Y'know, I never noticed before, but the Piranha Plants' doorbell being red and spotted is one of the many charming touches Brawl in the Family was known for.

I thought the Minions movie was great. Good comedic timing, expressive characters, interesting conflict, very well done.

A lot of the comments here aren't really taking into account that this song isn't telling them that they shouldn't fight them and kill them, because its war and they're trying to kill each other; it's telling them to remember their lives and show remorse that they had to kill them.

Seeing Bowser sing his heart out in the Mario movie shot me 7 years into the past to when I heard this song, and I am so goddamn happy about that.

god hearing this for the first time in years after the comic ended and remembering all the good times I had reading this makes me _yearn_ for the instrumental of this and all other BitF songs to be posted so I and others can make covers to these pieces of our personal histories many may have had with these comics.
IDK if the channel is still active or checked on to this day but Matthew, if you see this, just know that your comic brought me and my older brother many laughs, smiles and even tears in some cases, and no other web comic has done that for me, I don't know how your life has gone since the comic ended, but I hope all is well for you and you fondly remember this part of your internet history, because I do and I wish you the best that life can offer and that you've moved on to whatever passion you currently have,. :')

I cryed like Hell when I found out Bowser was the one singing...
The worst part of this is that the common justification of "they attacked me first" doesn't always work. Waddledees and Goomba for example are just walking around. You only take damage if you directly get in their way. So while they might be dicks for apparently trying to get you out of their way in a violent manner they aren't really out and out trying to attack you.

I'm pretty sure Waddle Dees and Goombas actually ARE trying to kill you, they're just terrible at it. Also, I'm pretty sure their method of just marching forward it based off an ACTUAL battle tactic, where a huge army marches straight forward, hoping to overwhelm their enemies with sheer strength in numbers
+Mariokemon But it's a SOLDIER'S job to kill someone. If they're on our side, OF COURSE we're going to honor them, but if they're on the opposing side, we don't really have a choice but to kill them
Or being converted into pure energy for Kirby to use in those victory dances, or possibly fueling the wormhole into that dimension. Maybe... It would definitely explain how Kirby can be so energetic.
It appears that Kirby can non-lethally spit out enemies, according to the anime and games with multiple players which you can inhale, like Return to Dreamland.
So he's not as bad as it seems.

Seeing the Penguin Suit get acknowledged made me happy. I liked how you used Sir Kibble and Redead, too. Wario doesn't have his fingers crossed, either. Interesting, given his recent stardom as a rogue, and not complete villain. Waluigi's still a jerk as always, though.
In Ocarina of Time's Kakariko Graveyard, it says re-deads are former members of the royal family of Hyrule. So yes, they do have family.

Good ear--the melody started off as a (self) parody of that, in fact! It sort of became more of its own thing during production but you can still hear parts of it in there.

ShadowChomp O'chunks I'm guessing probably because he's a single father with, like, eight kids and she's a motherly figure to all of her subjects? He probably developed the "Oh hey, she's got a kingdom, too. I want that" thing over time.
Also, there's that theory of all the Mario games just being plays, so maybe that's why Bowser and his kids get to come to karting outings and other Mario sports.

Interesting that even in 2010, there's references to Mega Man, Final Fantasy and Duck Hunt before any of those series debuted in Smash. Brawl in the Family was the og predictor.
I must say that the hints of game themes (Like world 1-2 at the end) do not go unappreciated. Amazing work!

I first heard this song in 2010, when I was just graduating into adulthood. Now 6 years later I come back and cherish it again with every breath I have. So many thanks for Brawl in the Family, I will always remember it as something, that helped me surviving my first years as an adult, like a reminder that Nintendo will always have a big place in my heart.

I got tipped off to the fact that this was villain propaganda when the female koopa yelled "CURSE YOU SPINY BLUE SHELL!" Those are Mario Kart exclusives. Her husband died in a racing accident.
I like how it starts out sort of morally bankrupt because of the obvious fact that they're trying to kill you right back.
But the reveal at the end sets it all right in the end.
I love the new version, but I have to come back to the old version for one simple reason: my favorite part of the song, "you've slain em just for being in your way (get em entei!)" harmonizes beautifully in this. it's nice in the new one, especially bc its the main point a lot of the oomph", or force, of the vocal performance is given, but it covers up the gtet em entei in such a way as to blend together, rather than stand apart in harmony

absolutely. but now, unless i really dont feel like fighting or i need to get somewhere quickly, i usually kill all the enemies in my path.
Well also that depends, like: when you play a Lego Star Wars game you HAVE to kill enemies to progress in the game, so sometimes it usually depends on if I have to do it or not, or if I need a coin in Super Mario 64 DS for that one bar of health I lost! xD

fun fact: Samus has committed genocide more than once. Yeah, she killed all the metroids in Metroid II, but she then went back and annihilated their planet, SR-388, to kill off all the X Parasites in Metroid Fusion. She also killed off all the Ing in Metroid Prime 2, and killed the living planet of Phaaze and all the Leviathans it produced in Prime 3. Samus is no stranger to war crimes apparently
