, lighting, and timing were perfect (all of which no one else really figured out). In other videos, there was voice over that really wasn't that helpful and you did it with only background music. It was great. I'd already screwed up on one attempt and re-ordered another blank and with your help completed it correctly in 10 minutes. You're very thoughtful for helping others like you did. Thanks

    At :15 you make reference to ID 48 Chip I am assume that this is the transponder chip that you hold in your hand at 3:35. Would the device you are using at :15 allow you to reprogram a transponder chip that was previously programmed to a different Volvo. I do understand that the remote part is at different section and programmed differently. I have 2 Volvo remote keys that were programmed to a prior Volvo (totaled) I owned and still have the pin codes that came with the remotes. I am just curious how familiar you are with programming the transponder section and the remote section of Volvo keys and just how much of my prior Volvo keys I can use on my different Volvo that use the same model number for the keys. My local Volvo dealership just orders them cut and programmed so they don't seem to know.

    I have a question what did he program at the end? Cause I have a problem with cylindrical ignition lock itself, could I just swap new key blade from new cylindrical lock to old key fob?

    • @Snowdog216
      @Snowdog216 Před 2 lety

      My best guesses here. For the new key I believe he was using the key reader to simply test that the new key worked, ie it had power and all the buttons worked, and the chip was being read. Note when I say new, note the circuit is the old curcuit, or put another way that the key functions after the curcuit board transplant.
      For your question. In some/most (?) vehicles the Ignition Switch (this is the electrical part) and Lock Cylinder (part with lock tumblers) are separate. If you are having mechanical issues with the key, then yes you could get a junkyard lock cylinder and matching key and then switch out the blade. The security chip and FOB should still work as those did not change.
      Let me make a much better suggestion. Try to find if you can buy a lock cylinder and have it Re-Pinned to your existing key. Not sure if that service exists, but worth looking into. Or maybe local locksmith can Re-Pin your new or used lock cylinder to match your existing key. And I think the dealer can sell a lock cylinder pinned to your key. This way the key will still open the doors and trunk.

    • @Bluesr0cker
      @Bluesr0cker Před 5 lety +1

      paks ifluection you need an CFE unit for your vehicle. It’s Volvo only and plugs into the ODB port giving you a ton of different functions

    • @SuperBasslover1
      @SuperBasslover1 Před 4 lety

      The yellow button turns on some lights on the car. like "find your way home, lights". Puddle lights (those under the mirrors), parking lights as well as plate lights. Useful if its dark.

      @@Daninater I looked a a few videos, I think this is the one that had the best explanation about the key and spring assembly. I did not glue my key back together as this person shows. Be careful not to break the transponder when you move it to a new key fob. I used ticky tac/poster putty/tack-n-stick moldable putty to hold mine in place which allows me to remove it easily if I need to change the fob again, which I did about 8 month after the first one I changed. czcams.com/video/ZPw3l0PyztY/video.html
